Abtastkopf, ein Rad zum Bewegen des Kopfes zum Nachfahren von Linien und Kurven, wo bei durch den Mittelpunkt des Rades eine Antriebs achse geht, um das Rad zu drehen, und ferner eine Steuerachse hindurchgeht, um die Laufrichtung des Rades auf einer Unterlage festzulegen, und wobei die Bewegung des Rades eine entsprechende Bewegung des Kopfes bewirkt und die Drehung des Rades um die Steuerachse eine entsprechende Drehung des Kop fes um seine Drehachse hervorruft;
Apparatus for automatically following lines or curves The invention relates to a device for automatically following lines or curves, the course of which is determined by measuring the optical property of the same against a background. Such devices are z. B. used to control metalworking machines accordingly a line drawing.
It is known e.g. B. to control cutting torch by means of a template that is scanned by a magnetic or mechanical follower that touches this. It is also known to control machine tools by optical control devices which have an optical probe head that automatically follows the edge of a template by comparing the reflectivity of the template and the neighboring surface. The template can in this case simply consist of a drawing of the relevant part in a color that stands out from the ground. In both cases, the machine connected to the probe performs movements which correspond to those of the template.
With such devices it is necessary that a separate template is made for each contour to be traversed. However, a device can also be built by means of which the outlines of a simple line drawing can be scanned and reproduced. This can be done e.g. B. achieve that a photoelectric touch device is pivoted circularly on all sides and the output signals of the button are compared one after the other, from which error signals are derived that are used to control the position of the button.
These error signals correspond to the adjustment of the axis of the probe with respect to the center of the traced line and the angle error of the direction of the probe relative to the tangent to this line in the detected point. According to the invention, the device for automatically following lines or curves is characterized by a following, or
Scanning head, a wheel for moving the head to follow lines and curves, where a drive axis goes through the center of the wheel to rotate the wheel, and also a control axis passes through to determine the direction of travel of the wheel on a pad, and wherein the movement of the wheel causes a corresponding movement of the head and the rotation of the wheel about the control axis causes a corresponding rotation of the Kop fes about its axis of rotation;
and by a drive motor for rotating the wheel to the drive axis and a control motor for rotating the head about its axis of rotation and the wheel about its control axis, the head scanning means to summarize to with a predetermined frequency a transverse scan of the line or curve, which to drive is to be made, the axis of the scanning means in the direction of movement of the head leads the axis of rotation of the head and wherein the scanning means comprise means to measure the optical property of the line or curve during scanning and the optical property to generate representational signal, and means are provided which allow the control motor to respond to the measurement of the optical property,
to determine the direction of movement of the head through the wheel and to follow the line or curve with the head.
Details emerge from the following description of a feeler device in terms of an exemplary embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawing. 1 shows a partially cut side view of a probe head with the associated drive device together with the rotating servo motor, FIG. 2 shows a schematic electrical circuit diagram of the device according to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a partially cut side view of a modified form of the Probe head, FIG. 4 is a schematic circuit diagram of the probe head according to FIG. 3, FIG.
5 is a series of curves showing the signals generated at different points in the device; and FIG. 6 is a partial illustration to explain the operation of the probe.
In Fig. 1, a mounting plate 7 is shown, at one end of which a probe head 8 is rotatably attached. Approximately in the middle of the mounting plate to a drive device 9 is also rotatably attached, and at the other end of the plate is a servo motor 10 with a tachometer machine. The two rotating devices are driven by the servo motor via a common gear. For this purpose, a pinion 11, which meshes with a spur gear 12, is attached to the shaft of the motor. At the other end of the axis of the spur gear 12 there is a pinion 13 which engages in a further free-running spur gear 14, which in turn drives a spur gear 15 attached to the drive wheel mechanism.
When the spur wheel 15 rotates, the drive wheel device 9 also rotates. The spur gear 15 meshes with a spur gear 16, which in turn drives a spur gear 17 which is attached to the probe head 8, so that the rotation of the spur gear 17 corresponds to the rotation of the probe head 8 causes. The spur gears 15 and 17 have the same diameter, that is to say each rotation of the drive device 9 causes a corresponding rotation of the probe head in the same direction because of the interposed gear 16.
In detail, the lower part of the probe head has an annular screen which contains lamps 18 for illuminating the line drawing. The drawing itself is indicated as a thin line 20 below the probe head. Immediately above the screen is located within the lower part of the probe head an optic 19. The entire lower part is mounted in a guide tube 21 and adjustable relative to this by means of an adjusting screw 22 which is screwed into the wall of the lower part and through an inclined slot goes through in the guide tube. Above the highest possible position of the lower part there is an annular ground glass screen 23 and a photo cell 24 immediately above it.
The upper frosted surface of the ground glass can be observed from the outside through a side opening in the guide tube, while the lower part is adjusted relative to the guide tube until the line on the drawing 20 is sharply mapped onto the ground glass. The photocell is not rigidly connected to the guide tube, but is carried by a rocker arm 25 which is suspended from a leaf spring 26 which extends at right angles to the rocker arm, its ends being firmly connected to the guide tube. The photocell is mounted eccentrically on the rod in such a way that the arc described by the light-sensitive surface of the cell intersects the plane of the upper frosted glass surface when the rocking lever 25 is pivoted.
At the other end of the swing lever 25, a U-shaped permanent magnet 27 is fastened. Immediately above this permanent magnet there is an electromagnet 28 with an E-core, the winding being mounted on the middle leg of the core. The line connecting the center of the pole faces of the electromagnet runs directly above and parallel to the line of the permanent magnet. Both lines run at right angles to the axis of the spring 26. The supply lines from the photocell and the electromagnet and also from the lamps are all connected to slip rings 30, 31 and 32 at the upper end of the probe head, which are connected to the terminal via slip contacts Men 33, 34 and 35 are connected.
The drive assembly 9 is not described in detail, since it is known per se in such devices. It has an outer tube 36 which is fastened to the gear 15 and rotatably mounted in the mounting plate 7. At the upper end of the tube there is a motor 37, the shaft of which goes down through the tube in order to drive the roller 42 via a corresponding gear.
The post-turning device 10 consists of a known two-phase servomotor 38 and a known tachometer machine 39, which are located on a common shaft. If one phase of the servomotor is fed from the mains, the direction and speed of the servomotor can be controlled by the phase and amplitude of the current fed to the other winding. The speedometer machine generates a voltage that is proportional to the shaft speed and other higher-order derivatives of the shaft position.
As can be seen from the electrical circuit diagram in Fig.2, a series resistor 43 is connected to one terminal of the photocell, while the other terminal is grounded. The DC operating voltage is fed to the upper end of the series resistor 43, while the output voltage of the photo cell is fed to a selective amplifier 44. The output voltage of this amplifier is fed to one phase winding of the servomotor 38, while the output voltage of the tachometer machine 39 is coupled to the amplifier 44 against. A constant alternating current, e.g. B. is derived from the alternating current network AC, the electromagnet 28 and the other phase winding of the servo motor 38 is supplied.
The drive motor 37 is also connected to the alternating current network or the like via a speed control device 45.
When the electromagnet 28 is supplied with alternating current, the center leg is alternately a north pole or a south pole, and the outer legs each have the opposite polarity. The permanent magnet 27, whose pole spacing corresponds to that between tween the middle limb and an outer limb of the electromagnet, is attracted alternately by one and the other outer limb of the electromagnet (Fig. 1a). It thus oscillates back and forth synchronously with the AC mains current, the leaf spring 26 acting as an axis. Therefore, the photocell oscillates synchronously with the permanent magnet 27 on an arc back and forth. The drawing 20 is illuminated by the lamps 18 and a focused image of the drawing is drawn on the ground glass using the optics.
With its oscillating movements, the photocell moves back and forth over the image of the line. The sensitivity of the photocell can be selected as desired, for reasons to be discussed it is usually advantageous if the photocell has a high sensitivity in the red area. While the photocell scans the image of the line, the current through the photocell changes on condition that the light reflectivity of the line is different from that of the paper for the sensitivity range of the photocell in question.
Fig. 5A shows the dependence of the current intensity in the photocell on the time. FIG. 5C shows the mechanical deflection of the photocell over time with the same time scale as in FIG. 5A. Fig. 5C corresponds to the dependence of the voltage of the AC power source on the time. If the shift of the line against a certain center line is viewed as positive or negative and the shift of the photocell is also referred to, then when the image of the line is shifted in a negative direction, there is a greater amplitude of the photocell current during the positive deflection of the photocell, than during the negative deflection.
If the image of the line is shifted from the center of the oscillation arc of the photocell, the cell current is as shown at the beginning of FIG. 5A. In the further course of curve 5A it can be seen that the amplitudes gradually become the same when the line moves to the center, while at the right end of curve 5A a positive shift in the image of the line again produces unequal amplitudes; however, in this case the larger half-wave is generated when the photocell is pivoted in the negative direction, and the smaller half-wave is generated when the photocell is pivoted in the positive direction. The output voltage at the series resistor 43 is given to the selective Ver 44, which only amplifies the fundamental wave of its input signal.
The corresponding output signal at B is shown in FIG. 5B. In the beginning of curve 5B, the output voltage of the selective amplifier is in phase with the pivoting of the photocell. Towards the middle of curve 5B, the output voltage gradually decreases to 0 when the half-waves from the photocell are equally large. At the right end of curve 5B, the output voltage increases again and finally reaches the. same maximum value as in the first section, but with the reverse phase.
As already mentioned, the servomotor 38 is a two-phase motor, one winding of which is fed from the alternating current network, the phase of which therefore corresponds to the signal of curve 5C. The application of a signal corresponding to curve 5B to the servomotor accordingly causes the same to rotate in one direction at the beginning of curve 5B. The motor stops in the middle part of the signal and rotates in the other direction in the right part of the signal.
Fig. 6 shows the operation of the device, see GE in the direction XX in Fig. 1. Here, only part of the wheel 42, part of the line 46 and the image '47 of the photocell is shown. (In reality, of course, the picture of the photocell does not exist on the line, but, conversely, the picture of the line in front of the photocell. The relationships shown would be obtained if the photocell were replaced by a light source of the same dimensions.) If the various parts are in the position shown, it generates the photocell unequal half-waves and thereby causes rotation of the post-rotation motor 38.
As a result, the drive wheel 42 and the scanning head 8 are simultaneously rotated in the same direction, as indicated by the arrows in FIG. This rotation continues until the output voltages of the positive and negative deflection of the photocell are equal and the amplifier no longer outputs any voltage.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the photocell is not located in the axis of rotation of the probe head, but is offset slightly to the rear, so that it ultimately scans a point in front of the probe head because of the reversal of direction through the optics. Therefore, a rotation of the probe head causes a rotary movement and displacement of the scanning path around the pivot point of the probe head. The shift prevents the ambiguity that would otherwise exist in the system when the probe head detects a discontinuity in the line, e.g. B. a sharp corner, crossed. As long as the line is centered under the probe, the amplifier does not provide any output voltage, the post-rotation motor does not turn and the probe continues to drive in a straight line with the drive wheel.
Any deviation of the trajectory of the probe from the line causes an unequal output voltage of the photocell, which, as described ben, causes an output voltage of the amplifier with the fundamental frequency, whereby the servomotor 38 rotates until the output voltage of the photocell is symmetrical again.
The scanning speed of the device is given by the setting of a device which controls the speed of the motor 37, while the reverse direction is controlled solely by the output voltage of the photocell. The output voltage of the tachometer machine is also fed to the selective amplifier. This signal is out of phase with the input voltage from the photocell and has an amplitude that is primarily proportional to the speed of rotation of the motor shaft. If there is a large deviation from the line being followed, which generates a large output voltage from the photocell, the Ver is stronger from a strong output voltage and therefore gives the servo motor 38 a high speed.
However, since the speed of the post-rotation motor increases the output voltage of the tachometer machine, there is a counteraction against the signal from the photocell, whereby the output voltage of the amplifier is reduced again. As a result, a strong gain can be applied in the control loop without fear of pendulum movement, because the maximum gain of the control loop is only effective when the speed of the post-rotation motor almost disappears.
In Fig. 3 a modified probe head is shown in which no vibration arrangement is provided. In this arrangement, two photo elements or a photo element tapped in the middle are arranged in such a way that they cover the scanning path of the vibrating photocell previously applied. The two photo elements or the two halves of the photo element with a central tap are denoted by 48 and 49 and are alternately put into operation in order to measure the light intensity incident on them. The rest of the probe head is set up exactly as before.
The circuit for the probe head just mentioned is shown in FIG. The two elements 48 and 49 form two bridge branches, the remaining branches of which are represented by the resistors 50 and 51. If an alternating current source is switched on between the connection points of the resistor 50 and the element 48 or the resistor 51 and the element 49, an output voltage occurs in the other group diagonal if the bridge equilibrium is disturbed, i.e. between the connection of the resistors 50 and 51 and those of E'l'emente 48 and 49.
If the same amounts of light fall on the elements 48 and 49 and both elements have similar or almost the same sensitivity, the resistors 50 and 51 are selected so that no voltage occurs in the bridge diagonal. The bridge diagonal is directly connected to the amplifier 52. In this example, the amplifier does not need to be selective, since only the fundamental frequency occurs automatically at its output. The output voltage of the bridge then runs essentially in the same way as in FIG. 5A and, after amplification, can be used directly to control the servomotor 38. As before, an output voltage of the tachometer machine 39 is fed back negatively to the amplifier 52, so that the input voltage from the probe is weakened and a damped control path is established.
As in Fig. 1, a drive motor 37, not shown here, is also provided with power source and speed controller. Again, the photo elements or the Photoele ment against the center of rotation of the probe are set ver. When operating one of the facilities described, the tool head of the metalworking machine, for. B. a cutting torch, milling cutter or the like, directly or via a cranesbill connected to the probe head, so that it executes a pattern that corresponds exactly to the line drawing. During operation, only the probe head is forced to follow the line drawing. The drive wheel does not follow the line and its displacements do not matter. It only has to be ensured that the drive wheel always runs parallel to the probe head and thus parallel to the line.
Under certain circumstances it may be desirable that the processing tool does not follow the drawn line directly, but rather moves parallel to it at a distance that is sufficient to enable further processing of the cut out part. Various measures can be taken to preload the probe head in order to generate this parallel displacement. So z. B. the electromagnet in the case of the probe according to Fig. 1, a direct current component supplied to who or it can be a small permanent magnet next to the vibrating magnet so that the center of vibration is shifted, or the United stronger can be operated with an electrical bias.
This shift creates a shift in the scanning path, which in turn causes the cutting head to cut the workpiece slightly outside of the line drawn. In the embodiment with two photocells according to FIG. 3, a similar displacement can be generated in that the cells are displaced mechanically by means of an adjustable fastening device. In the case of the probe head shapes, the pantograph that connects the probe head to the cutting tool can also be designed in such a way that it effects the desired displacement of the latter.
The sensitivity curve of the photocell or photocells plays a role in relation to the nature of the line drawing. If the surfaces z. B. are somewhat shiny, photocells with high sensitivity in the red are in contrast to those with a sensitivity curve similar Lich the human eye better able to distinguish between tween the white paper surface and a black line to be followed. Markings on the drawing that do not belong to the line to be followed can also be made in red in this case and then appear almost identical to the white paper surface because of the sensitivity curve of the photocell. The device was described under the assumption of a direct drive. Under certain circumstances, e.g.
B. when controlling a milling head that requires large adjustment forces, it can be advantageous to control the milling head and the probe head by servomotors acting in two mutually perpendicular directions. In order to adapt the probe head to such a system, a converter only needs to be connected to the post-rotation motor, from which signals can be derived in the X and Y directions which are proportional to the angle and the scanning speed.
