Process for manufacturing plastic containers and apparatus for implementing this process The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing plastic containers, having a head provided with a threaded end intended to receive a screw cap , process according to which plastic material is injected into a mold giving its final shape to the threaded end.
In. the known methods of manufacturing plastic containers having a threaded end, one causes the unscrewing of said end out of the die once the molding of the container is finished.
However, the operation of unscrewing the tip takes a certain time and requires a complicated mechanism, which is a drawback. The method according to the present invention aims to remedy this disadvantage. E consists in extracting the container from the mold by axially pushing the threaded end piece by subjecting it to an elastic deformation.
The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method indicated above, comprising a mold formed by a die and a punch, the body of which constitutes a core on which the wall of the container is formed. , the die having a threaded hole intended to give its final shape to the threaded end of the container, means being provided for the extraction of the end from the die.
This device is characterized by the fact that the threaded hole of the die is extended by a channel in which is capable of sliding, under the effect of a motor mechanism, a part for extracting the threaded em boua, by pushing back axial thereof and elastic deformation of the tip.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, mounted on an injection machine for the manufacture of plastic tubes. Fig. 1 is a diagram showing, in section, the injection machine in the last phase of forming a plastic tube, while the core is still in the tube.
Fig. 2. Is a view similar to the previous one, showing the phase of extraction of the core of the formed tube.
Fig. 3 shows the phase of extracting the tube from the die. The apparatus for the manufacture of plastic containers, shown in the accompanying drawing, is part of a machine intended for the manufacture of plastic objects by injection. This machine comprises a fixed frame supporting a main body 1 itself carrying a sheath 2.
On this main body 1 is fixed a hopper 3 in which is placed the raw plastic material, that is to say generally in the form of granules 4. A channel 5 communicates the hopper 3 with the bore. internal 6 of the sheath 2. Inside this sheath 2 is arranged a punch 7, the body 8 of which is hollow and constitutes a core on which the object to be manufactured must be formed.
Around this core 8 is engaged a tube 9 carrying a distributor 10.
In this embodiment, this distributor 10 comprises a bulge formed on the tube 9 and in which grooves 11 are arranged. The extreme part 12 of the tube 9 is intended to cooperate with a frustoconical seat 13 which has a ring 14 rap worn at the end of the sheath 2.
It should be noted that the internal bore 15 of this ring 14 is intended to constitute, with the external wall of the core 8, a die through which the injection of the plastic material intended to form the external wall of the container to be manufactured. The actual injection piston is formed by a tubular piston 16 engaged around the tube 9 carrying the distributor 10, between this tube 9 and the bore 6 of the sheath 2.
The axial movements of the piston 16 in the sheath 2 are controlled by a booster, not shown in the drawing. Likewise, the axial movements of the tube 9, as well as those of the punch 7, are also each controlled by a respective servomotor. These servomotors have not been shown in the drawing,
given that they can be of any known construction, for example formed by a piston moving in a cylinder under the effect of a liquid or gaseous fluid, or even by a mechanical servo-motor of the screw and nut type , or rack, or by an electric servomotor.
It should be noted that the tube 9 is not only subjected to axial displacements, but can also be driven in rotation on itself to give the injected plastic material a helical movement at the outlet of the nozzle, propeller movement determining a helical distribution of the plastic material around the core 8.
This apparatus further comprises a die 17 attached to a movable frame 18 of the injection machine. The hollow part 19 of this die 17 is intended to form the head 20 of the plastic tube 21.
This die 17 therefore constitutes a mold which has a threaded bore 22 intended to give its final shape to the threaded end piece 23 terminating the head 20 of the tube 21.
The movable frame 18 is liable to be displaced axially in the direction of the sheath 2 under the effect of a servomotor constituted, preferably, by a cylinder in which moves, under the effect of a liquid under pressure, a piston not shown in the drawing.
At the start of the injection phase, 11a die 17 is brought against 11 ', ring 14, so as to form a tight seal between a frustoconical seat 24, which said ring 14 has, and the end 25 of the die. 17.
It is in this position that the injection of the head 20 and of the end piece 23 of the tube 21 takes place by pushing back the plastic material by the injection piston 16 in the direction of the ring 14.
The movable frame 18 also carries a cylinder 26 having a partition 27 separating it into two compartments 28 and 29. In the compartment 28 is capable of sliding a piston 30 integral with a rod 31 passing through the partition 27 and extending as far as in the die 17 to engage in an axial hole 32 made in the core 7.
This rod 31 is intended for forming the hole 33 inside the end piece 23 of the tube 21. Tubings 34 and 35 allow the compartment 28 to be supplied with pressurized oil on one side or the other of the tube. piston 30, depending on the displacement that we want to give to the rod 31.
A piston 36 is disposed in the compartment 29 of the cylinder 26. This piston 36 is integral with a tube 37 engaged around the rod 31 and also extending into the die 17 by a channel 47 extending the bore: threaded 22 .
This tube 37 is intended to constitute an extractor to cause the extraction of the end piece 23 out of the threaded bore 22 once the tube 21 is finished. Pipes 38 and 39 make it possible to supply the compartment 29 with pressurized oil on one face or the other of the piston 36 according to the movement given to the extractor 37.
The hole 32 of the core 7 is in communication, via a channel 40, with a source of compressed air. As for the recessed part 41 of the core 7, it forms part of a cooling circuit in which water circulates. It should be noted that a chamber 42 is also arranged around the rear part of the sheath 2 to allow water to circulate.
Likewise, a chamber 43 is provided in the matrix 17 to cause the latter to cool, also by circulating water.
A heating body 44 surrounds the external part of the sheath 2 as well as the ring 14.
The operation of the injection machine and of the apparatus more particularly described above with reference to the drawing is carried out as follows As already indicated above, at the start of the injection phase, the die 17 is brought into con - tact with the ring 14.
The piston 36 is then located in the left part of the compartment 29, so that the extractor 37 is in the withdrawn position, as shown in FIG. 1, this position being obtained by sending liquid under pressure into the duct 39 and exhausting the duct 38.
The piston 30 is, for its part, in the right part of the compartment 28 by sending pressurized oil through the pipe 34 and exhausting the pipe 35. As a result, the rod 31 is engaged in hole 32 in core 7.
While the machine is in: the position shown: above, axial movement towards. the left is given by its servomotor to the injection piston 16 which pushes: the plastic material through the grooves 11 of the distributor 10 towards the nozzle formed between the ring 14 and the core 7.
Under the effect of the pressure to which the plastic material is subjected between the sheath 2 and the tube 9, pressure acting in particular against the shoulder 45 of the tube 9, the latter undergoes a slight shrinkage so that the plastic material can flow between the seat 13 and the end 12 of the tube 9 constituting a shutter.
The plastic material therefore fills the recess 19 and the threaded bore 22 of the die 17. It should be noted that simultaneously with the injection movement of the piston 16, the tube 9 of the distributor 10 is dragged in rotation on itself. , RTI ID = "0002.0218" WI = "4" HE = "4" LX = "1609" LY = "2326"> which causes mixing of the plastic material before it passes through the die.
Then, the extrusion phase of the outer wall of the tube 21 takes place by moving the movable frame 18 to the left, this movement causing a simultaneous movement of the die 17,
as well as the core 7 controlled by a particular servomotor. The skirt of the tube 21 is then formed by helical distribution of plastics material around the core 7 during its axial movement towards the left out of the sheath 2.
Shortly before the movable frame 18 reaches its leftmost position, the tube 9 is subjected, by its servomotor, to an axial displacement to the left, causing the shutter 12 to stop the flow of material plastic through the chain. The parts of the machine are then in the position shown in FIG. 1.
During the next phase, shown in fig. 2, the rod 31 is extracted from the nozzle 23 by sending oil pressure through the line 35 into the compartment 28 and exhausted from the line 34, which causes a displacement to the left of the piston 30. The core 7 is brought inside the sheath 2, and simultaneously air arrives through the channel 40 and the hole 32 inside the tube 21, this to prevent the tube from being crushed under the tube. effect of atmospheric pressure.
Once the phase of withdrawal of the core 7 is completed, the extractor 37 is put into action by sending pressurized oil into the: pipe 38 and exhausting the pipe 39, which causes a displacement towards the straight line of the piston 36 in the compartment 29. The end of the extractor 37 then pushes the nozzle 23 out of the threaded hole 22 of the matrix. This extraction of the end piece 23 takes place axially by elastic deformation of said end piece.
This elastic deformation is facilitated by the fact that the rod 31 having withdrawn, the channel 33 allows a contraction of the end piece 23. The shape given to the thread 46 of the end piece 23, shown in FIG. 3, facilitates this movement of contraction and extraction of the tip out of the matrix. These movements are further facilitated by the fact that the tapped hole 22 of the die 17 is slightly conical in the direction of a decrease in section going towards the bottom of the hole. This taper further facilitates the movement of extraction of the end piece 23.
This method of extracting the tip 23 from the die 17 by axial upset @and elastic deformation of: the tip makes it possible to increase, to a certain extent, the rate of operation and production of the machine for manufacturing the plastic tubes.
Tests have shown that the operation of axial upset -and elastic deformation was without any inconvenience for the thread 46 of the end piece 23, the freshly formed thread which perfectly supports these movements.
The apparatus described above, with reference to the drawing, was supposed to be mounted on an injection machine of a particular type allowing the formation of the skirt of a tube 21 by helical distribution of the plastic material around a core at the bottom. during an extrusion phase.
However, this apparatus for extracting the threaded end could "be applied to any other type of machine for making plastic containers by injection, extrusion or molding.
Of course, many variants of execution of this device could be imagined depending on the type of machine on which the device is to be mounted.
In particular: the control means of the extractor 37 could be other than means using a pressurized fluid, for example purely mechanical or electrical means.
