<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Drive device with a contactless mechanical oscillator controlled by an electronic circuit It is generally known that the drive pulses to maintain the oscillation amplitude of unrest or pendulum should take place if possible while the balance or pendulum swings through its zero position. It can also be shown that, under certain circumstances, the drive pulse may consist of several very short pulses per half-oscillation if the pulses are issued symmetrically to the zero position of the oscillator.
In the case of electronic clocks, it is usually very difficult to meet the regulatory requirements mentioned above and at the same time to take into account all other technical requirements, such as obtaining a suitable control signal, correct form of induction voltage, etc. The balance or pendulum motors known from contact clocks can only be easily transferred to transistor-controlled clocks in a few cases. In practice, they even turn out to be unsuitable, depending on the type of tax principle used.
The balance motors generally known today generally use two circular cylindrical permanent magnets to generate a constant electromagnetic field to which a circular or elliptical coil is able to perform relative movements. When the oscillator is in motion, a voltage is induced in the coil when it passes through the electromagnetic field. This can be used in clocks containing transistors to control the drive coil. The voltage signals supplied by the known balance motors, however, prove to be more or less unsuitable for this application in practice.
The well-known triangular coil attached to the balance wheel, in cooperation with the two conventionally cylindrical permanent magnets, provides a signal which, although favorable in terms of regulation, is unsatisfactory in terms of its shape, since, as can be seen from the diagram in FIG - Ducted voltage U shown as a function of time t, the cusps 1 and 3 (or 4 and 6) to the cusp 2 (or 5) are approximately in the ratio 1: 2.
Since the control mechanism for the balance motor responds to the humps 1, 3 and 5, according to the polarity of the induction voltage, the drive pulse takes place under different electrical conditions. As studies on which the invention is based have shown, this fact is disadvantageous for the rate stability of such watches. Similar difficulties arise with other arrangements or the control signal is asymmetrical to the zero position of the oscillator. These statements therefore also fail.
To avoid these disadvantages, it has already been proposed to set up arrangements for operating mechanical oscillators, in particular of unrest in watches, with oscillations that can be carried out by at least one coil, relative to magnetic fields preferably generated by permanent magnets, so that at least some of the magnetically effective oscillations Coil legs do not run radially to the axis of rotation of the magnetic oscillator and the elements generating the electromagnetic fields (preferably permanent magnets) are arranged in such a way that, regardless of the number of coil legs penetrated by the electromagnetic field during the oscillation process,
that induced in this coil
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Voltage has the same or almost the same peak values.
The avoidance of the disadvantages presented above can be achieved by the arrangement according to the invention in that the magnetic field generator shortly before the zero position of the oscillator, in one active coil side, in the zero position in two active coil sides, shortly after the zero position again only in one active On the coil side, generate a pulse voltage as a control voltage for each half oscillation of the mechanical oscillator, whereby only one polarity of these pulses is used and that the magnets generating the magnetic fields are arranged in such a way that
that the product of the force flow of the magnets, the number of turns and the speed of the coil, which is decisive for the magnitude of the generated pulse voltage, is independent of the number of coil legs through which the flow passes, so that the drive pulses have at least approximately the same peak values of the induced voltage . It is thus possible to use a coil with radial legs to generate a signal that is symmetrical with respect to the voltage maxima, if the magnets do not have the same mutual spacing as the legs of the coil.
With the permanent magnets of the usual type, e.g. B. with circular cylindrical dimensions and the coils previously used, it was not previously possible to make the humps 1, 3 and 5 shown in the diagram of FIG. 1 of the same size. For a better understanding, the creation of the signal shown in the diagram according to FIG. 1 with a normal, two-legged flat coil in cooperation with two circular cylindrical magnets should be explained.
If the coil Sp, which is imagined to be perpendicular to the fields of magnets A and B and rotatable about O, is moved from left to right over the two magnets in the plane of the drawing, the spar will initially pass over magnet A (north pole). Hz of the humps 1 induced. A short time later, the two spars Hl and H stand over the two magnets A and B, which induces the cusp 2, which is naturally about twice as large as the cusp 1, since the magnetic flux through the coil is now twice as strong .
The coil now moves on and the spar Hl sweeps over the magnet B (south pole), whereby the hump 3 is induced.
If the coil oscillates in the opposite direction, that is from right to left in the plane of the drawing, the signal has the opposite polarity as a result of the change in direction; the cusps 4, 5 and 6 are created accordingly.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to a scheme to be evaluated as an exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3: The triangular-like flat coil denoted by Sp is attached to a balance wheel Ur, which can perform rotary movements around point O in a known manner. A and B denote two transversely magnetized permanent magnets, the magnetic centers of which are symbolized by the letters m and in '. The points M and M 'of the two spool bars Hl and H. should represent the center of the electrically effective coil parts, that is, the electrical center of gravity of the spool bars.
The spars have the width s. When the balance wheel is rotated by the amount of the angle a around the axis of rotation O, one coil leg is roughly congruent with one of the magnets A or B.
Assuming a deflection of the balance by more than 90,) (left turn) from its position shown, the following electrical processes occur in the coil during the oscillation period that now follows. When swinging back (clockwise), the handle HI passes over magnet B first. On the basis of Faraday's law of induction, this spar is now induced to a voltage corresponding to the forehump 1 shown in the diagram according to FIG. 4, the maximum value of which is determined by the magnetic flux, the number of turns of the coil and the angular velocity.
If the balance wheel is turned further, H leaves the field of B and after a short time the spar 2 intersects the field lines emanating from B. The coil-magnets arrangement is now selected in such a way that the scorn 1 only enters the field of magnet A when the number of field lines of magnet B passing through H. decreases again. So first the spar H. passes over the magnet B until it is congruent. Immediately afterwards the spar Hl is immersed in the field of the magnet A. If Hl is congruent with A, then H. has just left B's field.
A short time later, the spar 1 is then also in the practically field-free space.
During the above processes, the central hump 11 appears at the coil clamps and has approximately the same peak value as the fore hump 1. However, the hump 11 lasts twice as long because the coil swept over both magnets one after the other. Finally, H. # gets into the field of A and the post hump 111 is induced. When the balance wheel swings back, the signal has the same shape, but the polarity is reversed and humps IV, V and VI are created.
The magnets were arranged in such a way that the distance between the magnetic centers of gravity in and around the width s of a coil leg is greater than the distance between the centers M and M 'of the bars Hl and HEs, an arrangement would also be possible with which the distance between points m and m 'is smaller than the distance M and M' by the amount s. The peak values of the induced voltage also remain the same, but the design of the coil is less favorable. Finally, the distance mm 'could be more than MM' -I- s.
This arrangement
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
however, it delivers a signal that is too stretched over time, which results in less favorable conditions in terms of regulation.
For MM '-I- s = mm' the signal has the form shown in the diagram according to FIG. 4 and contains only bumps with the desired peak values of the same size. The middle hump 1I (or V) takes twice as long as the humps I and III (or
IV and VI). This effect is desirable. As is known, a transistor amplifier used to drive the balance wheel only responds to one polarity of the cusps, i.e., according to the voltage curve according to Figure 4, it sends a drive pulse to the balance wheel during one half-cycle and during the following half-cycle. Since the duration of the middle hump is twice as long as that of the fore and aft humps, the power delivered by the transistor amplifier to the balance is the same during both half oscillations.
Due to the arrangement described, the entire flux of all magnetic elements involved does not penetrate the coil in any position. To achieve the highest possible voltage in the coil, large magnets with preferably oval or elongated dimensions are therefore used in order to cover the entire electrical coil surface as far as possible.
