Device for regulating the thread tension on knitting machines The invention relates to a device for regulating the thread tension on knitting machines, in which the thread brakes through a pretensioned thread and runs over a pendulum. The devices of this type known so far in flat knitting machines have a resilient pendulum in addition to a thread brake and suitable for orderly thread guide eyes.
The pulling force of this pendulum must be so great that it can pull the excess thread away from the knitting point when the carriage changes direction so that no thread loops and thus no error in the edge needle arises. The braking effect of the thread brake in front of the pendulum must be so great that the pendulum cannot pull any thread from the bobbin when it is deflected, i.e. when the thread is pulled away when the carriage changes direction. During the knitting process, the thread running off the ball has to overcome the braking force of the thread brake and the tension of the pendulum, the latter transferring changing tensions to the thread through its constant movement.
The force that has to act on the thread so that it is pulled off the ball via the decelerating elements is noticeable at the loop formation point, as the slide is more difficult to move, so it requires more muscle power to operate. As a result of the braking effect, the thread itself is stretched, which can no longer be fully compensated for in the finished knitted fabric.
In contrast, the invention is a loose thread run from the ball to the thread leader nuts and thus up to the knitting needle it is enough. According to the invention, the pendulum is rigid and pivotable about a fulcrum, and in an end position that it assumes under the influence of the thread tension, it acts on the thread brake in such a way that its pretension and thus braking effect is canceled or reduced.
In contrast to the previously known devices, the thread is thus not or only very weakly braked in its course. It is only clamped in the thread brake when the machine is at a standstill or when the thread withdrawal is periodically interrupted when the carriage is reversed.
In the drawings, an example from implementation of the subject matter of the invention is provided.
The figures show: FIG. 1 a view of a thread tension regulating device in the position of the pendulum during the knitting process, FIG. 2 a view of the device according to FIG. 1 in the reversal of movement of the carriage, FIG. 3 an axial section through the thread brake of the device according to FIGS. 1 and 3.
In the drawings, 1 denotes the thread that is withdrawn from the bobbin or ball 2. The thread 1 runs through a guide eyelet 3, then between the brake disks 4 of a thread brake through the eyelet S of a pendulum 6 and another eyelet 7 to the thread guide, not shown, of the reciprocating slide. The pendulum 6 is rigid and pivotable about a pin 8 fixedly arranged on the frame of the knitting machine. It has a wedge-shaped knife 9 on its shaft which, in the upper end position of the pen 6, engages between the brake disks 4 of the thread brake.
The pin 8 is arranged on the frame of the knitting machine in such a way that the pendulum 6 also assumes an inclined position in its upper end position and has the tendency to tilt down under the action of its own weight. This tendency could be intensified by additional weights or by a weight-loaded lever arm additionally attached to the pendulum.
3 shows the engagement of the wedge-shaped knife 9 between the two brake disks 4 of the thread brake. The two brake disks 4 are pressed against one another by a spring 10 and then braked by the thread 1 running through them. The engagement of the knife 9 pushes the brake disks apart against the spring pressure.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: The pendulum 6 is held in the upper end position between the brake disks 4 by the thread run-off, that is to say by the thread consumption, until the carriage comes to a standstill. When the direction of the carriage changes, an excess of thread arises at the edge of the knitted fabric or at the edge needle. So the thread becomes loose and gives way. As a result, the inertia of the pendulum 6 is canceled and this falls due to its own gravity from the brake discs 4 of the thread brake.
This process is shown in FIG. The thread brake now acts in full force on the thread 1 passing through and brings it to a standstill from the bobbin 2. As the excess thread increases in length at the reversal point, the pendulum 6 lowers. Only when the knitting process is started, the thread 1 pulled away from the pendulum 5 is used up again, and the pendulum automatically rises to the upper limit and opens in turn the brake disks 4, which release the thread to pass through without tension. The thread brake could also be designed differently.
It is only essential that under the action of the pendulum 6, which is under thread tension, the braking effect on the thread passing through is canceled or reduced.
