Stroboscope for use in the field of time measurement technology. Stroboscopes are known which have a flash tube and a rotating display element, the latter being rotated by means of a synchronous motor. The flash tube can be arranged in a stationary manner, in which case the rotating display element is a slotted disk which rotates past the flash tube. However, the slit light tube can also be attached to the rotating slotted disk behind its slit in such a way that the slit acts as a diaphragm and only allows a sharply delimited light beam to emerge.
Finally, the rotating display element can only contain a flashlight tube without the use of a slotted disc, provided that the flashlight tube itself has a light source of practically only a line-shaped extension.
In the usual designs, the synchronous motor of the stroboscope has a stationary stator, the single-phase or multi-phase winding of which is connected to an electrical alternating current source of normal frequency. The alternating current process to be compared with regard to its frequency is fed to the flashlight tube, which should light up briefly in time with the frequency of the alternating current process in question. In the case of a stroboscope with a rotating flash tube, the alternating current process is supplied in a known manner via brushes and co-rotating slip rings.
If you look at the flash of light generated by the flash tube with stroboscopes of this type, it will only appear to be spatially stationary if the frequency of the flashes is exactly the same as the number of revolutions of the display element or has an integer ratio to it. A frequency deviation can be recognized by the fact that the light flash rotates slowly in one direction or the other with the difference frequency. The existing frequency difference can be calculated from the speed of rotation of the light flash.
However, this method is too cumbersome for use in the field of time measurement technology and a direct display of the frequency comparison carried out is desirable. For this purpose, it has been proposed to connect the stationary stator winding of the synchronous motor of the stroboscope to an alternating current generator, the frequency of which is designed to be variable by the required amounts. You then only need to change this variable comparison frequency until the light flash in the stroboscope comes to a standstill again.
The frequency of the alternator required for this then represents an easily readable measure of the frequency of the flashes of light from the flash tube. However, the achievable accuracy of this last-mentioned method is limited because the frequency constancy of an alternator with its frequency controllable is considerably lower than that Frequency constancy of an alternating current generator operating at a fixed normal frequency, provided that roughly the same amount of, in particular, electronic aids is used as the basis.
The present invention relates to a stroboscope for use in the field of Zeitmess- techDik, for the frequency comparison of two electrical alternating current processes, in which one alternating current process is supplied to the flash tube and the other alternating current process is fed to the synchronous motor, by means of which the display element of the stroboscope is rotated.
The above briefly explained shortcomings of the previously known stroboscopes of this type are avoided according to the invention in that, in addition to the rotatably mounted rotor of the synchronous motor, its stator also rotates about an axis coinciding with its rotor shaft in the frame
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Skop has a variable speed gearbox with continuously variable transmission, via which the rotatable stator of the synchronous motor is mechanically coupled to its rotatable rotor, and that the variable speed gearbox also has setting means that can be operated by hand,
with which the speed ratio between the stator and rotor of the synchronous motor can be found at which the flash of light emanating from the flash tube is spatially silent, so that the setting of the setting means required for this represents a measure for the frequency comparison carried out.
An embodiment of the present subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing, assuming a stroboscope with a stationary flash tube and a slotted disc rotating in front of it. The parts of the stroboscope that are not directly required for understanding the invention and the auxiliary devices required for performing a frequency comparison are not illustrated in more detail for reasons of clarity.
In the drawing: Fig.l shows a longitudinal section through the stroboscope, essentially through the axis of the synchronous motor, Fig.2 shows a rear view of the frame of the stroboscope with a top view of the continuously variable reversing gear including part of the reduction gear, and Fig.3 shows a Front view of the stroboscope, in which the front panel is shown in a broken away view.
The frame of the stroboscope is composed of a front mounting plate 4 and a rear intermediate support 5 of the substantially angled shape. The intermediate carrier 5 is rigidly attached to the mounting plate 4 by means of screws not shown in detail. The mounting plate 4 has a can-shaped lamp housing 6 in which the fixedly arranged flash tube 7 is accommodated. This is held by means of its power connections in insulators 8 which are fastened in the mounting plate 4. A thin front plate 9, which is provided with a viewing opening 10 adapted to the lamp housing 6, bends on the end face of the lamp housing 6.
The front plate 9 can be fastened to the mounting plate 4 in a detachable manner, for example by means of screws or the like, not shown in detail. In front of the flash tube 7 and still within the lamp housing 6, the slotted disc 11 of the stroboscope, which serves as a display element, is provided, which has a narrow sector-shaped slot 12. The slotted disk 11 sits on one end of the rotor shaft 13 of a synchronous motor, the rotor 14 of which is provided in a known manner with pronounced poles and permanent magnets. The stator 15 of the synchronous motor carries the single or multi-phase winding 16 and is fastened in the stator housing 17.
The rotor shaft 13 is rotatably mounted relative to the stator housing 17 by means of ball bearings 18. The stator housing 17 is for its part rotatably supported by means of the two slide bearings 19 and 20 in the frame (4, 5) of the stroboscope about an axis which coincides with the axis of rotation of the rotor shaft 13. Finally, a gearwheel 21 made of insulating material is screwed onto the stator housing 17 and simultaneously serves as a carrier for a plurality of slip rings 22 which are concentric with one another. The slip rings 22 are connected to the ends of the winding 16, which, however, is not illustrated in more detail.
Power is supplied to the slip rings 22 via brushes 23, the insulating housings 24 of which are fastened in the intermediate carrier 5. The auxiliary shaft 25 of a reduction gear is also mounted in the latter. One gear 26 attached to the auxiliary shaft 25 is in engagement with the gear 21 and the other gear 27 attached to the auxiliary shaft 25 is in mesh with a worm 28. The translation of this reduction gear is selected so that the speed of the stator housing 17 - and thus also the speed of the stator 15 and its winding 16 - is, for example, about 200 times lower than the speed of the worm 28.
The latter is, in turn, fastened together with the removal wheel 29 on the axially displaceable shaft 30 of a friction gear, the driving ring gear 31 of which sits on the end of the rotor shaft 13 facing away from the slotted disk 11. The friction gear (29 to 31) shown represents a continuously variable reversing gear, which contains the speed ratio zero, so that the stator 15 can be rotated in one or the other direction of rotation and at an adjustable speed simply by axially shifting the worm shaft 30 can, wherein the driving rotor 14 rotates with a constant direction of rotation.
The axial displaceability of the shaft 30 is achieved by two longitudinal bearings 32 and 33 and by a transverse bearing 34. The transverse bearing 34 is guided in a slide guide 35 mounted in the intermediate carrier 5. It is pressed by means of a leaf spring 36 in a direction which presses the removal wheel 29 sufficiently against the ring gear 31. Furthermore, the one longitudinal bearing 33 is guided axially displaceably in a bush 37 and rests against a cam disk 38.
The other longitudinal bearing 32 is under the influence of a further leaf spring 39, which strives to push the shaft 30 in a direction pointing towards the cam disk 38, so that the axial position of the shaft 30 is always determined by the respective position of the cam disk 38. The cam disk 38 sits directly on a shaft 40 which is rotatably mounted in the frame (4, 5) and which is provided with an adjusting knob 41 at its end protruding beyond the front plate 9.
A friction brake 42 acting between the shaft 40 and the mounting plate 4 prevents unwanted adjustment
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Stroboscope is rotatably mounted that the strobe of the shaft and the cam 38 seated on it. Furthermore, an end stop 43 is also provided, which limits the angle of rotation of the shaft 40. Finally, a pointer 44 is attached to the setting knob 41, which, in conjunction with a knitted scale 45 attached to the front plate 9, represents a reading means for the frequency comparison carried out.
If the synchronous motor (14 to 17) is not self-starting, a starter knob 46 can also be attached to the rotor shaft 13, by means of which the synchronous motor is started in the desired direction of rotation.
In the drawing, the zero position of the friction gear, which simultaneously acts as a reversing gear, is shown, in which the wheel 29 touches the ring gear 31 exactly in its center. The speed ratio between the rotor 14 and the stator 15 is then zero and the stator 15 is held. The rotor shaft 13 will accordingly run with respect to the frame (4, 5) at a synchronous speed given by the number of poles of the synchronous motor. If you now adjust the longitudinal position of the displaceable shaft 30 by means of the adjusting knob 41 so that the take-off wheel 29 touches the ring gear 31 outside its center, the stator 15 will also rotate at a certain greatly reduced speed with respect to the frame (4, 5).
If the stator 15 rotates in the same direction as the rotor 14, the rotor shaft 13 will rotate with the sum of the synchronous speed and the stator speed. Correspondingly, with the opposite direction of rotation of the stator 15 with respect to the rotor 14, the rotor shaft 13 is rotated at a speed which is equal to the synchronous speed reduced by the stator speed. The deviations of the speed of the rotor shaft 13 from the synchronous speed of the synchronous motor are therefore determined in terms of size and sign exclusively by the mechanical transmission between stator 15 and rotor 14.
These speed deviations are also proportional to the synchronous speed, with the proportionality factor being able to be varied continuously between 0 and approximately 0.003 in the device described. The speed of the rotor shaft 13 can accordingly be regulated continuously between 0.997 and 1.003 times the synchronous speed. The graduated scale 45 can thus either be calibrated directly in units of the synchronous speed or in deviations from the synchronous speed; However, it can also display a rate deviation in seconds per day, provided that the frequency comparison carried out is to be measured in the units customary in time measurement technology.
In practical use of the stroboscope, the alternating current process to be compared with regard to its frequency is applied to the connection terminals of the flash tube 7 - if necessary with the interposition of an electronic amplifier generating short voltage pulses. The synchronous motor (14 to 17) is connected via the brushes 23 to an alternating current generator which supplies the comparison frequency. Its frequency does not need to be variable and an alternating current generator with a highly constant frequency, such as a quartz-controlled tube generator, is advantageously used.
The entire frequency comparison process now consists in observing the light flash visible through the rotating slotted disk 11 and using the setting knob 41 to find the position in which the light flash is spatially stationary. The pointer 44 then immediately indicates the existing frequency or frequency deviation on the graduated scale 45.
In the field of time measurement technology, the stroboscope described is particularly suitable for quickly determining the rate of clocks, with the clock strikes being fed electrically to the flash tube 7 and feeding the synchronous motor (14 to 17) with a suitable standard frequency. The scale 45 can be calibrated directly in seconds and minutes, which indicate the rate deviation per day.
