Steuereinrichtung an Klimaanlage Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine Steuereinrichtung an einer Klimaanlage, gekennzeichnet durch eine Rohrleitung, durch die klimatisierte Luft strömt;
ein in der Rohrleitung angeordnetes und zwecks Öff- nens oder Schliessens in entgegengesetztem Sinn be- wagliches Absperrorgan; einen auf den Druck :der Luft ansprechenden Betätigungsmechanismus, der mit dem Absperrorgan verbunden ist und der mindestens einen in einem Zylinder beweglichen Kolben aufweist, der in diesem Zylinder eine Mehrzahl von Kammern abgrenzt;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Da, wie oben gesagt, die Kammern 24 und 26 sich auf entgegengesetzten Seiten der Rohrleitung befinden, ersieht-man aus der Zeichnung, dass die erste Kammer 24 und die dritte Kammar 3:6 in ,dieser Reihen- folge von innen nach ;aussen auf einer Seite der Rohrlei- tung, und d-ass ,di:ezweiteKamm:er 26 und:dievierte Kammer 42 in dieser Reihenfolge von innen nach aussen auf der entgegengesetzten Seite der Rohrleitung 12 sich befinden;
Es ergibt sich aus dem oben beschriebenen Aufbau, dass der Schieber 20 nach rechts gegen die Schliesslage bewegt wird durch den Druck der Luft, die sich hier bei Umgebungsdruck in der dritten Kammer 36 befindet, und durch die Druckluft, welche von der Rohrleitung 12 in die zweite Kammer 26 eintritt. Druckluft, welche von der Rohrleitung 12 in die erste Kammer 24 eintritt, wirkt auf den Kolben 28 im Sinne des Verstellens des Schiebers 20 nach links gegen die Öffnungslage hin;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
bestimmten Niveau halten.

Control device for an air conditioning system The subject of the invention is a control device for an air conditioning system, characterized by a pipe through which conditioned air flows;
a shut-off element arranged in the pipeline and movable in the opposite direction for the purpose of opening or closing; an actuating mechanism which is responsive to the pressure of the air and which is connected to the shut-off element and which has at least one piston which is movable in a cylinder and which delimits a plurality of chambers in this cylinder;
a first means for maintaining the air pressure in one of these chambers, and a second means, to which, in addition to a first opening with a variable passage cross-section as a result of the movement of the piston, a second opening with a variable passage cross-section belongs, for controlling the flow rate and the pressure of the air in another of the said chambers.
The drawing represents an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
The single figure shows this exemplary embodiment schematically in section.
A flow control unit, which is collectively designated by 10, is used to control the flow of warm compressed air through a pipe 12 from an air conditioner to the compartment 14, for example to a lounge in a passenger aircraft. From this compartment, the used air flows through a line 16 past a temperature sensing device 18 to the outside.
The invention is not concerned with the design of the air conditioner itself and its connection to the line 12. Furthermore, it should be noted that the following will probably mean that the control unit 10 is used to control the flow of warm air for the purpose of temperature regulation, but instead for the same purpose the cooling air flow could be controlled.
The control unit 10 has a slide 20 which is movable in the clear space of the pipeline 12, in one sense for the purpose of closing and in the other sense for the purpose of opening. The slide shown is a plate of generally. rectangular shape that can be moved transversely to the longitudinal direction of the pipeline 12; the opening 22, which is provided in the slide, has a shape which expediently corresponds to the clearance profile of the pipeline 12. It should be mentioned, however, that a different shut-off device could be used instead of the slide, e.g.
B. a butterfly valve which would then have to be connected in a suitable manner to the pistons 28 and 30 mentioned below.
A first chamber 24 and a second chamber 26 are provided in the slide actuator mechanism; these two chambers are in communication with a common source of compressed air. In the arrangement shown, the chambers 24 and 26 are located on opposite sides of the pipeline and the walls of the latter are spaced a certain distance from the valve 20 to form a pair of passages 23, 25 ,. which are in communication with the chamber 24 or with the chamber 26, so that compressed air can enter the chambers from the pipeline 12.
A first piston 28 works in a cylinder 32 in which it delimits the first chamber 24 and a second piston 30 works in a cylinder 34 in which it delimits the second chamber 26; The pistons 28 and 30 are expediently firmly connected to the two ends of the slide 20.
The piston 30 and the chamber 26 have a larger diameter than the piston 28 and the chamber 24; The area of the piston 30 is expediently twice as large as that of the piston 28.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A third chamber 36 formed by piston 28 in cylinder 32 can be connected to a source of air under reference pressure through port 38 which is conveniently connected to air under ambient pressure.
The piston 30 also delimits a fourth chamber 42 in the cylinder 34, which is connected to the said second chamber 26, for the purpose of being fed with compressed air through an opening 44 which is present in the piston 30. Incidentally, it should be mentioned that the ambient pressure in the chambers 24 and 26 and, instead, the feed pressure in the chamber 36, could prevail without the operating principle of the actuating mechanism changing anything.
Since, as said above, the chambers 24 and 26 are on opposite sides of the pipeline, it can be seen from the drawing that the first chamber 24 and the third chamber 3: 6 in, this order from the inside to the outside one side of the pipeline, and d-ass, di: second comb: he 26 and: the fourth chamber 42 are located in this order from inside to outside on the opposite side of pipeline 12;
the diameters of the first chamber 24 and the third chamber 36 are the same, so that a reciprocating movement of the piston in the corresponding cylinder is possible; similarly, the diameters of the second chamber 26 and the fourth chamber 42 are equal among themselves to enable reciprocation of the piston 30 in the corresponding cylinder.
In the arrangement shown, the slide moves into the open position when it moves towards the first chamber 24 and the third chamber 36, whereas it moves into the closed position when it approaches the second chamber 26 and the fourth chamber 42 ; a stop 40 is provided in the third and outer chamber 36 in order to limit the movement of the slide in the opening direction.
According to the invention, means are provided for controlling the flow of compressed air from the second chamber 26 to the fourth chamber 42. These means comprise a conical valve needle 46 which penetrates the above-mentioned opening 44 which is present in the piston 30; this valve needle is firmly connected with its thinner end to the end wall of the chamber 42.
It can be seen that a movement of the member consisting of the piston 28, the slide 20 and the piston 30 against the opening position of the slide 20 results in a gradual reduction in the flow cross section of the opening 44 and a corresponding reduction in the flow through this opening 44 from the second chamber 26 into the fourth chamber 42. Conversely, a movement of the member 28, 20, 30 into the closed position of the slide 20 increases the flow cross section of the opening 44 and the flow to the chamber 42.
An outlet 48 is connected at its one end to the chamber 42 and at its other end has a second opening 50 for allowing air to flow out of the chamber 42 into a container in which a reference pressure prevails; This reference pressure is expediently the ambient pressure, so that it corresponds to the air pressure that prevails in the third chamber 36.
A temperature sensing device 18 is associated with the opening 50 for the purpose of changing the flow cross section and the outflow of air from the chamber 42. Any temperature sensing device could be used here in which a member is set proportionally to the temperature; In our exemplary embodiment, this device is embodied by a liquid-filled tubular bellows 52. The latter is expediently fastened at one end to a wall of the line 16, but could instead be arranged in the line 12 or in the compartment 14.
A rod 54 or the like is attached to the other end of the can, the free end of which carries a throttle plate 56 which serves to change the effective passage cross section of the opening 50 as a function of the temperature which is sensed by the can 52. For example, an expansion of the can 52 as a result of a temperature increase in the room to be air-conditioned via the rod 54 causes the throttle plate 56 to move away from the opening 50, whereby the effective passage cross section of the latter is enlarged. Sealing means are indicated at 58, which prevent liquid from flowing out of the can 52.
It results from the structure described above that the slide 20 is moved to the right against the closed position by the pressure of the air, which is here at ambient pressure in the third chamber 36, and by the compressed air flowing from the pipe 12 into the second chamber 26 enters. Compressed air, which enters the first chamber 24 from the pipeline 12, acts on the piston 28 in the sense of moving the slide 20 to the left towards the open position;
the pressure of the air in the fourth chamber 42 also acts on the piston 30 in the same way, the pressure that prevails in this chamber being determined by the respective sizes of the passage cross-sections of the openings 44 and 50, which sizes in turn are determined by the valve needle 46 or can be determined by the temperature sensing device 18.
If warm air now flows through the line 12 during operation, the control unit 10 can be used to limit the air temperature in the compartment 14 or to maintain a preselected air temperature in this compartment 14.
Assuming that the pressure of the ambient air in the chamber 36 and the pressure in the chambers 24 and 26 remain essentially constant, in order to maintain a balance: the forces resulting from these pressures and acting on the slide must be unconcerned about the position of the The pressure of the air in the chamber 42 is always on a slide
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
hold a certain level.
This air pressure level is controlled at the same time by the valve needle 46, which changes the passage cross section of the opening 44 as a result of a movement of the piston 30, and by the temperature sensing device 18, which changes the passage cross section of the opening 50, as a function of the air temperature in Compartment 14.
For example, if the air temperature in the compartment 14 decreases, the can 52 contracts, reducing the passage cross section 50 and consequently causing a pressure increase in the discharge line 48, which pressure increase is transmitted to the chamber 42. The resulting pressure difference causes the member 30, 20, 28 to be shifted to the left, towards the open position of the slide 20.
As a result of this movement, the effective passage cross section of the opening 44 is gradually reduced by the conical valve needle 46, and the air pressure in the discharge line 48 and in the chamber 42 is reduced accordingly.
As soon as the air pressure in the chamber 42 has been reduced to the level at which the forces acting on the member 20, 28, 30 resulting from the pressures are balanced, this member comes to rest in a new position, the closer is in the fully open position so that more warm air can flow through the slide opening 22 to the compartment 14. If the air temperature in the compartment 14 increases, the mode of operation is similar, but of course in the opposite sense, so that ultimately less warm air flows to the compartment 14.
It should also be mentioned that the slide of the control unit is in equilibrium when the pressure in chamber 42 is half the sum of the reference pressure and the pressure in chambers 24 and 26 (provided that the area of the piston 30 is twice as large as that of the piston 28).
It emerges from the above description of the mode of operation that a rapid response of the control unit to every change in temperature can be expected because the pressure change in the fourth chamber 42 occurs without any appreciable delay due to the valve needle 46 as a result of a movement of the piston 30. This peculiarity of the mode of operation is particularly desirable where the control unit is used for rapid temperature regulation, since the majority of the temperature sensors available on the market are characterized by slow operation, and the need for a quickly responding control unit is therefore particularly urgent in these applications.
In practice, slight fluctuations in the air pressure in the line 12 and the pressure of the ambient air in the chamber 36 must be expected; these fluctuations will not affect the accurate operation of the temperature controller. It should be mentioned that in the majority of air conditioning systems, fluctuations in the pressure of the conditioned air correspond to fluctuations in the ambient pressure; . In other words, if it is z.
B. is an air conditioning system of a passenger aircraft and this alternately flies in higher or lower regions and accordingly the ambient pressure is lower or higher, it can be expected that the pressure of the air-conditioned air decreases or increases accordingly. As a result, it can be expected that the air pressure in all the chambers mentioned will change accordingly, with the result that such pressure fluctuations have only a minor influence on the accuracy of the operation.
