33, 34, 35, 36 befinden.
Air cooler for the charge air of multi-cylinder internal combustion engines The invention relates to an air cooler for the charge air of multi-cylinder internal combustion engines. It can be used in particular in diesel engines and preferably in marine diesel engines.
It has long since gone over to vorzuverdich the combustion air of such machines, and often uses the exhaust gases from the internal combustion engines to drive the loader, which at the same time increases the efficiency. In particular, supercharger fans are used, which are driven by an exhaust gas turbine. Such charging fans deliver the charge air evenly, while the individual cylinders of the internal combustion engine remove the air periodically. This results in the need to provide buffer spaces between the charging fan and the air inlet points of the individual cylinder cylinders.
In addition, the charge air is heated very strongly during compression, so that there is a need to cool it before it is introduced into the cylinders.
Accordingly, an air filter is used between the charger and the cylinders, one or more buffer spaces that suppress the vibrations, and a cooling system that brings the heated charge air to the appropriate operating temperature at which the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine supplies a sufficient amount of air can be. These three facilities he require a considerable union space in the usual constructions, which in many cases, especially in marine diesel engines, is not available or is difficult to obtain.
The object of the invention is now to create a structurally more favorable solution in which the three devices can be combined to form a structural unit. The buffer spaces used so far can take cooler and filter on with a suitable design of the proposed construction. In such a case, the cooler is given a significantly greater length, taking into account the number of cylinders, with a corresponding reduction in the cooler width. The structural summary brings significant space savings, which is particularly advantageous in marine diesel engines.
Furthermore, with such a combination you get a favorable loading of the cooling surface and better buffer conditions to compensate for the air vibrations, since the cooler is relocated to the location of the uneven removal and acts there as a damping element due to its flow resistance.
According to the invention, the cooler, which is designed as a charge air distributor, is characterized in that it has an axial air supply and a space through which the supplied air flows, contains a coolant-carrying organs and is enclosed by a jacket, from which the air outlets branch off.
Since the charge air is often not completely pure, one or more air filters are also advantageously provided between the exhaust line of the charger and the cooling devices, which are preferably interchangeable in order to enable easy cleaning.
The air cooler expediently has a cylindrical shape. The charge air enters axially, and several radial or tangential charge air outlets corresponding in number and arrangement to the charge air supply lines of the cylinders can be provided.
There are various possible designs for the design of the air cooler according to the invention. In an advantageous embodiment, the air cooler is axially parallel, by a coolant, for. B. water, penetrated straight cooling tubes.
Instead of straight cooling tubes, cooling coils can also be used.
In the drawings, exemplary embodiments for the subject matter of the invention are shown schematically. 1 shows a longitudinal section through an air cooler according to the invention, with the central part broken away, FIG. 2 shows the subject matter of FIG. 1 in cross section in the area of the drainage connection, FIG. 3 shows a longitudinal section through another configuration of the air cooler , whereby the longitudinal scale is greatly reduced compared to the transverse scale,
and FIG. 4 shows a cross section through the object of FIG. 3 at the location of the first charge air outlet. 1 and 2, the air cooler is essentially formed by a cylinder jacket 1, which is equipped at its ends with flanges 2 and 3 from. The first tube sheet 4, in which the cooling tubes 5 through which the water flows, is rolled, lies against the flange 2 arranged on the right. The cooling tubes end in a second tube sheet 6, which can move in the axial direction when thermal stresses occur, with a stuffing box 7 maintaining the seal.
On the pipe bottom 4 a hood 8 is placed, which what serzuführungsstutzen 9 has. The water drainage connector 12 is provided on the hood 11. The hood 8 is penetrated by the charge air inlet pipe 18, which feeds the charge air to the central pipe 19. This central tube 19 extends from the first tube bottom 4 to the second tube sheet 6 and is sealed against it, where on one side given a movable seal such. B. a pack may be provided. Within the central tube there is a number of tubular filter bodies 20, 21, 22 which are supported by rings 23 at their ends against the central tube.
(To facilitate understanding, the ring 23 associated with the filter tube 22, which is visible per se, is omitted in FIG. 2.) As FIG. 2 shows, the central tube 19 is slotted at 24 opposite the air outlet openings 13, 14, 15.
Furthermore, an additional connection for a line 16, 17, which is arranged above and below, is provided on the air cooler, which is used for flushing or emptying if leaks have occurred or cleaning is necessary.
In the illustrated embodiment of the charge air distributor according to the invention, the air enters at 18. It comes from here in the central part of the central tube 19 and penetrates the filter tubes 20, 21, 22 in the radial direction. It leaves the central tube 19 through the slot 24 and then flows in the circumferential direction between the cooling tubes 5, which are preferably provided with transverse ribs in order to enlarge the cooling surface. As can be seen in FIG. 2, the cooling tubes can be arranged in two groups, so that the charge air can flow around the center tube 19 on both sides (top and bottom in FIG. 2) and can be cooled.
The air then passes from the interior of the cylindrical casing 1 into the charge air outlets 13, 14, 15.
After removing the hood 8, the filter system 20, 21, 22 or the cooling system 4, 5, 6 can be pulled out of the air cooler separately or together for testing, repair and cleaning.
In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 and 2, each partial amount of air penetrates its own path 20, 15 or 21, 14 or 22, 13, unless mutual compensation occurs. But it is also possible to make the arrangement so that the entire amount of cooling air always flows through the entire cooling air system. Here too, however, the arrangement is such that the cooling system is assigned a number of charge air outlet openings corresponding to the number of cylinders, so that the entire structure serves as a distributor, buffer space and cooler at the same time.
3 and 4 give such a different embodiment, which will prove particularly useful in many cases. The cylindrical shell 30 is provided with two end flanges 31 and 32. In the cylindrical wall there are four charge air outlet openings 33, 34, 35 and 36. A tube sheet 37 rests on the flange 31, in which the cooling tubes 38 are, for example, rolled. These cooling tubes end on the other side in the tube sheet 39, which rests against the inner wall of the cylindrical casing 30 with a sealing flange 40. The cooling system consisting of the tubes 38 is enclosed by an intermediate tube 41 which is carried ge from the tube sheet 39 and ends in front of the tube sheet 37.
On the tube sheet 37 is a subdivided by a transverse wall not provided is hood 42, which is provided with a water supply 43 and a water drain 44. The water flows through the lower cooling tubes 38 to the left into the space of the inverted floor 45 and from there through the upper cooling tubes 38 into the upper half of the hood 42, where it can exit at 44. The hood 42 is penetrated by a pipe 46 which is closed to the loader. This tube 46 is followed by the central tube 47, which is inserted tightly into the tube sheet 37 and ends at a distance in front of the tube sheet 39. Inside the central tube 47 is the frustoconical filter 48, which is closed at its smaller end surface by a hood 49 sen.
The cooling tubes 38 are provided with longitudinal ribs in the area in which the intermediate tube 41 and the overlap with telrohr 47, while they are in the area between the end of the intermediate tube 41 and the tube sheet 37 and in the area between the end of the central tube 47 and the tube sheet 39 are free of ribs.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the charge air enters at 46 and the replaceable frustoconical filter 48 sets through first and the intermediate tube 41. Here it flows axially parallel along the cooling tubes 38, in order to then be deflected again radially in the space between the free end of the intermediate tube 41 and the tube sheet 37. After this deflection, the air enters the space between the intermediate tube 41 and the jacket 30, from which it can be removed through the outlet openings 33, 34, 35 and 36 men.
Here, too, the filter 48 and the cooling system 37, 38, 39 can be pulled out so that they can be easily checked, repaired and cleaned. In many cases it will also be useful in the construction according to FIGS. 3 and 4 to disassemble the filter into partial lengths.
In order to allow at least partial exposure of the tubes 5 and 38 for the purpose of inspection, the jacket 1 or 30 can have one or more openings which are closed by removable covers. These openings and covers are not shown in the drawing. For example, an opening can extend over part of the axial length of the jacket 1 or 30 between the flanges 2 and 3 or 31 and 32, or the jacket can be provided with several openings, each of which is opposite one of the air outlet openings 13, for example , 14, 15 or 33, 34, 35, 36 are located.
