Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf die Trichteröffnung.

Device for strengthening the sliver in spinning machines
The invention relates to a device for consolidating the sliver in spinning machines.
In spinning machines, a funnel guide is used to fold the fibers together before they are placed in the spinning cans.
Before it is moved into the funnel, the sliver is essentially untwisted, and when it is deposited in the spinning can, no twist occurs if appropriate, known depositing devices are used. If such an untwisted sliver is later pulled from the spinning can, it tears easily.
With the device according to the invention it is now possible to increase the strength of the sliver to be deposited in the spinning can without twisting.
For this purpose, the device according to the invention is characterized in that the funnel feeding the sliver to the spinning can is stepped on the inside between the conical and the cylindrical part at least once. As a result, the outer fibers of the continuous band are pressed inwards, where they intertwine more or less strongly with the middle fibers and thus increase the strength of the band significantly, as tests have shown.
The drawing shows, for example, schematically and partially in section, an embodiment of the invention. In the drawing is:
Fig. 1 is a section through a device for consolidating the sliver in spinning machines,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the funnel opening.
The funnel 10 feeds the sliver (not shown) to a pair of calender or drawing rollers 11, 12, from which the sliver then enters the winding head 14 and the spinning can 15. The funnel 10 is seated in a plate 20 in which it is prevented from rotating by the split pin 21. As usual, the funnel consists of a conical inlet 30 and a cylindrical outlet 31. Between the parts 30 and 31 there is a larger and a smaller cylindrical recess 33 and 34, respectively. This creates two steps 35 and 37.
By this relatively simple device, the bands running through the funnel are strongly consolidated. The outside fibers of the tape are apparently thrown jerkily into the inside of the tape when the fiber tape is pulled through the funnel by means of the calender rollers as it enters the next larger part of the cylinder and interweaves without giving up their parallel course and without twisting with those running in the middle of the tape Fibers.
