Method and device for injection molding molded parts made of plastic
The present invention relates to a method for injection molding molded pieces made of plastic and a device for carrying out this method.
It is known that plastics which contain no or only small amounts of a plasticizer, e.g. B. hard polyvinyl chlorides, can not be brought into a homogeneous, plastic state by simply heating them, which is why they cannot be injected directly into molded parts with conventional extrusion machines. On the other hand, a method for injecting molded pieces made of such plastics has become known, in which the raw material to be injected is first continuously shaped into a plastically deformable strand by means of an extrusion molding device, from which a volume metered piece is then placed under the pressing cylinder of an injection molding device in such a way that it is still plastically deformable Pressure is supplied so that an equal volume of plasticized material is injected from the press cylinder into the cavity of an injection mold by the supply pressure.
In this case, volume-dosed strand pieces must be produced in a first machine part, which are then inserted into a second machine part and there pressed into the press cylinder. This method allows only a relatively slow operation and requires a relatively complicated machine. The purpose of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantages mentioned. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the raw material to be injected is continuously plasticized and fed alternately to a first and a second metering chamber, with the material contained in the other metering chamber being injected into the cavity of an injection mold while one metering chamber is being filled.
The device for carrying out the method, which is also the subject of the invention, has a plasticizing device provided with heating means and material and conveying means, two press cylinders which simultaneously serve as metering cylinders, with each of which a plunger interacts, and a reversing device with which the plasticizing device alternates with one and with the other press cylinder can be brought into connection, while at the same time the other or the one press cylinder is connected to a spray nozzle upstream of the mold.
This ensures that the work of the plasticizing device does not have to be interrupted during the injection process and that, as a result of the pressing cylinder operating alternately as a metering and as an extrusion device, practically continuous operation of the device is possible despite the shot-by-shot injection.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown schematically in axial section; With reference to this drawing, the method, which is also the subject of the invention, will also be explained in more detail, for example.
The plasticizing device, a so-called extruder, has, in a manner known per se, a hy draulic motor 1 which drives an axially fixed kneading or conveyor screw 3 via a gear transmission 2. The gear 2 can be stepwise or steplessly adjustable, while the worm can be a single or multiple worm. The kneading and conveyor screw 3 works in a liquefaction chamber 4, which is enclosed by a heating jacket 5. A filling funnel 6 is placed on the chamber 4, the outlet of which opens into the inlet section of the chamber 4. The chamber 4, which is conically tapered at its outlet end, opens into a feed bore 7 in a cylinder block 8 lying transversely to the chamber axis. The feed bore 7 leads to a bore 9 in which a double-acting rotary slide 10 is arranged.
In the cylinder block 8 there are two cylinder bores 11 a, 1 ib, the axis of which intersects the axis of the feed bore 7 on the axis of the bore 9. The cylinder bores 11a, 11b are each connected to the bore 9 at their mutually facing ends by two channels 12a, 12b in the cylinder block 8. In the axial extension of the feed bore 7, an injection channel 13 leads from the bore 9 to an injection head 14 with a conical end face and a central nozzle bore 15 which is fastened to the corresponding part of the cylinder block 8.
The cylinder block 8 is each provided with a heating jacket 16 in the area of the cylinder bores 11 a, 1 ib and the injection channel 13. The injection head 14 protrudes into a recess of a support plate 17a which carries one half 18a of an injection mold, the second half 18b of which is carried by a second support plate 17b. The two support plates 17a, 17b can be moved towards and away from one another in the direction of the axis of the nozzle bore 15. The first mold half 18a is provided with an inlet bore 18c, which is in alignment with the nozzle bore 15 of the spray head 14. A press piston 19a or 19b each works in the two cylinder bores 11a, 11b.
The press pistons 19a and 19b are replaceably attached to a servo piston 20a and 20b, respectively, which work in a servo cylinder 21a and 21b. The servo cylinders 21a, 21b are connected by a line 22a and 22b via a two-way valve 23a and 23b on the one hand to a pressure line 24a or 24b and on the other hand to a common return line 25. An adjustable pressure relief valve 26 is arranged in the return line 25. The actuation of the servo pistons 20a, 20b can take place hydraulically or pneumatically.
With the device described, the spraying process is carried out as follows: The plates 17a, 17b have been moved towards one another for the purpose of closing the mold 18a, 18b and, in addition, the mouth of the inlet bore 18c is pressed against the nozzle mouth of the spray head 14. The material to be sprayed is fed into the chamber 4 through the funnel 6 in granulated or powdery form.
The material fed to the chamber 4 is heated by the heating jacket 5 and kneaded into a plastic mass by means of the screw 3 in a known manner. It is assumed that the rotary valve 10 and the two-way cocks 23a and 23b assume the position shown in the drawing. The screw 3 conveys the plastic mass from the chamber 4 through the feed bore 7 via the connecting channel 12a into the cylinder bore 11a. The piston 19a and with it the servo piston 20a are moved outward in the direction of arrow a by the mass penetrating into the bore 11a; In the process, pressure fluid is displaced from the servo cylinder 21a via the cock 23a, overcoming the load on the pressure relief valve 26 into the return line 25. The load on the pressure relief valve 26 is adapted to the delivery pressure of the screw 3.
At the same time, the servo cylinder 21b is supplied from the pressure line 24b via the two-way valve 23b through the connecting channel 22b pressure fluid. As a result, the servo piston 20b and with it the piston 19b is moved inward in the direction of arrow b. In the cylinder bore llb, dosed to the correct amount, plastic mass is pressed out of the cylinder bore llb by the piston 19b and passes through the connecting channel 1 2b into the injection channel 13, from where it passes through the nozzle bore 15 and the inlet bore 1 8c into the Mold cavity is injected.
The arrangement is made in such a way that, at the same time as the end of the injection process, the provision of the mass to be injected in the next operation in the cylinder bore 11a is also completed. The rotary slide valve 10 and the two-way cocks 23a and 23b are now brought into their second setting position by means not shown, suitably automatically operating; the rotary valve 10 establishes the connection between the chamber 4 and the cylinder bore 11b on the one hand and between the injection channel 13 and the cylinder bore 11a on the other hand, while the two-way valve 23a connects the pressure line 24a with the servo cylinder 21a and the two-way valve 23b connects the servo cylinder 21b with the Connect return line 25.
The screw 3 now conveys plastic material into the cylinder bore 11b, while at the same time the plastic material located there in the correct dosage is injected from the cylinder bore 11a into the mold emptied from the mold during the reversal and closed again.
The filling time of the cylinder bores 11a and 11b is set by adjusting the delivery rate of the screw 3 by means of the gear 2 so that it is at least equal to the time of a full cycle of the mold halves (closing, spraying, opening); the screw can then work continuously despite the shot-by-shot injection process. Since injection molding takes place all the time, except during short interim times for opening and closing the mold, and since there are no downtimes for metering the injection compound, the throughput capacity of the plasticizing device can practically be fully utilized.
