Machine for applying a layer of thermoplastic material to a fabric web The present invention relates to a machine for applying a layer of thermoplastic polymer to a fabric web with - counted from one end of the machine - a rotatable axis for receiving the fabric web wrap and with devices for Guiding the fabric web unwinding from the axis during the coating process to a doctor blade device, which is intended to
to achieve a continuous layer of the plastic mass applied to the fabric web in front of the doctor blade device, furthermore with a drying oven for the plastic layer applied to the fabric web.
The machine according to the invention is characterized in that the end section of the machine, which lies behind the outlet end of the drying oven, is at least approximately a mirror image of the section of the machine in front of the drying oven, so that the plastic-covered fabric web coming out of the oven can be wound onto a second axle, which corresponds to the first-mentioned axle, and, after it has been wound onto the second axle, thereby,
that it leads through the machine in the opposite direction and is rewound onto the first axis, with the help of the devices attached behind the furnace it can be provided with another layer of plastic.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view showing the parts that make up the machine. Fig.2 is a plan view of part of the machine.
Figure 3 shows a cross-section along the line III-III of Figure 2. Figure 4 is a plan view of another part of the machine.
FIG. 5 shows a cross section along the line V-V of FIG. 4.
In FIG. 1, 1 designates a rotatable shaft on which a fabric web 2 is wound up to form a roll 3. With 4, 5 and 6 rotatable rollers be distinguished, which serve to guide the web 2 after a doctor device 7 out.
Of these guide rollers, those denoted by 4 and 5 are freely rotatable and serve to steer the web upwards in such a way that a considerable part of the surface of the roller 6 is covered by the web 2. As can be seen from Fig. 1, the roller 6 has a significantly larger diameter than the rollers 4 and 5, and unlike the latter, the roller 6 can be stopped,
so that the web 2 can slide along the peripheral surface of the roller 6 ent. The roller 6 can alternately be set in motion so that its peripheral speed is lower than the speed of the web. It can be seen that a certain stretching of the web 2 can be achieved with this guide device, which can be increased by arranging one or both of the rollers 4, 5 so that it can also be stopped.
The part of the web 2 which runs from the roll 6 is horizontal and is supported by a number of Rol len 8, which are located under the doctor device 7. 9 with a drying oven is designated, through which the web 2 runs and which serves to dry the plastic layer which is continuously distributed on the web with the aid of the doctor device 7.
10 denotes an embossing device which is attached between the doctor device 7 and the inlet end of the furnace 9, while the arrow 11 indicates the direction in which the web is moving in the machine.
A space must be created between the axis 1 and the roller 4 that a worker can comfortably stay in so that the web 2 is manually covered with a plastic compound between the plates 30 (FIG. 3) in front of the doctor device 7 or 16 can be, with constant control is necessary that the plastic mass placed on the fabric web is spread over the entire width of the fabric.
The end section of the machine which is behind the end of the drying oven 9 is arranged in the same way as the end section in front of the inlet of the oven, which is why it can be said that the rear end section is a mirror image of the front end section. The rear end section therefore contains an axis 12 which corresponds to axis 1 and on which the plastic-covered web 2 can be wound up.
Furthermore, the last-mentioned end section 12 contains two diversion rollers 13, 14 which correspond to the diversion rollers 4, 5, as well as a roller 15 which corresponds to the roller 6.
The squeegee device of the rear end section is designated 16 and also corresponds to the squeegee device 7 of the front end section, and finally an embossing device 17, which corresponds to the embossing device 10, is attached between the squeegee device 16 and the outlet end of the furnace 9 .
When starting the machine, the Ge fabric web 2 is pulled by the machine towards the axis 12, on which the fabric web rolls up. The axle 12 is connected to a motor which rotates the axle in the direction of the arrow so that the web is wound onto the axle 12.
A suitable amount of thermoplastic material mass is supplied in front of the doctor device 7 in a manner known per se, the knife device processed the mass so that a continuous layer of the same is spread out on the web. In the event that the web covered with the mass is to be embossed, the embossing only takes place when the web has durchlau fen the drying oven 9, and the embossing device designated 10 is therefore ineffective when the web 2 is in the direction indicated by the arrow 11 moves.
After drying in the oven 9, the web 2 runs through the embossing device 17 and also the doctor device 16, which is ineffective, up to the axis 12 on which the web is continuously wound.
If the entire length of the web is covered with a layer of plastic and you want to attach another layer on it, the axis 12 is brought to a standstill, while the axis 1 is now driven and is made to rotate in the opposite direction. It can be seen that in this case the squeegee device 16 is used while the squeegee device 7 is no longer effective, in the same way the embossing device 17 is then switched off, while the embossing device 10 is set in motion if the one with plastic wishes to emboss occupied web.
To save material, a cheap sheet of suitable material can be attached to each end of the fabric sheet 2. The entire length of these special end webs must be set up so that when the machine is started, the web 2 is only brought into contact with the doctor blade device 7 after the end web in question has been drawn through the entire machine and opened the axis 12 has been attached.
The other end web is used if one wishes to apply another plastic layer to the web, in that the end of the web 2 can be passed through the machine up to in front of the doctor device 16, while the last-mentioned end web is still on the axis 1 is attached.
A suitable doctor blade device for use in the machine according to FIG. 1 is shown in FIGS. 2-5. The doctor blade device has a plate 18 which is perpendicular to the web 2, the edge 19 of which on the lower edge is used to process the plastic compound intended for attachment to the web 2. The latter is indicated by a dashed line.
Under the web 2, in direct connection with the upper part of the roller 6 or 15, another plate 20 is attached, which serves as a support for the part of the web 2 which is located between the roller 6 and the plate 18. The plate 20 has an edge 21 which is in the immediate vicinity of the edge 19 of the plate 18. The plate 18 is substantially at right angles to the plane of the web 2, while the plate 20 runs substantially parallel to said plane and is arranged so that the edge 21 is in a plane which is with the side facing the plate 20 the plate 18 collapses.
It can be seen that if one attaches two plates 18, 20 in this way, a continuous and precisely matched plastic layer on the web 2 can be aimed at. The plate 18 is attached at its upper end to a horizontal axis 22, the organs 23 is mounted in storage. On the axis 22, the gear of a worm gear is fastened at each end, with the aid of which the plate 18 can be set in different angular positions in relation to the plane of the web 2. The setting is made manually with the aid of hand wheels 25, which are each attached to the screw 26 of the worm gear.
The plate 18 can also be raised and lowered, for which purpose the bearings 23, in which the axle 22 rests, can be displaced in guides 27 in stands 28. The adjustment of the plate 18 in the vertical direction takes place by means of hand wheels 29.
Above the plate 20, two plates 30 are attached to the top of the web 2, which serve to limit the spread of the plastic mass in the transverse direction of the web, and which are perpendicular to the plane of the web in wesent union. Each of the two plates 30 should rest with its lower edge on the web, preferably something inside the web edge, so that the plastic layer does not extend over the edges of the web, which forms an edge at each edge that is essentially free of plastic.
Each of the two plates 30 abuts with its rear edge against the plate 18 and is supported by this with the aid of the arms 31 which are displaceable in the transverse direction of the web, for the purpose that the plates can be adjusted according to different widths of the web . Each arm 31 is suspended from a toothed rod 32 which extends in the transverse direction of the web 2 and is attached between two tongues 33 which protrude beyond the plate 18.
On the upper part of each arm 31, a gear 34 is also rotatably mounted, wel Ches cooperates with the rack 32 and is rotatable by means of a handwheel 35, so that you can move the arms 31 by turning these handwheels and thus also the ver Arms supported panels 30 in the cross direction of the web. As can be seen most clearly from Fig. 3, each arm 31 is connected to the corresponding plate 30 by means of a pin 36 which engages in a slot 37 in the plate 30, so that the plate is limited upwards and downwards can move down in relation to the arm 31.
Although it is not shown in the drawing, the plate 20 can also be raised and lowered, as well as being displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the web and also in different displacement positions, in order to be able to vary the distance to the edge 19 of the plate 18.
Behind the plate 18 a smoothing device is attached, which consists of a polished to high gloss th sheet, for example aluminum. This sheet metal can be pressed against the upper side of the web 2 with the aid of a screw 39. The smoothing plate 38 is pivotally connected to the plate 18 or another suitable part of the device. Immediately behind the screed plate 38 a rotatable roller 40 is attached, which lies on the underside of the web 2 and serves as a support for the web. The roller 40 can be raised as well as lowered and displaced in the longitudinal direction of the web and can be locked in different positions.
This roller 40 serves the purpose that that part of the web 2 which is located between the screed plate 38 and the roller 40 can be regulated with regard to its position.
In front of the plate 18, as indicated by a dashed line, another roller 41 can be attached over which the web can run, as is also indicated by dashed lines. Since the roller 41 is at a distance above the roller 6, that part of the web 2, which is located between the roller 41 and the edge 19 of the Plattei 18, is obliquely downwards, so that the angle between the mentioned Part of the web and the plate 18 is less than 90 . In this case the plate 20 does not serve as a support for the web, but only its edge 21 forms a resistance when the plastic mass is processed by the edge 19.
The roller 41 is adjustable in both the vertical and horizontal directions.
The stands 28 are supported by a bed 42 so that they are adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the web 2, for the purpose of removing them together with the plates 18, 20 and the other parts of the roller 6 or approaching this roller can. For this purpose, a screw 43 with a handwheel 44 is superimposed on each side of the Bet 42 GE, the screw 43 in a threaded opening in the stand 28 engages. In the example shown, a further doctor blade device 45 is provided (FIGS. 4 and 5), which by and large corresponds to that just described.
However, the plate 20 is missing, in its place on the underside. the web 2 is a roller 46 is placed, which is adjustable in both the vertical and horizontal directions.
In Fig. 4 and 5 an embossing device is shown in more detail, which in this case contains three .in differently patterned embossing rollers 47, 48 and 49, which are on the top of the web and are combined with corresponding rollers on the underside of the web . The embossing rollers 47, 48 and 49 are mounted on a common holder 50 which is rotatable about an axis 51 so that one of the three embossing rollers can optionally be set into the working position by rotating the axis 51.
