Process for the production of pneumatic vehicle wheels from light metal It is known to produce pneumatic vehicle wheels from light metal in such a way that the preferably disk-shaped wheel body and the rim are produced as separate workpieces and connected to one another by welding or nicting. Such wheels have the disadvantage that there are weak points in the area of the riveted or welded connections, which can lead to fractures under the stresses of driving.
This applies in particular to the wheels of high-speed vehicles, so that the desirable use of light metal for these wheels is only possible to a limited extent. For the use of tubeless pneumatic tires, there is an additional disadvantage that leaks can occur at the connection points in the rim wall forming the inner end of the tire air space.
The aim of the invention is to use a novel process to enable the production of light metal wheels, in which the wheel disc and the rim are combined to form a single workpiece while avoiding welding or riveting connections.
The new process consists in forging or pressing a pre-workpiece in a shell shape with a Z-shaped edge cross-section, and then the legs of this Z-shaped edge cross-section are stretched out before the rim is profiled.
This stretching can be done in different ways: According to the first embodiment, the stretching is done by rotating pressing. According to the second embodiment, this stretching is effected essentially cylindrically by extrusion in one or more work stages.
In both cases, the stretching process is followed by finishing, with which the final rim profile is created. This can be done in a manner known per se by rolling, rolling or pressing.
In the drawing, the individual stages of the first embodiment of the inventive method are shown schematically in FIGS. 1-4, while in FIGS. 5-10 </B> the second embodiment is shown, in each case in an axial section through the pressing tool used, the left half of the figure always showing the beginning and the right half of the figure showing the end of the work process.
Description of the first embodiment of the process: The shell-shaped preliminary workpiece shown in FIG. 1 is produced from a light metal round, the base part of which is intended to form the wheel disc and its edge to be deformed towards the rim Is bifurcated in a Z-shape and thereby has two oppositely directed annular legs 2, <B> 3 </B>.
The second working stage (FIG. 2) of the method consists in that the legs 2, 3 of the Z-shaped edge profile of the bowl-shaped pre-workpiece are stretched out by pressing. The pressure rollers <B> 9, 10 </B> serve this purpose with two shaped bodies, rn <B> 6 </B> and <B, which are matched to the inner and outer contours of the workpiece <B> 1 </B> > 8 </B> work together.
The molded bodies <B> 6 </B> and <B> 8 </B> are not closer together with the workpiece <B> 1 </B> by means of a nut <B> 5 </B> on the shaft 4 The press bench shown is clamped so that the moldings and the workpiece join in with the rotary movement of the shaft 4. Through the pressing process who the legs 2 and <B> 3 </B> of the edge cross-section of the shell-shaped starting workpiece to the opposite inclined hollow cones 2 'and <B> 3' </B> stretches out, which together form a V-shaped preliminary profile form for the rim, which goes with its apex into the part of the workpiece forming the wheel disc.
The cone angles a and <B> ss </B> are selected so that the most favorable possible starting cross-section for the further profiling of the rim results.
After the legs 2 and <B> 3 </B> have been extended to the length T 'and <B> 3 "</B>, the final rim profile is generated (Fig. <B> 3). </B> For this Various methods can be used. According to FIG. 3, the final rim profile is shaped by means of a profile roller <B> 13 </B> with two correspondingly profiled equiaxed counter rollers <B> 11 </ B > and 12, between which the workpiece <B> 1 </B> is clamped, interact.
The angles a and <B> ss </B> of the V-shaped pre-profile of the rim are chosen so that the legs T 'and Y' rest on the profile edges of the rollers 11 and 12 so that they are pressed by the roller <B> 13 </B> into the lower-lying profile parts of the roller <B> 11 </B> and 12 located between the profile edges, whereby the final rim profile shown in FIG the wheel disk is generated.
Description of the second embodiment of the method: The first work stage (Fig. 5) consists in that the hub ring 14a and an outer ring 14b are formed on a circular blank 14 by extrusion with simultaneous reduction in thickness.
The press tool consists of two axially movable press punches <B> 15 </B> and <B> 16 </B> and one on the press table <B> 17 </B> the die <B> 18 </ B > as well as a guide die <B> 19 </B> which includes the press ram and the workpiece and contains a base plate 20. For all of the work processes described below, a press tool is also used, the design of which is the same as that of the press tool for the first work stage.
Only the shape of the components of the pressing tool corresponds to the respective workpiece shape.
In the second work stage (Fig. 6), the workpiece is also brought into the shell shape by extrusion, and at the same time by the press punches <B> 15 '</B> and <B> 16 'and the dies 18' and 19 ', the hub ring 14a is pulled out further and the outer ring 14b is forked in a Z-shape, whereby two legs 14c and 14d arise.
After the bottom part of the shell-shaped preliminary workpiece, which is surrounded by the hub ring 14a, has been cut out, in the third work step (FIG. 7) the edge legs 14c and 14d of the preliminary workpiece are extruded by means of the press rams 15- "and <B> 16" </B> and the matrices <B> 18 "</B> and <B> 19" </B> are essentially cylindrically extended.
In the fourth working step (Fig. 8), the tools <B> 15 '", </B> 16" 1, <B> 18' </B> and <B> 19 "' </B> the one edge leg 14c by compression molding the shape corresponding to the final rim profile.
In the fifth working step (FIG. 9), the opposite rim side 14d is preformed. For this purpose, instead of the undivided die, a split die <B> 18 .... </B> is required, furthermore the die <B> 19 .... </B> and the tools <B> 15 .... < / B> 16 "*", <B> 17 '</B> and 20'.
Finally, in the sixth work step (FIG. 10), the edge leg 14d receives the final profile by means of the tools 15 "1", 16 '"f #, 18" "' and 19 /" f ".
In the exemplary embodiment, the rim of the wheel is shown as a tapered shoulder rim with a relatively steep tapered shoulder and with short rim flanges. Of course, other rim shapes can also be generated using the method described.
The second embodiment of the method according to the invention has the particular advantage that all work steps can be carried out on a multiple press by means of pressing tools of the same type and function. Each press tool has two axially movable press rams in an optionally divisible ring-shaped die, the peripheral surfaces of which together with the inner peripheral surface of the die cause the shaping of the edge limbs of the workpiece, while the bottom part of the workpiece is formed between the end faces of the press ram.
