Thermostat intended to actuate - a signaling device when a determined temperature is reached in a heated enclosure The invention relates to a thermostat intended to actuate a signaling device when a determined temperature is reached in a heated enclosure, in particular in the oven of a gas stove in which the gas flow rate to the burners is regulated.
Thermostats are known intended to ensure a uniform temperature determined in the oven of a gas range, by an initial adjustment, appropriate to the desired temperature, from a gas flow valve to the burners, the flow of this valve being controlled by the thermostat.
If the presence of such a thermostat ensures the constant temperature desirable for cooking a dish, it may nevertheless be advantageous to be able to know the precise moment when the desired temperature is reached, so that this dish is not put in the oven. at this time in order to ensure it is cooked at a constant temperature.
The object of the present invention is to respond to this desideratum and, to this effect, it relates to a thermostat intended to actuate a control device. signaling, for example the lighting of a warning lamp or the activation of an acoustic signal, when a determined temperature is reached in the heated enclosure.
According to the invention, this thermostat comprises two levers intended to close an electrical circuit supplying the signaling device, when the angular displacement of one of these levers, which is controlled by the deformation of a dila table element, allowed to the other of these levers, subjected to the action of a spring, to perform a tilting movement bringing it into contact with a cam carried by the axis of a adjustment button as well as with the lever controlled by the expandable element.
A by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention is described below with reference to the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 shows in partial section a view of elevation of the thermostat in its application to a gas range.
Figs. 2 and 3 are detail views of the thermostat shown in fig. 1.
Figs. 4, 5 and 6 show the positions adopted by the thermostat levers when changes occur in the temperature of the cooker oven. The thermostat comprises an expandable metal sheath 1 forming at the same time a passage duct for the gas entering at 2 and leaving at 3, the gas flow to the oven burners being regulated by a thermostatic valve 4 controlled by a non-expandable rod 5 whose position is controlled by the axis 6 of a graduated adjustment knob 7 < / B> and acting on the rod 5 by means of an angled lever 8.
The axis 6 carries a cam 9, whose radius varies in relation to the graduation carried by the button 7.
On the frame 10 of the thermostat is arranged a rocking lever 11 whose axis 12, carried by the frame 10 is located at an appropriate distance from the plane of the cam 9. This lever 11 carries at each of its ends a contact pad 13 and 14 respectively. Below the rocking lever 11 is arranged a lever 15 longer than the lever 11, this lever 15 being articulated to one of its ends to an axis 16 carried by the frame 10 < / B> at a point significantly farther from the cam 9 than is the axis 12.
Between the axis 16 and its free end, the lever 15 carries a contact pad 17 intended to cooperate with the stud 14 of the lever 11, while between the free end of the lever 15 and the end of the lever 11, carrying the contact pad 13, is arranged an antagonist spring 18.
The contact pads 13, 14 and 17 have a rounded profile so as to ensure their contact action during angular movements, described below , levers 11 and 15.
At an appropriate distance from its axis 16, the lever 15 is supported by one end of a rod 19, non-expandable metal, the other end of which rests on a shoulder or lateral support 20 presented by the expandable sheath 1.
An electric circuit connects the cam 9 to the pad 17 by the line 21 supplied by the current source 22 and into which the indicator lamp 23 is connected. </ B>
In the position occupied in fig. 1 by the levers, the circuit supplying the lamp 23 is closed by the stud 13 in contact with the cam 9 </ B > and by the pad 14 in contact with the pad 17, this position of said levers resulting from a determined temperature in the oven of the cooker.
Assuming for example as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, that at the scale of graduations 1 to 10 carried by the button 7 corresponds to an increase in the radius of the cam < B> 9, the thermostat operates as follows: With the oven cold, and the graduated knob 7 being brought, for example, to the gas flow position corresponding to to </ B > the graduation 5 , that is to say at the desired temperature in the oven, the lower lever turning 11 < / B> and the lever 15 occupy at the position shown in fig. 4.
It will be noted that in this position the pads 14 and 17 are in contact, this contact having the effect of bringing the end of the lever II carrying the pad 13 closer together, of the free end of the lever 15, with compression of the spring 18. The circuit of the lamp 23 is therefore open.
With the oven on and under the effect of the temperature rise in it, the thermos tat sheath 1 extends which has the effect of moving 10 away from the frame. the support or shoulder 20 supporting the rod 19, so that the latter is lowered while at the same time lowering the fulcrum of the lever 15 on this rod. It follows that as the temperature rises the lever 15 progressively deviates from the axis 12 thus allowing the lever 11 to swing around this axis under the effect of relaxation of the spring 18, this swing which keeps the pads 14 and <in contact B> 17, continuing until the moment when the pin 13 reaches the cam 9,
thus closing the lighting circuit of the lamp 23. As with the high temperatures of the oven, there is a great extension of the expansion sheath 1, it goes without saying that the variation in the length of the radii of the cam 9 must be proportional to the elongation of this sheath 1. In these conditions and to allow the necessary travel of the levers 11 and 15 to ensure the required contacts, the cam 9 will have small radii for the temperatures high, the deflections of the levers being, in this case, important, while the larger radii will correspond to the lower temperatures.
Closing of circuit 21 with lighting of the lamp 23 therefore only occurs when the temperature corresponding to a determined graduation of button 7 is reached in the oven, this ignition being maintained as long as the graduated knob 7 is itself maintained in the position which was initially given to it and which corresponds to a determined gas flow, regulated by the thermostat.
On the other hand, if we now go from the temperature determined for example by the graduation 5 to a higher temperature corresponding for example to the graduation 10, the radius of the cam 9 getting shorter, the contact between this cam and the stud 13 is interrupted, as shown in fig . 4, in order to recover only when the elongation of the sheath 1, under the effect of the temperature increase in the furnace, will have allowed sufficient additional displacement or lowering downwards, of lever 15, with a corresponding pivoting of lever 11, to bring pin 13 into contact with cam 9. </ B>
Conversely, if we go from graduation or position 10 to position 5 the radius of the cam 9 </ B > becomes larger and, in this case, the stud 13 is lowered with a corresponding raising of the stud 14 which moves away from the stud 17, as shown in fig. 5, hence the interruption of the lamp ignition circuit 23. It is only when the oven has been cooled to the new desired temperature that the raising of the rod 19 under the effect of the contraction of the sheath 1, will have raised at the same time the lever 15, to the point to bring back to again the stud 17 in contact with the stud 14, as shown in fig. 6 with re-lighting of the indicator light 23.
It therefore results from this arrangement of the components, as described and illustrated, that the switching on of the indicator lamp 23 only occurs when the desired temperature in the oven is reached, and this as well going up in the scale of the temperatures as down.
It goes without saying that instead of the pilot light 23 , any other visual or audible indicator could be used.
