Diffuser on a supersonic radial compressor When the flow through the same is carried out at supersonic speed, the diffusers of the usual design with blades cause shock waves, whereby the flow breaks off to such an extent that the efficiency of the diffuser is considerably reduced.
An aim of the present invention is to create a diffuser which works with good efficiency when the speed of the flow flowing through it decreases from supersonic to subsonic speed without pressure waves occurring, and which is particularly suitable for cooperation with a compressor for supersonic speed suitable is.
For this purpose, according to the invention, a diffuser on a supersonic radial compressor with a blade-less part in front of the bladed part, in which the flow leaving the impeller at supersonic speed is slowed down to subsonic speed, characterized in that the leading edge of each guide vane extends across the width of the channel seen from the beginning of the diffuser channel has a differently large distance in order to approximate the course of the leading edge of the speed distribution of the flow leaving the impeller, and that the profile is designed so
that the flow enters smoothly at every point on the leading edge, so that no pressure waves are formed between adjacent blades.
In the accompanying drawings execution examples of the subject invention are shown. Fig. 1 is a fragmentary axial section through a radial compressor and diffuser; since the distribution of the velocities of the flow leaving the compressor is shown in dashed lines. FIG. 2 is a fragmentary section along line 2-2 in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of a modified embodiment from the present invention.
Fig. 4 is a schematic representation of a white direct, modified embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 5, 6 and 7 are slightly modified sections, similar to Fig. 2, and show the spiral path of the individual particles. .
An impeller of a radial compressor is arranged in such a way that it conveys air at supersonic speed into a diffuser, the diffuser blades being arranged at a distance from the impeller, so that a certain diffusion already occurs between the impeller and the diffuser blades. The diffuser blades have edges whose shape is determined by the distribution of the velocities of the flow leaving the impeller.
In particular, one can see from Fig. 1 of the drawing that an impeller 10 has the blades 11, which run next to a fixed casing part 12 and are made of one piece with a rotating casing part 13. The blades 11 are provided with ends 14 from which the air flows off into a diffuser channel 15 which is determined by the walls 16 and 17.
The air flowing through between the blades of the impeller 10 is pressed into the diffuser channel 15 at supersonic speeds. The United distribution of these flow speeds takes the form shown by the dashed line 18 at the rated speed of the compressor. The diffuser vanes 21 fastened between the walls 16 and 17 have inlet edges 22 with an essentially curved cut or recessed shape, which is determined by the distribution of the flow velocities, as shown by the dashed line 18.
The shape of this line 18 shows relatively low speeds on the walls 12 and 13. These lower speeds are caused by a boundary layer flow on the walls. It is assumed that the flow at one point 19 on the center line is supersonic, while at another point 20 on the center line the velocity is reduced to practically sonic speed as a result of the increasing diffusion in the channel 15 between the walls 16 and 17 has been.
If the flow proceeds from the point 20 on the center line and continues to diffuse up to a point 23 on the leading edge of the diffuser vane 21, the flow on the center line is reduced to subsonic speed. Likewise, the other velocities of the flow are sufficiently diffused before the cut profile of the leading edge 22 is reached, so that subsonic velocities also arise here.
Since the speeds on the walls 12 and 13 are lower than in the middle of the flow in the channel 15, the impeller 11 at its periphery 14 and next to the walls 12 and 13 leaving flow has a different direction than the flow, which the The circumference of the impeller leaves in the middle of the flow. From FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing it can be seen that the flow indicated by the arrow A on the walls has a low speed and the impeller can be ver at a small angle to a tangent drawn on the circumference of the same.
The arrows B and C represent the flow, which th against the center of the flow on the circumference of the impeller with increasingly higher Geschwindigkei and leave the impeller with increasingly larger angles.
Each particle of the flow leaving the impeller describes a spiral in the diffuser part. This spiral is flat for the particles on the walls of the diffuser and becomes steeper towards the center, that is to say with increasing exit speed (FIGS. 5 to 7). Each particle hits the stator vane at the point at which the tangent of the spiral of the particles coincides with the tangent to the line of curvature through the center of the stator vane profile. .
As can be seen from FIG. 1 of the drawing, the flow hits the leading edge 22 of the blade 21 at the point 23 at the speed C. The points 23a and 23b are the points corresponding to the flow velocities A and B . With regard to FIGS. 2, 5, 6 and 7, it should be noted that the particles leaving the impeller at a certain point do not necessarily have to hit the guide vanes bearing the reference symbols 23, 23a and 23b; These points 23, 23a and 23b on the stator blades only indicate the location at which particles would hit a stator blade at the speeds indicated by the arrows A, B and C.
It is clear that different construction conditions at the leading edges of the blades can require the most varied of shapes in order to practically correspond to the flow velocities and the angles. This arrangement brings all the advantages of the vaneless diffusion for a flow with supersonic speed and makes use of the diffusion with means of blades of a flow with subsonic velocity in the boundary layer. As a result of the fact that the leading edge profiles of the diffuser blades are cut out into the area in which supersonic speed can no longer occur, pressure waves can be avoided.
Pressure waves S, as they can occur with the bladed diffusers of conventional design, do not exist with the present diffuser.
In the embodiment, as shown schematically in Figure 3 of the drawing, the Ver division of the flow velocities of an impeller 24 ago as the dashed line 25 shows; the flow velocity is not the highest on a center line. Diffuser blades 26 with inclined leading edges 27 can be assigned to such an impeller with asymmetrical distribution of the flow velocities, in such a way that they approximate the distribution of the flow velocities generated by the impeller, taking into account the relatively small width of the distribution.
From Fig. 4 of the drawing it can be seen that an impeller 28 with an associated diffuser is seen ver, the blades 29 of which are completely cut out over their entire length in the middle between the walls of the diffuser channel. The diffuser blades 29 are used to diffuse the flow close to the walls of the flow channel, but to bring about a blade-less diffusion between the same.
These vanes 29 force such a boundary layer flow to flow more in the direction of the flow at a higher velocity which passes through the part of the diffuser vanes 29 cut out in the middle. The boundary layer friction losses on the diffuser walls are thus reduced to a minimum.
This diffuser can be of particular use for the diffusion of a flow at supersonic speed at high Mach numbers.
It will be understood that various embodiments are possible in the present invention.
