Epicyclic gear The present invention relates to an epicyclic gear, in which primary planet gears meshing with a planetary wheel are each coaxial and rigidly connected to a secondary planet pinion of different diameter meshing with a toothed ring gear.
Until now, the practice has been to support each series of primary and secondary planet gears in two bearings mounted in parallel flanges spaced from the planet carrier. As long as the inner segments of the primary planet gears must mesh with the planet gear and the outer segments of the secondary planet gears must mesh with the ring gear, it is not possible,
in the case of such an arrangement connect the two flanges together only by means of columns passing between the groups of satellites. During operation, the planet carrier must transmit a certain torque due to the reactions on the bearings of the satellites located on the input side, and this torque tends to tor d the planet carrier around its axis. It is essential that this torsion is minimal, as long as it breaks the alignment of the axes of the satellites and causes an offset rotation of these,
which leads to excessive wear and other damage. Even if the columns connecting the flanges of the planet carrier are dimensioned so as to be very rigid in order to limit torsion, they subject the flanges to considerable bending stresses which can only be compensated by making these flanges very rigid and heavy. .
The epicyclic gear object of the invention is characterized in that the primary planet gears are mounted in a cantilever manner outside the flanges of a satellite carrier in which bearings are mounted for the planet gears, the flanges being connected together by a tubular part of the planet carrier.
By mounting the primary planet gears in this way, they can mesh with the planet wheel without it being necessary to provide any holes or gears in the planet carrier between the flanges, so that these flanges can be connected together by said part. tubular instead of columns, so that the bending stress on the flanges is eliminated. In addition, the tubular part can be relatively short,
as long as the space between the flanges should only accommodate the secondary planet gears instead of having to house the primary and secondary planet gears as was the case until now. The secondary planet gears are arranged around the outside of the tubular part and can mesh freely with the toothed crown between or beyond the flanges.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the gear which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the gear, and FIG. 2 is an end view of the planetary carrier looking from left to right in FIG. 1. The epicyclic gear shown in the drawing comprises a rigid housing 10 provided with a ball bearing 11 at its right end and a roller bearing 12 at its left end.
These two bearings constitute the support bearings of the gear, the outer race of each bearing being mounted in the housing, while the inner race of each bearing serves as a support for a hollow output shaft 13 constituting at the same time the satellite carrier which extends longitudinally through the map> 10. The power is transmitted through the left end of the output shaft 13 in one piece with the satellite carrier by means of ribs 14.
An input shaft 15 enters the interior of the output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier at the right end of the housing 10. The left end of the input shaft 15 is supported by a ball bearing 16, the outer race of which is mounted inside the output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier.
To the left of the bearing 11, the output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet gear carrier has three openings 17 made in its wall, each of which admits a segment of a primary planet gear 18,
which meshes with the teeth of a planetary gear wheel 19 which is connected to the input shaft 15 by a spline connection 20 and which is further supported by a roller bearing 21 mounted inside the shaft. hollow output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier. The output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier is provided with a main flange 22 disposed approximately in the same plane as the bearing 21.
This flange has three lobes 23, each seen from a circular bore 24. In each of these bores 24 is mounted the outer race of a roller bearing 25, each of these bearings constituting the main bearing for a group of pinions. primary and secondary coaxial satellites, the primary planet gears 18 of each group having been mentioned above.
The output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier is also provided with a secondary flange 26 which also has three lobes 27. Each of these lobes has a circular bore 28, the random ones 28 being coaxial with the bores 24. In each bore 28 is mounted the outer race of a smaller roller bearing 29, the bearings 29 supporting the left ends of said groups of primary and secondary planet gears.
The part 30 of the output shaft 13 in one piece with the planet carrier between the flanges 22 and 26 has a robust tubular shape. Each of said groups of planet gears is composed of a primary planet gear 18 of large diameter which meshes with the planet gear 19 as described above, and of a smaller planet gear 31 coaxial with the primary planet gear.
The primary planet gear> 18 is cantilevered, that is to say it is disposed to the right of the main bearing 25 of the group of planet gears, while the secondary planet gear 31 is disposed between the two bearings 25 and 29 from the planet gear group. The planet gears 31 are arranged around said tubular part of the planet carrier.
The three secondary planet gears 31 mesh with a ring gear 32 mounted in the casing 10. Although the ring gear 32 can "be fixed to the casing 10, in the present case it is part of a known type torque meter which indicates the torque transmitted by the gear and it is capable of effecting a slight circumferential movement with respect to the housing 10.
A sealing device 33 preventing oil leaks is arranged around the output shaft 13 integrally with the planet carrier between the secondary flange 26 and the bearing 12, and another sealing device 34 preventing oil leakage is located to the left of the bearing 12. Other conventional sealing devices preventing oil leaks, bearing retainers and the like are located where necessary, their locations, their shapes and their functions being well known to those skilled in the art.
