<I>Exemple 1</I> Mélange utilisable comme base de produit dés odorisant.

Mixture which can be used as a cosmetic base and method of manufacturing this mixture The subject of the present invention is a mixture which can be used as a cosmetic base, that is to say a product capable of constituting the predominant part, from the mass point of view, of a cosmetic; various active products, such as dyes, perfumes, hormones, vitamins, etc., can be incorporated into this base to constitute a specific cosmetic.
It also relates to a process for the manufacture of this mixture.
The mixture according to the invention comprises two distinct substances: an emulsifier and a poly alcohol at least partially esterified with a fatty acid of high molecular weight and preferably its turé, the whole being, where appropriate, at most neutralized by a certain proportion of soda lye.
As the emulsifier, use is preferably made of an ester of a fatty acid of high molecular weight and of an alcohol of equally high molecular weight and, preferably, of stearic, oleic or sesquicantine esters. -oleics of anhydrides derived from sorbitol.
The fatty acid esterifying the polyalcohol is preferably constituted by stearic acid but it is also possible to use fatty acids of similar molecular weight, in particular fatty acids having a large number of carbon atoms between C12 and C2o.
The polyalcohol can be a dialcohol such as, in particular, ethylene glycol, butylene glycols, propylene glycol, trimethylene glycol, tetramethylene glycol, or even a tri-alcohol such as glycerol. The preparation of the mixture is advantageously carried out as follows: the emulsifier, the fatty acid and the polyalcohol are mixed and the mixture thus obtained is preferably heated to a temperature in the region of 950 C.
The mixture is usually kept at the same temperature for the time required for esterification, i.e., about 15 to 45 minutes. A solution obtained by adding sodium hydroxide solution to a certain pro portion of water, preferably one part of sodium hydroxide solution to six parts of water, is then heated and this solution is brought to approximately 95 ° C. It is then mixed with the molten product prepared previously.
The characteristics of this mixture are closely related to the ratio observed between the quantity of sodium hydroxide and the quality of stearic acid. Thus, if one uses a proportion of sodium hydroxide solution at 360Bé less than 50% of the proportion of stearic acid and of the emulsifier, the mixture obtained becomes opaque.
If this proportion is exceeded, the mixture in question may become causative and therefore irritant to the skin.
It is also possible to start from a mixture of the pure ester and the pure sodium salt of the same acid taken in the proportion of 40 to 60% of one relative to the mixture.
In this case, a few drops of 360Bé sodium hydroxide solution are preferably added.
To obtain a cosmetic from the mixture according to the invention, the same polyalcohol is preferably used as that which was used to constitute said mixture and the mixture is melted in this polyalcohol. After cooling the assembly to around 50 to 600 C, even below this temperature if the cosmetic product contains additions of vitamins or other products sensitive to heat, said active products and, optionally, the perfume and dyes. The operations of mixing, of casting in a mold to form sticks or in pots if it is a question of ereme, are carried out in the usual manner.
The following examples illustrate the invention. <I> Example 1 </I> Mixture which can be used as a base for a deodorizing product.
First of all a mixture No 1 consisting of

The ingredients in question are simply melted together and brought to a temperature of about 95o C for about fifteen minutes.
On the other hand, a solution No. 2 is prepared, consisting of
EMI0002.0011
<SEP> distilled water <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP> 150 <SEP> g
<tb> Detergent <SEP> from <SEP> soda <SEP> to <SEP> 360Bé <SEP>. <SEP>. <SEP> 25 <SEP> g The solution NI, 2 is heated to 951) C and introduced into mixture No. 1, the whole being maintained at 950 ° C. for about twenty minutes.
From the mixture which has just been described, the following cosmetic can be prepared. 295 g of this base are melted in 420 g of propylene glycol. The mixture is cooled to about 500 ° C. and then 0.35 g of the branded product <G. 11, the perfume and the coloring agent are added and the whole is mixed thoroughly and then poured into sticks.
By observing the proportions indicated above, a translucent product is obtained which is not caustic for the epidermis and is sufficiently hard to be used in the form of sticks which is preferably given to it.
The proprietor's experiments have shown that if, for the quantity of propylene glycol indicated for the constitution of the cosmetic product, less than 200 g of the base were introduced, the product obtained would be too soft to be packaged in the form of sticks. On the other hand, if the base proportion is greater than 350 g, the product is too hard for normal use in the form of sticks.
Likewise, it has been experimentally observed that if the proportion of sodium hydroxide solution relative to that of stearic acid was reduced, a product was obtained which was less transparent the lower the proportion of sodium hydroxide and that if the if the proportion indicated was exceeded, the product could become caustic.
