Le talon suivant l'invention est caractérisé par un tube métallique élastique triangulaire retenu dans un trou rond formé dans le corps plein du talon et délimitant des espaces entre les parois dudit trou et les côtés plats dudit tube ;
Heel provided with a removable wear piece The present invention relates to a heel, for example a high heel for ladies' shoes, provided with a removable wear piece, and therefore replaceable.
Known removable wearing parts, generally fixed with nails, have the drawback of being sometimes torn off, when the heel gets stuck in a grid, as one finds in the streets, or even when it sticks to the asphalt softened by heat.
The present invention aims to overcome this drawback.
The heel according to the invention is characterized by a triangular elastic metal tube retained in a round hole formed in the solid body of the heel and delimiting spaces between the walls of said hole and the flat sides of said tube;
the wear part having a base and a triangular rod in one piece closely fitting into said triangular tube, this rod having on one of its planar surfaces a longitudinal wedge-shaped rib converging from the base of the wear part towards the end of the rod, so that this rib comes into contact with a wall of the elastic tube and deforms it when the rod is inserted into the tube, thus firmly retaining the wearing part in position.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the heel which is the subject of the invention. In this drawing, FIG. 1 is an elevational view thereof in partial section.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the tube having a triangular cross section. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the wearing part made in one piece with its rod.
Fig. 4 is a schematic sectional view of the heel with the tube in place immediately before insertion or immediately after removal of the shank from the wearing part.
Fig. 5 is a section taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4, and fig. 6 is a section taken along line 6-6 of FIG. 1.
The heel 10 shown in FIG. 1 is a heel which can be made of wood, metal, a plastic or a combination of two or more of these materials. It has the ordinary shape of a lady's heel, having a height of 50 to 75 mm depending on the style and model of the shoe. The surface 11 of the heel seat has a concave curvature so as to fit over the heel seat of the sole.
This heel is pierced with a round hole 13 from the surface 12 intended to receive a wearing part 15 and as can be seen this hole extends in the direction of the seat 11 over approximately two-thirds of the height. of the heel. A triangular metal tube 14 having relatively sharp angles is tightly fitted over the entire depth of the hole 13. The cross section of this tube is slightly larger than the diameter of the hole 13, and its introduction requires the application of pressure. sufficient to allow this tube to draw well-defined lines on the inside wall of the hole.
The tube 14 is preferably formed of a spring metal, since it must have some elasticity to allow proper operation. This tube 14 serves both as a reinforcing element for the heel 10 and as a housing for the rod 16 of the wearing part 15.
The wearing part 15 is seen in perspective in FIG. 3. It can be molded from plastic, rubber or other suitable material. Its shape is such that its sides are strictly level with the walls of the heel when it is attached to the latter. The bearing surface of the wear part may be knurled or otherwise ridged to provide grip on the ground.
The wearing part has a shank 16 and a rib 17 formed integrally with it. The length of the upper can be between 9.5 and 25 mm depending on the heel model, and its cross section is triangular. The dimensions of the rod are very slightly smaller than those of the tube 14, so that the top of this rod can easily be forced into the tube, but there is no excessive play.
A wedge-shaped rib 17 is formed on the front wall of the rod 16. This rib starts from a point below the end of the rod and extends to the base thereof and to the inner face of the wearing part 15, so to form a narrow corner.
The wedge-shaped side rib 17 serves to deform or expand the front wall of the tube 14 when the rod is fully introduced therein by moderate pressure exerted on the wearing part. The wall of the tube is allowed to deform or to expand elastically in the space existing between the walls of the round hole 13 and of the triangular tube 14. As this tube is made of an elastic material, it cooperates with the shaped rib. corner to firmly and tightly hold the wear part 15 in position.
The walls of the rod are in frictional contact with the corresponding walls of the tube. The heel wearing part is removed by grasping its base and exerting fairly moderate traction on it. Once the wear part is removed, the tube which is of elastic material returns to its contracted shape and is ready to receive a new wearing part.
The triangular shape of the tube and rod prevents the wear part from rotating and helps to hold it in position.
It can be seen that the triangular tube is not only intended to receive and retain the wearing part, but that it also reinforces the heel, which is normally quite fragile.
