Method for producing a pedal for bicycles and motorcycles The patent relates to a method for producing a pedal for bicycles and motorcycles, the bearing sleeve of which is provided with two transverse webs, on wel chen the two support strips for the rubber blocks or tread strips are attached.
In the known method for producing pedals of this type, the two transverse webs are punched out of a sheet metal strip. Since the sheet metal strip, due to the broadened shape of the cross webs in the middle, cannot be fully utilized, this production method requires a considerable waste of material.
This disadvantage is eliminated according to the invention in that the transverse webs are each made from a blank of sheet metal, strip or profile material provided with an elongated hole, which is brought into the final shape for receiving the bearing sleeve by widening the elongated hole. So that this type of production can also be used for thin-walled cuts, it is advisable to give the blank a U-shaped cross-section. Due to this design of the blank, the edge of the same cannot tear when the elongated hole is widened and the widening that occurs with it.
In addition, the rigidity of the crossbars is significantly increased by the U-shaped cross-section.
Another advantage of the inventive design of the crossbars is that one of the two crossbars, preferably the outer one, can be made from a single piece with the support strips for the rubber blocks or the step, so that the relevant crossbar and the support can be made Form a coherent whole for the rubber blocks or the step strips. With this training from the crossbar, the assembly of the pedal is simplified because the number of parts is reduced and two riveting points are saved. Furthermore, the strength of the pedal frame is increased by the one-piece training of the crossbar and the support strips.
In the drawing, several pedals produced by the method according to the invention are shown as an example, namely show: Fig. 1 a block pedal, Fig. 2, 3 and 4 the production method of the two crossbars, Fig. 5 a block pedal in which the front cross web and the two support strips for the rubber blocks form a coherent whole, and Fig. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 the production method of a cross web formed according to Fig.5.
The front crossbar 1 (Fig. 1) and the rear crossbar 2 are attached in a known manner to the end sides of the bearing sleeve 3, which in turn is mounted on the pedal axis 4. At the two ends of the transverse webs 1 and 2, the support strips 5 and 6 are attached, which wear the rubber blocks 7 to put the foot on. So that the rubber blocks 7 can be replaced if necessary, the support strips 5 and 6 are releasably attached to the rear crosspiece 2 by means of a wedge 8.
The front and rear transverse webs 1 and 2, as shown in FIG. 2, are made from blank 9 made of a strip-like sheet metal. According to FIG. 3, this sheet metal blank 9 is provided with an elongated hole 10. Wei terhin the longitudinal edges are angled to one side, whereby the sheet metal blank 9 is given a U-shaped cross section. Then the elongated hole 10 is widened with the help of a sharpened mandrel and brought ge into the circular shape according to FIG.
Due to the angled longitudinal edges, when widening the elongated hole 10 and the widening associated therewith, tearing of the Blechzu section is prevented at the widened point. In the block pedal shown in Fig. 5 in the support strips 11 and 12 with the front cross web 13 are made from a single sheet metal blank and therefore form a coherent whole.
The production of the transverse web 13 and .the support strips 11 and 12 is also made according to FIG. 6 from a strip-like sheet metal blank 15. This sheet metal blank 15 is, as illustrated in Figure 7, provided in its center with an elongated hole 10, while its rend Long edges are angled towards one side. This gives the sheet metal blank 15 a U-shaped cross section.
The elongated hole 10 is now widened with the help of a pointed mandrel and brought ge into the circular shape according to FIG. The two support strips 11 and 12 are then bent backwards, creating a bracket-like pedal frame shown in FIGS. 9 and 10.
The front transverse web 15 produced in this way is pressed onto the bearing sleeve 3 after the two rubber blocks 7 and the support strips 11 and 12 have been fitted. The ends of the support strips 11 and 12 engage in slots which are provided in the rear transverse web 14 and are there releasably connected to the transverse web 14 in a known manner, for example by means of wedges 8.
The invention is in no way intended to be restricted to block pedals, but can also be used by analogy with all other pedal designs. Likewise, instead of a strip-like sheet metal blank, a section made of strip or profile material can easily be used.
