Card grinding machine The present invention relates to a card grinding machine comprising a grinding wheel and a motor for grinding the carding cylinders and resharpening the tips of the teeth of the linings.
The grinding machines currently in use have various drawbacks resulting from their design and in particular the fact that they give rise to numerous and frequent vibrations, that the speed of the grinding wheel cannot be increased beyond approximately 700 revolutions, that no dust evacuation device can be provided and that -during grinding the rolls take a concavity in the medium.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and is characterized in that it comprises a fixed bench intended to be mounted on the frame of a carding machine, a sliding bench for a cart which can move longitudinally. on said bench and supporting a motor assembly comprising, on the one hand, a motor and, on the other hand, a grinding wheel actuated by this motor, this assembly being mounted on a pivoting support by means of which it can be pivoted around an axis parallel to the axis of the grinding wheel in a desired angular position, grinding machine characterized, moreover, in that it comprises independent correction means serving to adjust the parallelism between the movable bed and the axis of the cylinder card.
An embodiment of the grinding machine which is the subject of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Figs. 1, 2, 3 are respectively elevation, plan and side views of the grinding machine.
Fig. 4 is a detail view. Figures 5 and 6 are side and plan views of the grinding wheel unit. Figs. 7, 8 and 9 relate to the correction control by micrometric screw.
The machine shown comprises a fixed bench 1 and a sliding bench 2 on which can move longitudinally a carriage 3 carrying a motor 4 whose shaft controls a grinding wheel 5.
Around the grinding wheel 5 is arranged a cover 6 to which is connected a dust vacuum cleaner 7 provided with a dust bag 8.
The carriage 3 has on its underside a dovetail-shaped groove through which it engages on the bench 2.
The translation of the carriage is controlled by a screw shaft 9 housed in a groove 10 of the sliding bench and driven by an electric motor 11 whose shaft carries a pulley 12 on which a belt 13 passes, driving a pulley 14 wedged on the 'tree 9.
The motor 11 rests on a support plate 15 which rests on the end of the sliding bench.
The grinding wheel is brought together using a control comprising a single shaft 16 controlled by hand by a flywheel 17 and carrying worm gears whose wheels 18 are engaged with worm screws 19 and cause the slide bench to advance 2.
Wheels and worms 18, 19 are mounted at the ends of the fixed bed 1 at locations where the bed 2 comprises lugs 20 provided with grooves engaging in guides 24 carried by the fixed frame 1. Each worm 19 is wedged on a threaded shaft 32 supported by a support 23 fixed to the frame 1.
At one end of each shaft 32 is arranged a nozzle 36 which carries outwardly a micrometric thread on which are engaged two actuation buttons 34-35 located on either side of the support 23.
Nuts 33 hold the threaded shafts 32 in place with respect to the support 23.
The connection with the frame 2 is made by the intermediary of a nut 37 which carries wings 38 traversed by screws 39.
To eliminate any play on the threaded shafts 32 and obtain a regular displacement, that is to say parallel to the axis of the cylinder to be ground, an additional nut 40 also has wings 41 traversed by the screws 39.
The carriage 3 comprises a fixed base plate 25 provided with hinges 26 around which can pivot bars 27 which constitute the supports of the motor-grinding wheel assembly.
This assembly can be oriented in adjustable positions and be wedged by spacers 28 which can pivot on the fixed base 25 and be held by pins entering one of the holes 30.
Before starting a grinding, the grinding wheel is presented against the cylinder to be grinded by rotating the bars 27 around the hinges 26 and by wedging them in the necessary position by means of the spacers 28.
The grinding wheel is brought together as explained by means of the handwheel 17 and the single micrometric screw control (actuation buttons 34 - 35).
During work, the motor-grinding wheel assembly moves by means of the carriage along the bed 2; the change of direction of movement at each end of travel is effected by electrical contact by means of stops 31.
The dust is sucked up by the grinding wheel motor, the latter driving the dust into the dust bag 8.
During grinding, the grinding machine described is placed on the frame of the card.
The edge A of the frame 2 (fig. 7) is placed at an equal distance from each end of the cylinder to be ground; this is done by measuring or using gauges.
After tightening the bed of the grinding machine on the frame of the carding machine, the parallelism is obtained by the nuts 34 and 35. This additional adjustment is made as follows: if it involves removing the edge A on the left side of the cylinder to be ground, the nut 34 is loosened and the nut 35 is tightened very slightly.
By this movement, due to the fact that the threaded shafts 32 are integral with the bed 2, the edge A is removed although the frame 1 remains in place.
Of course, these are very minimal trips. The machine described has the advantage of being able to rectify all the organs of the card and to sharpen the linings, whereas previously two types of machine were required: a first to rectify the cylinders of the card (drums, combers, etc.), and a second for sharpening the actual linings. The wheel can reach considerably higher speeds and what is essential, those generally recommended for working with cast iron and steel.
It should be added that the recommended arrangement makes it possible to eliminate the bearings which in known machines are located outside the lateral faces of the frame and consequently to greatly reduce the size of the machine.
