Fig. 1-5 zeigen verschieden ausgebildete, kapa- zitiv abtastbare Skalen.
Scannable scale with a device for scanning it Recently, the task of reading scales, circle divisions, etc. from a distance or transferring the measured values to distant locations has become increasingly important. So z. B. in large machines to locate the slide and tools attached scales from the operator stand can not be read in the usual way. If you want to take the reading elsewhere, the measured values must be transferred there in some way. This can e.g. B. happen by photoelectric means.
The effort required in this method is relatively large, and with certain Einrichtun conditions, the heat generated by the light source required is very disadvantageous.
The present invention aims to eliminate the disadvantages and relates to a scannable scale with a device for scanning it. The invention consists essentially in the fact that the scale has capacitively scannable characters opposite which a counter electrode is arranged, and that means are present to measure the change in capacitance caused when the scale moves relative to the counter electrode.
In the following, some embodiments of the subject of the invention are explained with reference to the accompanying drawings.
1-5 show differently designed, capacitively scannable scales.
Fig. 6 shows a scale and a counter-electrode used to scan it from.
7 shows another form of a capacitively scannable scale.
FIG. 8 illustrates a scale and a comb-shaped counter-electrode, and FIG. 9 shows another configuration of a comb-shaped counter-electrode.
The capacitively scannable scale shown in FIG. 1 consists of an insulating base - A and of characters T applied to it, which form scale graduation lines and are made of electrically conductive or semiconductive material. The characters T are connected to one another in an electrically conductive manner by lead wires F. However, they could also be connected to one another only capacitively or by semiconducting connections.
Another training option is to represent the characters of the scale according to FIG. 2 as a recess V or according to FIG. 3 as a conductive or semi-conductive elevations K on a conductor or semi-conductor H. Finally, the capacitively scannable scale can be generated by attaching B characters D , which are made of mate, to conductive or semiconductors of the base according to FIGS. 4 and 5 Materials with a high dielectric constant exist.
Opposite these capacitively scannable scales M, according to FIG. 6, a counter-electrode E is attached at the smallest possible distance.
The conductive or semiconductive parts or characters of the capacitively scannable scale together with the counter electrode form a capacitor. If the capacitively scannable scale and the counter electrode are moved relative to one another, then the changes in capacitance are caused.
In particular, the capacitance is greatest when the counter-electrode is exactly opposite one character T, K or D and thus the distance between the counter-electrode and the character is smallest, if the character sequence is formed by characters made of conductive material on an insulating surface or by characters made of high dielectric constant material on conductive material or by characters that are given by the increases that reduce the distance between the counter electrode and the capacitively palpable division. On the other hand, the capacity is a minimum when the counter electrode is exactly opposite the character V and the scale consists of characters
which are given by the distance from the counter electrode increasing depressions in the carrier H of the scale. So if appropriate, per se known means are provided to measure these capacities, the location of the characters on the scale can be determined by determining the locations of the maximum and minimum capacities. The course of the capacitance, which results when the counter electrode moves from one character to the other, depends in a decisive way on the shape of the characters.
If the characters are given a suitable shape, it is easy to achieve that - assuming a constant distance between the scale and the counter electrode - the capacitance clearly depends on the relative position of the counter electrode in relation to the center of gravity of the characters and at all points for the Measurement receives a sufficiently large value. This is e.g. B. the case when, according to Fig. 7, the conductive, applied to conductive pad U characters P are triangular outlines that mutually touch each other.
One can then - if the others are kept sufficiently constant, the measured values determine the factors - each point between the character centers of gravity can be measured with regard to the local position. The same effect can be achieved for any character shape by appropriate formation of the counter electrode.
It is usually advantageous to adapt the shape of the counter electrode to the shape of the characters. If the characters have in particular the shape of partial lines, the counter electrode will also be given an essentially rectangular or elongated shape and will be arranged in such a way that two opposite rectangular sides of the counter electrode run parallel to the partial lines, as shown in FIG Case is.
The counter electrode can also be designed as a comb according to FIG. 3, the prongs Z of which run parallel to the characters K to be scanned and are connected to one another in a conductive or semiconducting manner by the web V. By appropriately designing the comb, the next subdivision level of the character string to be read can be achieved in this way. Is z.
If, for example, the distance from character K to character K is 1 mm and the teeth have a distance of 1/10 mm from each other, then with such a comb electrode in conjunction with a millimeter division the same display is obtained as with an ordinary one , one-piece counter electrode in conjunction with a tenth of a millimeter division.
The conductive and semiconductive characters T according to FIG. 1 and the raised characters K according to FIG. 3 as well as the characters D according to FIG. 5 consisting of materials of high dielectric constant can be produced in a vacuum by vapor deposition of appropriate materia on the substrate. Scales according to FIG. 2 can also be produced by vapor deposition in a vacuum, in that the webs S lying between the depressions V are produced by vapor deposition of conductive or semiconducting materials.
The counter electrodes, even if they are formed as a comb, can be generated by vapor deposition in the vacuum. This can e.g. B. by the fact that, according to FIG. 9, a non-conductive carrier plate Q, which consists, for example, of glass, is vaporized in the form of the desired counter electrode R with conductive or semiconductive material. In addition to the characters, the conductive or semiconducting connections between these characters can also be created by vapor deposition in a vacuum.
