Arrangement for temperature control or temperature limitation, in particular for the protection of electric hotplates against excess temperature The present invention relates to an arrangement for temperature control or temperature limitation, in particular for the protection of electric hotplates against excess temperature, which arrangement has a movably arranged permanent magnet and a cooperating with it a temperature-sensitive armature made of ferromagnetic material contains a part to be monitored in terms of temperature.
Known constructions of this type are based in their mode of action on the length or volume expansion of solid bodies, liquids or gases. The known devices usually require great precision in manufacture and precise adjustment to the desired control temperature. Usually they are also sensitive to mechanical influences and have a tendency to age, so that the control temperature changes unintentionally.
The invention has the purpose of remedying these deficiencies and is based on the knowledge that ferromagnetic materials lose their magnetic permeability essentially at a temperature characteristic of the material, the so-called Curie point. Using this knowledge, the invention is characterized in that the armature consists of a material whose Curie point is within the range of the desired standard or
Switch-off temperature is so that when this temperature range is reached, the armature changes its magnetic permeability, whereby the permanent magnet moves relative to the armature and thereby controls means for influencing the heat supply. A construction based on this can be kept mechanically very strong and simple. It does not require any adjustment and does not change as a result of aging, since the control temperature is determined by a defined material property, namely by the change in permeability of the material of the anchor when the Curie point is reached.
Structurally, the arrangement according to the invention can be designed expediently such that the armature is attached to the underside of the hotplate and thermally connected to it, while the permanent magnet is attached to a lever arm or to a spring attached to it it is appropriate that he actuates a contact element when he moves when leaving the armature, the power supply z. B. regulates or interrupts a hotplate.
In addition, the magnet can expediently be attached in such a way that it moves downwards along an essentially vertical path when it moves when leaving the armature. This ensures that the magnet is actuated in the direction away from the armature by gravity.
The construction can either be carried out as a Tempe raturbegrenzer, the z. B. only protects a hotplate against overheating, or as a temperature controller that keeps the plate at a constant temperature. In the former case, the current is interrupted by a contact device that can be switched on again by hand. In the latter case, the current is interrupted at a certain temperature and switched on again when the temperature drops.
This is made possible by the fact that the movement of the magnet when it leaves the armature and thus the maximum size of the air gap is limited to such a value that the magnetic tensile force becomes greater than gravity again when the temperature drops and the permeability of the armature recurs, which causes the Armature is attracted again by the magnet. The temperature-sensitive anchor be preferably made of nickel or an alloy containing nickel or chromium, in which case a composition of the alloy corresponding to the desired control temperature is selected.
The drawing shows an example from an embodiment of a hotplate with an arrangement for temperature control according to the invention, wherein Fig. 1 is a section through the hotplate with the interrupter of the controller in the closed position and Fig. 2 shows the same controller with interrupter in the open position. In the drawing be 1 draws the electric hotplate and 2 a heating resistor arranged in this. An anchor 3 is mechanically connected to the hotplate 1 in such a way that it is in direct thermal contact with it.
A permanent magnet 6, which cooperates with the armature 3, is attached to an arm 4 which is rotatably mounted about an axis 5 and on which one contact of a breaker 7 is also arranged. The movement of the rotatably mounted arm 4 is limited by a stop 8.
When the hotplate 1 and thus the armature 3 has reached a certain critical temperature, the magnetic properties of the armature change, so that the magnetic tensile force is reduced. The lever arm 4 with the magnet 6 falls down here at the stop 8, the contacts of the interrupter 7 being separated and the current through the heating resistor 2 being interrupted. Once the hotplate has cooled down enough that the armature 3 regains its magnetic permeability, the magnet attracts again and the contacts of the interrupter 7 close the circuit for the heating resistor again.
