....... 15 g Alcool cétylique sulfon6 ........ 5 g H20.................. q. s.p.
Permanent hair waving process using creams To obtain permanent hair waving by the so-called permanent cold and processes e lukewarm permanent , it is necessary to use two products : - a curling product intended for </ B > soften and to reduce the keratin in order to allow the hair to take the shape that results from their winding on the curler ; - a fixing product intended to restore to the keratin of the hair to its initial structure so that the hair retains the shape given to it.
We have already proposed, to achieve the cold perm of the hair, the successive use : - either d 'a curling cream, then a liquid for fixing ; - or a curling liquid, then a fixing cream.
These attempts to use a cream and a liquid have, in either case, not achieved great commercial success because the technique of cold perms did not allow use them under optimum conditions.
We know that to achieve a cold perm, we operate in two stages : - First, the hair is impregnated with a product curling and shaping by winding them in a very flexible way on curlers.
- Secondly, when the desired curl is achieved, the hair is impregnated with a fixing product and, afterwards. pause for a few minutes, the hair, returned to their initial hardness, are unrolled and after a last quick application of fixing product on the unrolled hair to ensure a complete fixation, on. performs a rinse.
It will be understood why the aforementioned methods using a curling cream and a fixing liquid, or a curling liquid and a fixing cream, have never been able to give complete satisfaction. In fact, in the first process, the hair being rolled up after having been coated with a cream, this cream will spread over the curler and during the fixing operation, the fixing product cannot come into intimate contact with the hair. hair and penetrate inside the inside of the locks.
This is why, when unrolling, only the roots of the hair will be fixed and the tips will not. We will therefore see a very rapid loss of crimp on the ends. The perms will be irregular and loose.
In the second process, the fixing product, being in the form of a cream, will only penetrate with great difficulty inside the inside of the locks and, there again, only the roots of the hair will be fixed and, when unrolling, there will be a very noticeable drop in crimp on the tips.
Hitherto, the use, to obtain permanent waviness of the hair, of two products intended to co-operate, one in liquid form, the other in cream form, has proved difficult. and, with a fortiori, it has been, until now, impossible to achieve a satisfactory permanent wave of the hair, by using successively two creams : a curling cream and a fixing or neutralizing cream.
It is however highly desirable to be able to carry out the work of perming the hair with products in the form of creams, since these products present, in addition to appreciable ease of application for the person treated and for the operator, the possibility of incorporating large quantities of treatment products favorable to the maintenance of the hair (cholesterin, lecithin, for example).
The present invention is based on this remark that it is possible to use successively two respectively curling and neutralizing creams if one carries out, initially, and by heating if necessary, the fixing, partial of the hair at the same time. that its curling, partial fixation essential to allow the unwinding of the hair and the application in good conditions on the unwound hair of the neutralizing cream, thus ensuring, in a second step and, if necessary, to with the aid of heating, the uniform and definitive fixing of the crimp ; this eliminates the drawbacks inherent to the use of the compositions under in the form of creams, while taking advantage of the advantages they provide to achieve permanent waviness of the hair.
The subject of the invention is a process for permanent waving of the hair by means of two creams, characterized by the following operations : The hair is impregnated with a curling cream suitable for also cause partial fixation of the keratin of the hair ; the hair is wound, without special precautions, on a curler ; the hair is left rolled for a period of time and at a sufficient temperature to obtain the aforementioned curling and partial fixation ; the curlers are unrolled after possible prior rinsing of the hair, a fixing cream is applied to the unrolled hair < B>; we then proceed to washing and to the pH setting.
The process according to the invention can be implemented according to several variants : lukewarm permanent ; self-neutralizing permanent, permanent to base of a soluble mercaptan, highly oxidizable ; permanent with mercaptan base accompanied by a swelling limiter.
Below are some examples of implementation of the process according to the invention.
Lukewarm perm We know that lukewarm perms, thanks to the heat brought to the locks by a heating device (pliers - drivers - heated tweezers, etc.) allow rapid fixation of the hair in rolls and the unwinding of the latter at the end of the shaping time on the curler without observing a loss of curls considerable.
We can therefore achieve without inconvenience a lukewarm perm system using two creams : a curling cream allowing partial fixation, thanks to momentary heating, strands of hair rolled up and a fixing cream. The curling cream is made up with thioglycolic acid base, thio-derivatives or other products that can be used for curling the hair and based on synthetic or natural oxyethylene wax or other supports allowing the incorporation of treating and revitalizing products, such as :
products with active cations, castor oil, lanolin, cholesterin, lecithin and other products known for their beneficial action on the hair.
Examples of curling cream for lukewarm perm : a) Ammonia thioglycolate .... 3.5 g NAOH ........ .. ........... 0.5 g Triethanolamine .............. 6 g Ammonia 201, Bé .......... 3 g Lanolin .................... </ B > 2 g Lauryl monoethanolamide .... 15 g Oxyethylenated stearic alcohol ---- 7 g H20 < B> .................. q. s. p. 100 g b) Ammonium sulphite ........
10 g Triethanolamine .............. 5 g Lauryl monoethanelamide .... 15 g Cemulsel B (branded product) 5 g Lecithin Soy ................ 2 g F11! 0 .... ....... </ B > # # . # . . q. s. p. 100 g The fixing cream is made up to persalts base peroxides, bromates and also to oxyethylenated wax base and other products facilitating disentangling and styling.
Example of fixing cream : Bromate of soda ............ 15 g Cethyl alcohol, oxyethylenated .... 6 g Cholesterin .................. 0.5 g H20 .................. q. s. p.
100 g Permanent self-neutralizing It is known that if we introduce into a cold perm liquid an oxidation catalyst, as described in the Marion Den Best patent to United States No 2540980, such as a manganese salt, the oxygen in the air acquires sufficient binding power to allow elimination of the second stage of the perm to cold, that is to say the fixation.
The process of the invention is carried out using two creams, one curling with sea-captan base accompanied by an oxidation catalyst, the other fixing.
As the complete fixation by the oxygen of the air would be very long, we are satisfied with a partial fixation just necessary to allow, after rinsing, the unwinding of the hair without loss of crimp and we complete the fixation by a fixing cream of known composition.
A As an example of a self-neutralizing curling cream, the following composition is given: Ammonium thioglycelate ...... 7 g Ammonia q. s. p pH = 9.5 9 Manganese sulphate .......... 0.05 g Stearic alcohol ...... ....... 15 g Cetyl alcohol sulfon6 ........ 5 g H20 .................. q. s. p.
100 g Permanent to base mercaptan soluble, very oxidizable We know that if we use in liquids, permanent to cold certain very soluble mercaptans of the mercaptan type comprising a non-polar group soluble in water as described in French patent No 938334 </ B > from the Sales Affiliates 7 January 1946, a simple rinse after the second time of the cold perm will remove enough mercaptan to allow a tightening that is - say a partial fixation of the keratin allowing an unwinding of the hair without prior fixing.
The method of the invention can therefore be carried out using a crimping cream containing very soluble mercaptans comprising a non-polar group and a fixing cream of known type.
Example of curling cream: Thioglycerol .................. 4 g Ammonia q. s. p. pH = 9.5 9 Stearic alcohol .............. 15 g Sulphonated cetyl alcohol .. ...... 5 g H20 .................. q. s. < B> p.
100 g Permanent at basis of mercaptan accompanied of limiter of swelling It is known that if permanent liquids are used comprising an ordinary mercaptan of the thio-glycolic acid type to which has been added a swelling limiter such as natural tannin or hexamethylenetetramine or an active product. the same role as described in the French patent in the name of the Union Française Commerciale et In dustrielle 1004940 of 7 November 1949, one can, after a pause time and abundant rinsing,
de- roll the hair without causing significant loss of the crimp.
By using a crimping cream also containing a mercaptan and a swelling limiter, it is possible to carry out the method of the invention. A as an example of a curling cream, the following composition may be mentioned :
Thioglycolic acid ............ 6 g Ammonia 200 Bé ............ 4 cc Hexamethylenetetramine ........ 1 g Lauric amide ................ 15 g < / B> Oxyethylenated oleic alcohol ...... 6 g H20 .................. q. s . p. 100 g The unwound hair is then fixed after a sufficient de pause time using a fixing cream of of known type.
