Timepiece with an electromagnetically maintained oscillating regulating member The present invention relates to a timepiece with an electromagnetically maintained oscillating regulating member, and comprising a permanent magnet.
In timepieces of the type in which the movement of the regulating member produces by induction, in a sensor winding, a pulse signal controlling the power supply of a motor winding, the balance generally carries an element. moving opposite the sensor winding, the arrangement is such that, when the magnet passes, the flux varies in the sensor winding from a zero value to a maximum to drop back to zero. This variation occurs twice per oscillation of the ba lance. The induced voltage being a function of the derivative of the flux with respect to time, each variation of the latter produces a positive voltage and a negative voltage.
As a result, two pulse signals - due either to positive voltages or to negative voltages - are supplied to the motor winding for each oscillation of the balance. However, from the isochronism point of view, the maintenance of the balance at the rate of two motor impulses by oscillation, one in each direction of its march, is generally not favorable, the conditions of Airy not being than approximately satisfied.
The holder of the present patent has already proposed a means of overcoming this drawback and allowing the production of an oscillating regulator device in electromagnetically maintained at the rate of a single driving pulse per oscillation. This solution is the subject of patent No. 335188.
This patent is supplemented by an additional patent No. 337470 describing an improvement intended to increase the signal obtained on the sensor coil. The aim of the present invention is to improve the timepiece protected by said patents Nos. 335188 and 337470, and this further reinforced the signal induced in the sensor winding. Various motor devices which can be combined with said sensor are further described below.
The timepiece according to the present invention is characterized by a high magnetic permeability die ring, located in the immediate vicinity of said magnet and channeling its magnetic flux from mother to to divide it into partial fluxes of which the number am.
is equal to the number of poles of the magnet, this ring being open in at least one place by a branch of said ring situated astride said opening, by a sensor coil wound around said branch of the ring and by a motor winding intended to maintain the oscillations of the magnet, all in such a way that the sensor winding is passed through, as long as the magnet is not placed opposite the opening of the ring, by a constant magnetic flux whose value is equal to that of a partial flux, this flux changing sign,
stepping through zero, during the passage of a pole of the magnet opposite said opening of the Panel, which induces in the sensor winding a voltage controlling the power supply of the motor winding so that the regulating organ receives a single driving impulse per complete oscillation of the magnet.
The appended drawing, in which only the components necessary for understanding the invention have been shown, illustrates by way of example one embodiment of the subject of the invention and variants. Fig. 8 is a plan view of a detail of a variant.
Fig. 9 is a section thereof, and FIGS. 10 and 11 are plan views of a detail of two variants.
The timepiece shown comprises a balance 1, formed of a magnetic bar and, the shaft 2 of which is pivoted between the plate 3 of the movement on the one hand and the cock 4 on the other. The shaft 2 carries a plate 5 controlling a counting anchor 6 intended to transform the oscillating movements of the balance 1 into a discontinuous rotary movement of a mobile not shown connected to the hands. The regulating balance spring is designated by 7; its inner end is fixed to a ferrule 8.
The plate 3 carries a ring 9 made of a material having a high magnetic permeability, coaxial with the balance 1 and located in its plane of oscillation. This ring is intended to channel the magnetic flux of the bipolar lover 1 and to divide it into two half-fluxes, following the lines of force 10 and 11 indicated in fig. 1.
A sensor winding 12 surrounds a branch 9a of the ring situated astride an opening or slot 13 that the latter presents. A motor winding 14, in the form of a wafer, is applied against the interior face of this ring, in the free space situated between the latter and the space swept by the air. This particular arrangement of the motor winding 14 avoids the coupling between the input and the output of the amplifier described below. The balance is shown in the equilibrium position by solid lines in fig. 1.
The slot 13 has been placed on the ring so as to be located opposite one of the poles of the magnet, in this case the North pole, when the latter occupies this position of equilibrium. The motor bearing 14 is then slightly offset with respect to the other pole. Finally, the ring 9 has a second opening, designated by 15, diametrically opposed to the opening 13.
The motor winding 14 is connected on the one hand to the collector of a PNP transistor 16 and on the other hand to the negative terminal of a current source 17, for example a 1.3 volt battery (fig. 4). . The positive terminal of this current source 17 is itself connected to the emitter of transistor 16. Finally, the sensor winding 12 is connected on the one hand to the base of the transistor and on the other hand to the transmitter of this transis tor.
The operation of this timepiece is as follows When the balance is in its free equilibrium position (fig. 1), the flux (P of the magnet is distributed in equal parts 10 and 11 in the two halves of the No flux crosses the branch branch and the coil 12. This position of the balance corresponds to the zero point of Fig. 5 in which the curve 18 indicates the variation of the flux passing through the winding 12.
As soon as the bar leaves its equilibrium position, one of the partial flows passes through the slot or or opening 15 of the ring which constitutes an additional air gap, considerably reducing it in favor of the other partial flow passing through the winding sensor 12. Experience has shown that a slit 15 even of small width produces a difference between the partial fluxes such that one of them comprises almost all of the flux (1) of the magnet while the 'the other is reduced to almost zero flow.
Let us assume that the magnet moves in the direction of arrow 19 (fig. 1) from its position of free equi, to reach the position of fig. 6, corresponding to the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1.
In this position, the partial flux 11 passing through the winding 12 has a value substantially equal to #), a value which is maintained until the moment when, during the return of the magnet following arrow 20, its North pole returns to sight of the opening 13 of the ring. The flux passing through the coil then decreases again and passes through a zero value when the balance is in its equilibrium position (T / 2 in fig. 5).
The balance then moves along arrow 21, during which movement it passes through the position of FIG. 7, corresponding to the position shown in phantom in fig. 1. The flux 10 passing through the winding 12 then has a negative value substantially equal to - (, which remains constant as long as the North pole of the magnet moves beyond the opening 13. At the end of complete oscillation (point T in fig. 5), and after the balance has finally moved along arrow 22, the flow passing through the coil is canceled again.
This variation of the flux produces, by induction, a voltage in the winding 12, according to the law
EMI0002.0092
represented by curve 23 in FIG. 5. This signal is applied between the base and the emitter of transistor 16. As only the negative voltage de blocks the latter, it can be seen from the diagram of FIG. 5, that the balance receives only one driving pulse per complete oscillation.
In the example shown, the winding 12 being located exactly opposite the equilibrium position of the North pole of the magnet, the driving pulse is symmetrically distributed on either side of the equilibrium position of the magnet. pendulum. In the formula given above,
EMI0003.0002
dt represents the time during which 0 varies, that is to say the duration of the passage of the North pole of the magnet opposite the opening 13 of the ring. This period is very short.
In the solution proposed in patents Nos 335188 and 337470, the duration of dt was longer, dt corresponding to the duration of the passage of the North pole of the magnet opposite the sensor winding located directly on the torus, the latter having neither opening 13, nor branch 9a. In the present embodiment, e, and therefore the signal sent to the amplifier, is significantly improved.
In addition, thanks to the fact that the winding 12 is located on a derivation of the ring, it is possible to lengthen the North arm of the magnet so as to reduce to a minimum the air gap which separates the North pole from the ring, which produces an increase in the useful magnetic flux. It should be noted that the amplitude of the oscillations of the balance must not exceed a limit value such that the North Pole never comes opposite the motor winding 14.
It should be noted that by separating or clamping the ends of the torus limiting the slot 15, or else by mounting the torus slightly eccentric with respect to the magnet, an asymmetry of the magnetic field can be created which breaks the isochronism of the oscillations of the magnet. By this means a directed cause of anisochronism is created which makes it possible to understand, at least partially, the possible defects of isochronism which the regulating device (balance and hairspring) of the clock movement may present. Slot 15 could be omitted.
In the variant of FIGS. 8 and 9, the magnet, designated by 24, is located just above the ring 25, and no longer in its plane, as in the first embodiment. The drive coil 26, in a pancake, is located on the ring, between the latter and the magnet. The North pole of the magnet has a boss 24a extending in the direction of the ring, intended to reduce the air gap. The operation is identical to that of the first embodiment.
The variant of FIG. 10 differs from the first embodiment in that the driving reel, designated by 27, is not in a wafer, but is rolled around the ring 28, on either side of its slot 15. All the strands of this coil located in the air gap are motors while in the first embodiment only the strands 14a of the coil 14 are working.
Finally, the variant of FIG. It constitutes a polarized magnet motor and no longer an electro dynamic motor like the preceding embodiments and variants. In this variant, the drive coil 29 and the sensor winding 30 are both wound on the branch 31a of the ring 31. The sensor and drive coils can be juxtaposed, nested or superimposed on the same part of the magnetic circuit. . It is noted that the two coils are thus strongly coupled.
In addition, the size of the coils no longer depends on the air gaps, since they are both on the bypass of the ring. Finally, in this variant the amplitude of the os cillations is no longer limited by the dimensions of the motor coil, as is the case when the latter is located in the vicinity of the equilibrium position of the South Pole of the motor. magnet, but is limited to a value of 1800 minus the half-width of the slot or opening 13 and minus the half-width of the magnet.
The operation of this variant is as follows. When the transistor is turned on by the negative pulse produced in the sensor winding 30, the motor winding 29 constitutes, with the ring 31, an electromagnet. The slots 13 and 15 must be wide enough so that their magnetic resistance is great and that the ring thus has a South branch and a North branch. The couple lasts as long as the impulse lasts. In the other direction, there is no driving pulse since the control circuit of the transistor receives a pulse of positive direction.
As a variant, the two drive and sensor coils could be arranged one after the other on the branch of the ring, one for example on part 31b of this branch and the other on part 31c .
