Furnace for casting metals in a closed atmosphere The present invention relates to a furnace for casting metals in a closed atmosphere, preferably to a vacuum furnace. Difficulties arise for the structure and design of these ovens if one wishes to go beyond the batch weights that have been customary up to now and the volumes of the vacuum kettles that have hitherto been used.
With such dimen sions, especially if longer blocks are to be cast, because of the large height and the inaccessibility of the equipment from different sides impossible to use the previous arrangements, which consist in that a two-part recipient in its larger Un part Receives furnace devices while the upper part is designed as a hinged lid.
It has already been proposed to arrange the facilities of such a furnace on a horizontal working platform on which a vacuum bell can be placed. Such a bell must therefore be able to be raised and lowered in order to expose the working platform or to close it off from the atmosphere. Raising and lowering the bell jar, however, requires considerable performance and working hours for larger weights. The great height of the work rooms, the arrangement of extensive and bulky crane systems, the difficulty of holding the vacuum cleaner with horizontally lying sealing surfaces, e.g.
B. in a foundry have led to the fact that one went over to use vacuum vessels with horizontally movable lying drums, which are now with their vertical sealing surfaces on a fixed vertical plate that served as a base or end wall, to and away could. This arrangement offers the great advantage that it is possible to attach all of the parts that are important for the implementation of the respective vacuum process to the vertical wall or to pass all of the ducts for electricity, movement, vacuum connections and the like through this wall, all of which When the movable drum is extended, parts of the apparatus are easily accessible.
But this arrangement presents difficulties when long blocks are to be potted. Since the casting molds naturally have to be vertical when casting, one would be forced to use drums with very large diameters with long casting blocks, which, quite apart from the costly construction and the amount of material used, is also unlikely from a high-quality and technical point of view is economical.
However, there is also a second possibility of using a boiler with a horizontal drum, in which the drum lying horizontally is arranged in a fixed position and contains the furnace devices and possibly also carries the pump and power connections, while at least one of the two end faces of the cylindrical vessel is designed as a vertical stand, the lid. With such an arrangement, it is useful to provide horizontal slide rails inside the boiler so that the heavy casting molds can be moved horizontally into and out of the boiler. It is also possible to extend and retract the casting molds from the boiler using a horizontally movable crane.
But even with such an arrangement, difficulties arise for long casting forms because of the large drum diameter required. Namely, the larger the volume of a recipient and especially the larger its inner surfaces, which always give off gas, the more difficult it is to create and maintain a good vacuum; very large pumping capacities and pumping times are then required.
In order to keep the volume of the vacuum vessel to be pumped out as small as possible, and for the sake of saving material, an arrangement can also be made in which only the melting and casting facilities of the furnace are in a cylindrical vacuum vessel with a horizontally lying drum, while the molds , in which the melting material is to be poured, partly or entirely in a vertical approach trim located on the underside of the drum. This has a very beneficial effect, particularly when casting long blocks, because the diameter of the drum can still be kept small by using long connecting pieces.
In order to use the casting molds in the furnace or to take them out of it, a lower cellar can be provided below the connecting piece or the whole furnace can be placed high on consoles, with the casting molds located in the neck connecting piece after the corresponding by means of a lifting and lowering device Flange connections with the drum are loosened, can be lowered down. Another possibility be is to look at an opening on the top of the drum just above the casting mold, through which the casting molds are lifted out of the furnace or lowered into it by means of a crane.
Both arrangements require a large vertical extension of the entire system, which prohibits the erection of such systems in many cases where only limited room heights are available. Another disadvantage is this arrangement. it is that every time the casting molds are removed or inserted, additional flange connections must be loosened or closed.
In order to solve all the above-mentioned difficulties in a furnace for casting long blocks in a closed atmosphere with devices for casting Sehnielzgut and the molten poison-absorbing molds in the interior of a vacuum vessel with horizontal drum, heAndungsgemä.ss is provided, inside this vessel one of externally actuatable lifting device to lower or lower the mold in the enclosed space in a connecting piece of the horizontally lying drum.
They can be lifted out of this approach nozzle in such a way that when casting molds are lifted out of this approach nozzle relatively between the drum and the casting molds can be made without hindrance. This means. That z. B. with a vacuum tank, which consists of a vertical, fixed wall and a horizontally movable drum.
There is an extension piece, this drum can be moved without difficulty when the casting molds are lifted out of the extension piece, and thus the open furnace is freely accessible from all sides after the casting.
The arrangement according to the invention allows the full height of the available work space to be used and to get along with long casting blocks with a low room height, since the vertical space requirement is now determined solely by the height of the casting device and the casting molds in the casting position There is no longer any need for leeway to lower the molds downwards or to lift them out by means of a crane. A vacuum furnace according to the invention therefore offers the advantage that cranes outside and above the vacuum vessel or basements can be avoided.
Due to the formation of the part receiving the casting molds as a connecting piece to the horizontally lying drum, the diameter of the drum and thus the volume to be evakuie-generating is also significantly reduced, which, as stated, in addition to the vacuum-technical advantage, also results in great material and cost savings see brings.
It is described below with reference to Fi gures an embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows the overall arrangement of a furnace according to the invention.
FIG. 2 gives a reduced cross-section along the line A-A of FIG.
Fig. 3 shows a rotatable mold system that allows several blocks to be cast in one operation.
Fig. 4 shows another example of a furnace according to the invention.
In Fig. 1, 1 is a vertical end wall, hereinafter referred to as the bottom, which together with a bell 3, which is designed as a hori zontal drum, forms a vacuum vessel. The boiler drum 3 has an attachment nozzle 13 with removable bottom piece 15. In this approach clip a casting mold 12 is used, in which by means of a funnel 8 melt can be poured well. The device for melting the material can be an electrically heated crucible 35, which is also located in the interior of the boiler, as shown in FIG. But it is also possible to melt the material outside the boiler and to feed the material to be melted via a channel through the wall 1 to the casting mold 12.
At the bottom 1 of the Kes sels a vertical hollow column 16 is attached by struts 17 and 28, which can be raised and lowered along a sliding tube 23. For this purpose, the sliding tube 23 is firmly connected to a pin 24 which can run in two vertical slots 6 and 27 in the wall of the hollow column 16. The lifting and lowering is carried out by means of a chain 26 which runs over a roller 4 and is connected to the pin 24 at 25. 25 represents a small auxiliary pulley around which chain 26 loops. The chain hoist is driven by a motor or a crank (represented by 7.9, 20 and 21).
The rotary movement is guided through the base 1 in a vacuum-tight manner by means of an annular seal 18 and drives a roller 22 which winds the chain 26 up and down. A support ring 11, which carries the casting mold 12 by means of a collar 10, is firmly connected to the sliding tube 23. The funnel 8 is also carried by a support ring 9 of sliding tube 23 and be moved with the casting mold when lifting and lowering.
In the normal position, the mold 12 is lowered into the neck 13 of the drum 3 abge. In this position, the melting material can be cast in the usual manner. When the casting is finished and the mold and its contents are to be removed from the kettle, it is raised so far that a subsequent horizontal movement of the drum 3 is no longer hindered. The drum 3 is carried by rollers 29 which run on the rails 30. After pulling the drum 3 from the bottom 1, the detachable retaining ring at 7 is 9 and thus. Funnel 8 removed, and the mold can either be lifted by hand or using a crane. In the following work a new mold is used while retaining ring 11 is raised.
The drum 3 can then be driven to the floor 1 without hindrance. The mold is then lowered, the desired atmosphere, such as a vacuum, is made by pumps and pump connections that are not drawn or a protective gas is introduced, and the system is ready for operation again. Seal and flange between the Bo the 1 and drum 3 are shown in Fig. 1 with 2 be. The bottom piece 15 can be detached from the connection piece 13 at 14, but this is only used for assembly.
In modification of the case described in the game it is of course just as possible to run the horizontally displaceable Trom mel 3 on ball or roller bearings that are attached to the underside of the boiler and wear it instead of running it, as shown in FIG to hang up on rails 30 by means of roller 29. Likewise, the arrangement can also be made such that the drum 3 is stationary and, instead, the bottom 32, which closes the boiler vacuum-tight at 31, can be opened and closed.
In this case, the retaining ring 11 is expediently designed so that it can be opened or released so that when the mold holder is raised, the molds can be moved in and out of the furnace by means of a horizontally movable crane.
In Fig. 2 a reduced section along the line A-A of Fig. 1 is shown. A melting crucible 35 can be seen, which is inductively heated with an induction heating coil 36. A sight glass 33 is used to look into the boiler for the purpose of observing the melting and casting process. The crucible 35 can be tilted about an axis 34 which is guided through the base 1. Fig. 2a shows the crucible position during pouring, while Fig. 2b shows the crucible and mold in the position in which the drum 3 can be moved without hindrance tion.
In Fig. 2, 36 'denotes the connecting piece, 37 the support ring of the casting mold holder, 38 the collar by means of which the casting mold is carried, 39 the pouring funnel holder and 40 the pouring spout 41 represents the flange connection between the connecting piece 36' and the base piece 42 .
There is also the possibility of using the described device instead of just one mold of the mold to use several at the same time. In this case, a mold system is used in the connection piece 13 or 36 ', which can be raised and lowered tion by a common holding. Such a mold system is shown in Fig. 3 Licher detailed.
In Fig. 3, 59 denotes the double wall of a connecting piece (13 according to Fig. 1). A coolant flows through the space between the walls. A basket 60 is inserted into the connecting piece. Several molds, two of which 57 and 58 are drawn, rest on the reinforced bottom 64 of the basket 60. The basket 60 is carried by a carrier disk 63 which can rotate on ball bearings 61. The ball bearings are in turn supported by an annular plate 55 flanged vacuum-tight to the connecting piece 59 by means of an annular seal 56.
A rotatable hollow shaft 62 is vacuum sealed by an annular seal 54. As a result of the rotation, the individual molds are successively brought under the pouring funnel and the individual blocks are poured one after the other without it being necessary to interrupt the closed atmosphere inside the boiler.
Often, the ring seal 54 must also be cooled. This is effected by cooling water, which at -14 is through an annular groove. 51 of the seal housing 53 and through holes 58 in the hollow shaft 62 occurs. The cooling water rises into the shaft 62, flushed. the bottom 63 and returns via a pipe 57 and bores 59, annular groove -19 and drainage line 45 back. To the.
To seal individual cooling water paths against each other and to the outside even during the rotation of the axis 62, the ring seals 48, 50 and 52 are provided.
The described design of a vacuum furnace results in a huge saving in material and allows the dimensions of the kettle to be kept much smaller than would be necessary if blocks of the same length were to be cast in the usual known furnaces. Another possible embodiment of a vacuum furnace according to the invention is shown in FIG. In Fig. 4, 64 denotes a horizontally lying boiler drum, 65 and 66 denote the two boiler bottoms, 67 the connecting piece, 68 the casting mold, 69 a sea salt crucible and 75 the working platform on which both the tiltable crucible 69 and the operating lever 70 for raising and lowering the mold 68 are attached.
FIG. 4a shows the moment of pouring, FIG. 4b), however, shows the crucible in its vertical normal position, while the casting mold 68 is raised and therefore does not hinder the movement of the horizontally movable drum in this position.
If the drum is not designed to be movable, then, with the casting mold raised and the bottom 66 open, this casting mold itself can be moved horizontally out of or into the furnace by means of a crane.
To operate the lifting device is used in the furnace according to Figo. 4 the lever 70. Lever 70 can be actuated by a hydraulic lifting device 71, as shown schematically in FIG. 72 denotes the fulcrum of the lever 70. 73 denotes two pins on the casting mold 68, by means of which the lever 70, which has the shape of a fork at this end, can carry the casting mold 68. 74 is the pivot point of the tiltable crucible. The axis of rotation of the crucible is in turn actuated from outside the vacuum space through a vacuum-sealed rotary leadthrough.
The embodiment shown in Fig. 4 allows a symmetrical structure of the furnace. The connection piece is (on the other hand than in the arrangement of FIG. 2), not shifted laterally, but in the middle. The completely sy = mmetric design also provides more space for pivoting crucible movements or, with the symmetrical design, it is possible to manage with an even smaller diameter of the drum.
