Le présent brevet a également pour objet une ma chine pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé, comprenant : un support capable de tourner autour d'un axe vertical et présentant une table horizontale portant des éléments de centrage pour recevoir et maintenir une pièce détermi née dont un biseau tronconique doit être poli, de telle manière que l'axe du cône défini par ledit biseau coïncide avec l'axe de rotation du- dit support ; une broche coaxiale audit support, mobile verticalement et portant à une extré mité un élément rotatif muni d'un tampon sou ple ;
Process for polishing frustoconical bevels of watch movement parts and machine for implementing this process Polishing the bevels of watch movement parts such as plates, bridges, winding masses, etc., is carried out generally done by the nickel maker, just before going to the bath, while the blanks are still rough. The handling of the polished parts is however extremely delicate, because it is necessary to avoid any contact of the polished surfaces with any foreign body, such contact leaving traces on said surfaces and the deposit obtained by the bath not being of this. not regular.
Nickelers usually arrange to carry out said polishing operations near the nickel plating bath so as to be able to bath the polished parts as they are measured, without having to pack them for storage or transport.
However, when it comes to polishing the tapered bevels that are generally present in bridges or winding masses used in self-winding watches, it is necessary to use machines working with a diamond chisel to obtain a cleanly polished bevel and nickel makers who are not equipped with such machines, which are too expensive for their industry,
must hand over parts with polishing bevels to other companies with the necessary equipment. These must then package the parts that they have treated so that no foreign body can come into contact with said bevels during their transport to the nickel maker who then polishes or finishes in any other way the upper face. , flat, visible, of said parts before passing them to the nickel plating bath.
All these handling increases considerably the cost price of watches whose movement includes parts with polished bevels.
The machines usually used for polishing bevels are relatively expensive precision lathes in which the workpiece is arranged vertically, so that the axis of the cone defined by the bevel to be polished coincides with the axis of rotation of the spindle of the machine. tower, which is horizontal. In addition, these lathes must be equipped so that the workpiece does not fall, since the polished bevel would in all probability encounter a foreign body when it falls.
To avoid the latter, the workpiece is mounted on a special support fixed in the -spindle of the lathe, the tailstock of which carries a removable device provided with a flexible pad intended to press said workpiece against its support; the latter and said positive clamping device being arranged so that they can be removed from the lathe together without releasing the workpiece.
We see that this way of doing things involves a lot of expensive manipulations. The object of the invention is to simplify the polishing of the frustoconical bevels of timepieces such as plates, bridges, winding masses, etc., by eliminating some of the handling operations mentioned above or by significantly reducing them. In addition, it enables the nickel manufacturer to obtain a machine free of charge allowing him to polish the bevels in question himself.
The present patent relates to a process for polishing said bevels according to which: the part having a bevel to be polished is placed flat on a support capable of being rotated about a vertical axis, so that the axis of the cone defined by said bevel coincides with said vertical axis, then this part is clamped on said support by means of a flexible buffer carried by an element arranged so as to be able to slide vertically and rotate coaxially with said support. support, this support is rotated around said axis and approaches said bevel, laterally, a polishing chisel.
The present patent also relates to a machine for the implementation of this method, comprising: a support capable of rotating about a vertical axis and having a horizontal table carrying centering elements for receiving and holding a given part a frustoconical bevel of which must be polished, so that the axis of the cone defined by said bevel coincides with the axis of rotation of said support; a spindle coaxial with said support, movable vertically and carrying at one end a rotary element provided with a flexible buffer;
adjustable means for bringing and maintaining said spindle in a position such that its buffer presses the workpiece on said table, and a chisel-holder carriage, with two horizontal slides.
The method defined by claim I is illustrated below with the aid of an example described with reference to the drawing which represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine for the setting of this cover. process. In this drawing, fig. 1 is an elevational view of said machine, with certain parts in section; fig. 2 is an elevational view, partially cut away and on a larger scale, of an element of the machine of FIG. 1; and fig. 3 is a plan view of the element shown in FIG. 2.
The machine shown in the drawing com takes a frame 1 intended to be fixed, for example, on a workbench. This frame carries a second, designated by 2, which can slide vertically under the action of a micrometric screw 3 capable of being blocked by a member 4. A shaft 5 integral with a pulley 6 and carrying a cleat 7 is rotatably mounted on the frame 2, so that its axis is vertical. The pulley 6 is intended to be driven from a motor (not shown), by a belt (also not shown) which is engaged in its groove.
A hole 8 is further drilled in this pulley and a pin 9 is mounted on the frame 2, so as to be able to slide longitudinally in the latter so that its end penetrates into the hole 8 when the latter is in contact. vis-à-vis the pin and that the latter is pushed in the direction of the shaft 5. The pin 9 and the hole 8 serve in particular to block the shaft 5 in rotation relative to the frame 2.
The shaft 5 is crossed by a screw 10 intended to fix a support 11 on the cleat 7. The frame 2 also carries a spindle 12 coaxial with the shaft 5. This spindle 12, which is under the action of a spring 13 which the licit sol upwards, presents -a thread of rectangular or trapezoidal profile 14, of which the sum of the threads defines, consequently, a cylindrical surface which serves to guide the pin 12 in two bezels 15 of the frame 2. The spindle 12 is engaged by its thread 14 in a threaded ring 16 and located between the two bezels 15. A clamping screw 17 makes it possible to block the ring 16 with respect to the spindle 12.
An eccentric 18 integral with a crank 19 enables the pin 12 to be actuated by making it descend against the action of the spring 13 to a lower position determined by a stop 20 planted in the frame 2 and which determines the extreme position of the crank 19. However, the lower position of the spindle 12 can be adjusted as desired, thanks to the ring 16 in which it suffices to screw the spindle 12 more or less.
The latter has a pivot 21 supplied with a part, not shown, which is mounted rotatably in the spindle 12, with the smallest possible friction. This pivot 21 carries an element 22 which is fixed to it by a screw 23. The lower face of this element 22 is lined with a flexible pad comprising a layer 24 of very soft elastic material, such as foam rubber or cork. and a layer 25 of also elastic material, but much more rigid than that of the layer 24, this layer 25 possibly being made, for example, of hard rubber.
The frame 1 also carries a carriage with two horizontal slides. The slide 26 of this carriage can move in particular from left to right in the drawing, under the action of a control level 27 and the slide 28 can move back and forth under the action of a crank. control 29. The slide 28 carries a diamond chisel 30 drilled with a hole near its end, which is intended to be threaded onto a pin 31, flat in the body of the slide 28. This chisel is retained in place by a flange 32 guided relative to the slide 28 and capable of being clamped against the latter by a pin 33 and a bolt 34.
Element 11 is shown in detail in FIGS. 2 and 3. It forms a horizontal table of tines to receive a finishing bridge 35 of a timepiece. The bridge 35 is centered so that its bevel 36, which must be polished, is coaxial with the shaft 5 carrying the element 11. This centering is achieved in particular by two pins 37 planted in the element 11 and intended to penetrate in the openings of the bridge 35 of the tines to receive the screws for fixing this bridge to the plate of the movement of said timepiece. The -35 bridge is partially housed in a cutout 38 of a plate 39 which covers the element. 11 and which is integral with the latter.
The upper face of the bridge 35 is so slackened one or two tenths of a millimeter above that of the plate 39, so that the layer 25 of the tampon carried by the element 22 of the pin 12 contacts the upper face. of the bridge, so as to press the latter against a cylindrical element 40 fixed by being driven into a hole in the support 11.
A clearance 41 is cut in the latter so as to allow the engagement of a point of a tweezer under the bridge 35, when one wants to remove the latter from said support: To polish the bevel 36 of the bridge 35, this is placed. last on the support 11 in the position shown in the drawing, while the upper face of this bridge 35 is still raw. Then the buffer (24 - 25) is lowered onto the bridge 35, so as to press the latter on its support.
The drive motor of the shaft 5 is then actuated and the chisel 30, the inclination of which has been suitably adjusted beforehand, relative to the angle of the bevel 35, is approached. the offset with respect to the axis of rotation of the shaft 5 has also been suitably adjusted with respect to its cutting angle with the aid of the crank 29, by operating only the crank 27 which moves the slide 26 in relation to the frame 1.
The travel of this slide 26 to the right of FIG. 1 is limited by an adjustable stop 42 screwed into an internal thread of the frame 1. This stop 42 can be adjusted, in particular so that the operator of the machine can rapidly advance the chisel 30 to the immediate vicinity of the bevel 35, after which a spring 43 opposes a substantially greater resistance, without however preventing a subsequent advance of the slide 26 towards the bridge 35.
The polish wise operation can be followed closely, thanks to a magnifying glass 44 which is mounted on the frame 2.
When this operation is completed, the chisel is removed. 30 by moving the slide 26 to the left, the drive motor of the shaft 5 is stopped and the spindle 12 is raised by actuating the crank 19. The bridge 35 is then released and it is possible grasp it using a tweezer, one point of which is engaged under this bridge in the clearance 41 of the support 11 and the other point of which passes over the bridge 35, without risking to touch the bevel 36 which has just been polished.
This bridge can then be placed on a support similar to the support 11 and fixed, for example, to a work board, from which it will be carried out to the following operation consisting in polishing the upper face of this bridge.
It is understood that the machine described is set once and for all when it comes to polishing the bevels of a series of identical bridges. When it comes to then polishing, for example another part of the same timepiece, it will naturally be necessary to re-adjust the height of the frame 2, the inclination of the chisel 30 and the position of the slide 28, and also use another support than the support 11, this other support also having a suitably cut upper plate, as well as centering pins.
On the other hand, depending on the angle of the bevel to be polished and the dimensions of the part on which it is cut, we will use flexible pads of different diameters.
It can thus be seen that the only tool necessary to use the machine described consists, on the one hand, of a set of elements (22, 24, 25) of different diameters and, on the other hand, of sets of supports similar to support 11 for each caliber of timepiece to be machined.
