Description

Process for the production of thin-walled objects from plastic
Thin-walled objects such as lampshades, luminous and advertising signs, relief bodies for writing and plastic are usually made of glass, paper, parchment, enamelled sheet metal, plastic foils and the like. The disadvantage here is that these materials are either fragile, poorly lent permeable, tearable or deformable and, in the case of parchment or pigskin, are also expensive.

The present invention relates to a method for the production of thin-walled objects from plastics, which is characterized in that curable synthetic resin compositions in the liquid state are poured into corresponding molds and cured therein by polymerization or polyaddition.

Particularly suitable synthetic resins are unsaturated poly. esterha. rze (such as Marko resins) and ethoxylin resins, which can be cured in molds in the low-pressure process in air or in drying systems, expediently with heat supplied by infrared radiation.

When using low-pressure resins, especially contact resins, only corresponding model molds, which can be made of any material or plastic, are required to carry out the process, since these liquid synthetic resins change to the solid state without volatilization of solvents and without significant pressure.

Expensive investments in presses etc. are therefore not necessary. With the appropriate choice of synthetic resins, the bodies produced according to the process have high light permeability of up to 95% and high dielectric values, are insensitive to acids, alkalis and atmospheric influences, are almost unbreakable and compatible with other materials of all kinds. They do not require any further post-treatment and can look like a high-lacquer.

Transparent plastics and advertising objects produced according to the process can have a luminous body, e.g. B. enclose a neon light body on all sides and thereby create a high level of advertising: - and create an artistic effect.

The liquid synthetic resin masses can optionally be supplemented with the desired light effect. Substances such as fillers, dyes, fluorescent, phosphorescent substances can be added. Fluorescent and phosphorescent substances, preferably in the form of pearls, are embedded with particular advantage. This enables special light and radiation effects to be achieved, even those that appear on facet-cut glasses.

Solid bodies such as grasses, flowers, pictures, maps, paper cutouts, insects, printed batiste and the like can also be inserted into the liquid synthetic resin compounds. These inlaid bodies are given unlimited colors and their appearance. B. practically unbreakable lampshades of high commercial value can be produced.

Furthermore, glass fabric printed or painted with any motifs and colors can be embedded in the liquid synthetic resin compounds, expediently after venting in a vacuum mold. In lampshades and the like produced in this way, the glass fabric is invisible in its contours; only the colors can be seen, which guarantees an extraordinarily beautiful appearance for objects made in this way.

Finally, lattice-shaped bodies, such as aluminum or plastic lattice, can also be embedded in the liquid synthetic resin mass, whereby the manufactured objects are given a correspondingly high strength.
