Fig. 4 einen fertiggepressten Tampon.
Method of manufacturing a menstrual tampon
In the field of monthly hygiene there are already a number of different cotton tampons which differ from one another in terms of construction. They all have the disadvantage that they are in some way prevented from swelling due to their construction and) do not achieve maximum absorbency. Be it that the pull-back thread is sewn in and a corresponding cotton space remains unused, or other types which are rolled up without a hollow space and therefore have only a very low swelling capacity. The latter also have other disadvantages.
The outer cotton wool. The pendulous are exposed to the surface without being fixed, which does not prevent pieces of cotton swab from being left behind after changing the tampon and causing infection. Furthermore, the retraction thread is fixed in the tampon with both ends facing outwards. This does not rule out the risk that when pulling out the tampon, only one thread end is pulled, the pulling thread becomes detached from the tampon and the tampon thus remains in the vagina without pulling thread.
All of these disadvantages have not yet been met by menstrual tampons, especially not for women with heavy bleeding.
The present invention enables these disadvantages to be overcome. The method according to the invention consists in that at least one wadding layer is unwound from a wadding roll, the width of which corresponds to twice the length of the tampon before it is pressed, rolled up including a cavity and torn off, whereupon the resulting roll is folded across its length in the middle that the tear-off point comes to lie between the two adjacent parts, whereupon these two parts are connected by a pull-back thread.
The menstrual tampon produced according to the method is characterized in that it consists of a wound body folded in the longitudinal center and made of an absorbent, soft material and has a pull-back thread.
Embodiments of the method and of the tampon produced after the method are described, for example, with the aid of the accompanying drawing. It shows :
1 shows a tampon in front of the press, wrapped and folded with an enclosed pull-back thread,
2 shows a similar tampon in which the withdrawal thread is drawn in twice as a loop,
3 shows a variant embodiment in which the thread is subsequently pulled through the two end parts of the tampon blank as a loop,
4 shows a fully pressed tampon.
1, 2 and 3 show a tampon blank 1 of about 16-22 cm in length in the unfolded state, which has a cavity 2 of about 2 em in diameter. The thin wadding 3 is unwound from a wadding roll, which has a width of 16-22 cm, and according to FIGS. 1 and 2 a withdrawal thread 4 is inserted, which is rolled up together with the wadding on an axis of about 2 cm diameter If the attic is torn off, i.e. not cut off, so that a gradual transition occurs.
The axle is then pulled out of the roll. The tampon blank is folded in its longitudinal center 5 in such a way that the two blank parts 6 and 7 come to lie one on top of the other in such a way that the two halves of the tear-off point 8 lie against one another between the two parts 6 and 7.
The tear-off point 8 is therefore no longer exposed on the surface and prevents fraying. The curved blank part 5 ensures the greatest security with regard to fraying, in that no open or free cotton part comes to lie in the inner genitals.
Both ends of the blank are in use at the vagina exit. The return thread 4 is knotted and thereby the two parts 6 and 7 are held together and prevents the thread from being pulled out of the tampon.
According to FIG. 2, the retraction thread 4 is provided with a loop 10, the two ends of which can also be knotted, as in FIG. 1, but this is not absolutely necessary, because the looping at 10 provides complete security that the thread cannot be pulled out of the tampon is given.
Fig. 3 shows another example for loading the retraction thread 4 and to connect the two parts 6 and 7 together. In FIG. 3, the blank parts 6 and 7 lying on top of one another are interspersed with the withdrawal thread twice, approximately 2-3 cm behind the ends, and this forms a loop 11.
Of course, a simple pull-back thread with a knot end can also be attached.
In order to make the tampon feel more airy, a double layer can be inserted when rolling, which is pulled out again before folding after winding. A flexible plate of 1-3 mm. Thickness can be used.
FIG. 5 shows a ready-pressed tampon which is made from the blanks according to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3.
