Safety device for a passenger behind the driver of a two-wheeled vehicle With modern vehicles of locomotion, such as motor bicycles, motorcycles, scooters and the like, the quiet step behind the driver is constantly placed in an unstable position. He risks that when the vehicle is started at high speed he will lose his balance and fall to the ground at the slightest kickback he receives as a result of a turn taken too short or a brake applied too suddenly. by the driver of the vehicle.
The passenger is therefore obliged to cling as best they can either to the body of the driver or to the front bar of his seat. In the first case, the passenger quickly experiences fatigue as a result of the uncomfortable grip sometimes offered by the driver's build, said build blocking his view of part of the road, in order to avoid capsizing. In the second case, the passenger is placed in a continual position of imbalance, his arms being constantly stretched out on a support bar too low in relation to the center of gravity of his torso.
To remedy these drawbacks, the present invention relates to a safety device for a passenger placed behind the driver of a two-wheeled vehicle. This device is characterized in that it comprises a belt provided with at least one bare retaining means, said belt being intended to be worn by the driver of the vehicle and allows both said passenger, by said retaining means, to '' ensure his balance without fatigue, whatever the backlashes he has to undergo,
resulting from driving the vehicle.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows three embodiments of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a first embodiment of the device formed by a belt and a strap serving as a gripping member.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is an elevational view, similar to that of FIG. 1, of a second embodiment of the device formed of a belt and two side handles serving as a gripping member.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of FIG. 3. Fig. 5 is an elevational view, similar to FIGS. 1 and 3, but on a smaller scale, of a third embodiment of the device, representing a combination of the first two.
Fig. 6 is a plan view of FIG. 5. Finally, FIG. 7 is a schematic perspective view showing a motorcycle with the driver and passenger mounted one behind the other, the passenger holding onto the safety device carried by said driver.
In the first embodiment (fig. 1 and 2), the safety device comprises a belt 1, for example made of leather, of great width, the ends of which are provided with straps 2 and buckles 3, respectively. A niere 4 is fixed by its ends to the middle part of the belt 1 and halfway up the latter, for example by means of rivets 5, 5 ', and so as to leave a small free space between it and belt 1 to slide your hands inside.
The belt 1 is worn around the torso by the driver of a two-wheeled vehicle, for example a bicycle, a motorcycle, a scooter or the like.
Placed behind the driver, the passenger can hold onto the strap 4 by his hands, his arms being bent and spread apart in a comfortable position which prevents him from getting tired and allows him to turn around in his seat without losing his balance. .
In the second embodiment (fig. 3 and 4), the safety device comprises a belt formed of three elements, namely a middle part 6, extending over a semi-circle and at the ends of which are fixed belts 7, 7 ', the belt 7 being terminated by straps 8 and the belt 7' by loops 9. At the junction of the belts 7 and 7 'with the middle part 6 of the belt, handles 10 are attached , 10 'respectively, for example by means of rivets 11.
The handles 10, 10 'are placed vertically, so that they can be fixed over the entire height of the belt at the junction of the respective straps with the middle part 6.
In the embodiment described, the sager, placed behind the driver of the vehicle, can be held on to the handles 10, 10 'of the belt worn by said driver, thus ensuring him in balance and causing him no fa- tigue, thanks to the splayed position that his bent arms can take.
In the third embodiment (fig. 5 and 6) which is a combination of the first two, the safety device comprises a belt 12, formed in the same way as that described with regard to the second embodiment, and a strap 4, the attachment of which to the belt 12 is of the same type as that which attaches the strap 4 to the belt 1 (Fig. 1 and 2).
The combination of the handles 10, 10 'and of the strap 4 on the belt 12 has the advantage for the passenger of being able to modify the position of his hands, more particularly when it comes to making a long journey, and to be able to relax the muscles of his arms. Furthermore, if he wishes to turn around to look behind him, the passenger, by holding back 4, will allow his torso to be more released than if he grasps the handles 10, 10 ', as shown. at the frg. 7.
One could also add to the belt of the safety device a pair of bre such, in order to relieve the pressure exerted in the ventral region of the driver by the tensile forces exerted by the passenger.
The described safety device could receive applications other than that intended for the balance and comfort of the passenger placed behind a vehicle driver, such as, for example, figure skating, water skiing and other sports practiced by two people coupled one behind the other.
