Fuel Injection Pump For Internal Combustion Engine The present invention relates to fuel injection pumps for internal combustion engines which are pumps of the rotary distributor type for sequentially connecting the pump to the injectors of the various cylinders of the engine which and are also of the type in which there are no check valves in the pressure lines.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a simple Vorrich device for relieving the pressure lines of the residual pressure after each injection with such a pump, the relief to prevent the drop on the injection nozzles of the machine cylinder Ma is required.
The fuel according to the invention - An injection pump for an internal combustion engine with a rotary distributor to connect the pump to the other with the injection nozzles of the various cylinders of the machine, and without a check valve in the pressure lines has a cylindrical cavity in the housing part of the pump next to the rotary distributor Inlet is controlled by the distributor, and a spring-loaded piston ben in this cavity, the whole thing in such a way that at the end of each delivery stroke of the pump, the distributor establishes a connection between the cavity and the corresponding pressure line, so that the pressure line by moving the piston from Residual pressure is relieved,
wherein the liquid fuel that has entered the cavity subsequently returns to the pump by the action of the spring influencing the piston.
The subject of the invention is shown, for example, on the accompanying drawing. Fig.1 is a longitudinal section which schematically shows a pump; 2, 3 and 4 are cross-sections along lines 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4, respectively, of FIG. 1, and FIG. 5 is a partial section of a modified embodiment of the pressure relief device.
The pump shown in the drawing has a housing part a which holds a rotor b ent. An approach c is formed on the rotor, which serves as a pump cylinder. One end of the rotor protrudes from the housing and is set in motion by any suitable power source. The other end of the rotor serves as a distributor.
In part c, a diametrically located borehole d is formed which contains two pump pistons e, and in the housing part there is a cam ring f, with which the outer end of the piston cooperate.
In the distributor there are an axial bore g starting from the center of the bore d, four radial fuel inlet channels h, which in turn are connected one after the other to a single fuel intake line i in the housing part, and a single radial outlet channel j which is in the series after with each of. four fuel pressure lines k is brought into connection.
The arrangement is such that the rotation of the rotor causes fuel to be sucked intermittently into the space between the adjacent ends of the pistons e and subsequently conveyed through the outlets k ge. In the housing part ca and in the plane of the channels h there is a small lateral cavity o which is open at its inner end and contains a piston m. At the end of the piston remote from the open end of the bore, a head n is formed which lies in a widened part of the cavity, which part contains a spring p which holds the piston in its normal position.
The cavity o is provided with a vent opening q. The arrangement is such that at or near the end of each injection process of the pump the open end of the cavity o with an adjacent, closed inlet channel h, then passes through the bore g is brought into connection with the pressure line k, through which liquid fuel is conveyed to the engine.
This has the effect that the associated pressure line k is relieved of the residual pressure by the movement of the piston m under the effect of the residual pressure in this line and against the effect of the spring p acting on the piston. This relief is brought about by the fact that a sufficient quantity of the fuel contained in the pressure line is transferred into the cavity.
Later the cavity is isolated by the distributor, and during the next suction of the pump this liquid returns to the pump through the distributor as a result of the pressure of the spring on the piston. In order to be able to change the amount of liquid allowed in the relief cavity, an adjustable stop r can be provided, as shown in FIG.
This stop r is screwed into the housing part, so that the position of the inner end of the stop for .the change in the free movement of the piston m can be set by operating an external lever s. This setting is also useful for adding an extra amount of fuel to the engine when it is started.
