Fuel supply device of a gas turbine system is the subject of the present invention. a fuel supply device of a gas turbine plant.
Usually owns. a gas turbine system has a compressor, one of the latter with compressed air. supplied combustion device and a turbine, which is driven by the combustion products from the combustion device and which in turn drives the compressor of the plant. The fuel supply device of a gas turbine system usually comprises fuel injection devices by means of which fuel is supplied to the combustion device of the system, and one with the injection devices. Fuel-feeding fuel pump.
According to the invention, the fuel supply system of a gas turbine system has fuel injection devices for supplying fuel to a combustion device arranged between a compressor and a turbine of the system, a centrifugal pipe for conveying fuel to the fuel injection devices, which centrifugal pump can be driven by an air motor which in turn can be driven by means of air compressed by the compressor of the system,
as well as a pump of the displacement type that can be driven by the system, which is switched in parallel to the centrifugal oil pump and is intended to convey fuel into the same combustion chamber as the centrifugal oil pump mentioned. The Verdrä.ngerbauart pump can be a pump with a constant flow rate at constant speed, e.g. B. a gear pump.
The air motor for driving the centrifugal oil pump is usefully an air turbine. As a result of the training mentioned, no high-speed mechanical drive between the system and the centrifugal pump is required.
The problem of cooling the fuel delivered by the centrifugal pump with low delivery rates and high machine speeds can be solved. -earth that the supply of drive air to the air motor is regulated appropriately, which also regulates the speed of the centrifugal pump; this regulation is expediently dependent on the desired fuel delivery.
Some embodiments of the fuel supply device according to the invention are shown in the accompanying drawings. It shows: FIG. 1 a gas turbine system with an associated fuel supply device, FIG. 2 a detail of a second example of a fuel supply device,
3 shows a variant of the example according to FIG. 2 and FIG. 4 shows a third example of a fuel supply device.
The gas turbine system according to FIG. 1 has a multistage axial flow chamber 10 which is connected to a combustion device 11 which is fed by it with compressed air. The combustion device 11 is supplied with fuel by means of fuel injection devices 12.
The fuel injection devices can be arranged such that fuel is injected into the combustion device either in the upstream direction or in the downstream direction or in the direction transverse to the gas flow direction in the combustion device.
The fuel injection devices are designed as atomizers and have a swirl chamber, which has an outlet opening as the only fuel outlet of the injection device. The Ausla.3- opening is shaped so that the jet of fuel emerging from it has the shape of a hollow cone. From the combustion device, the combustion products are fed to the turbine 13, which is driven by these combustion products. The exhaust gases from the turbine 13 are. expelled into the atmosphere.
If the gas turbine system is a jet engine, the turbine exhaust gases are guided through an exhaust pipe 16 and a jet pipe 14, at the outlet end of which a thrust nozzle 15 is arranged. The turbine rotor 13 is drivingly connected by a shaft 17 to the compressor rotor 10a. The turbine can be designed in one or more stages.
In order to feed the fuel injection devices 12, they are connected to a distributor pipe 23 which is connected to the outlet of a centrifugal pump 18 through a line 19. The inlet of the pump 18 is connected to a fuel tank 21 by a line 20.
To compensate for the pressure loss occurring in the line 20 between the tank 21 and the inlet of the centrifugal pump 18 and to achieve a small excess pressure in the inlet of the centrifugal pump 18. In the example shown, a feed pad 22 is provided. A throttle 24 is arranged in the line 19 for regulating the flow of fuel from the pump 19 to the injection devices 12. The throttle 24 is controlled by means of a fuel control device 2-1a.
A gear pump 25 is arranged parallel to the centrifugal tunnel 18, the inlet of which is connected to the same fuel source. like the Zentrifugalpu.mpe 18. The gear pump 25 conveys fuel to the same combustion unit 11 as the centrifugal pump 18. The gear pump 25 is conveyed via a line 26 through the feed pipe 22. Fuel fed.
Legs exemplary embodiment according to. Fig. 1 promotes. the gear pump 25 fuel through an outlet line 27 into the delivery line 19 of the centrifugal pump 18.
At the outlet of the centrifugal pump 18, a back-up valve 28 is provided to prevent fuel delivered by the gear pump 25 from flowing backwards through the 7, enti-ifiigalptunpe 18 at low speeds of the centrifugal pump.
A return valve 36 is also arranged in the outlet line 27, the line 27 being connected to the line 30 by a return line 37 in which a pressure relief valve 38 is arranged. The valve 38 has the effect of keeping the fuel pressure constant in the outlet line 27 upstream of the pressure relief valve 36.
In the lines 19 and 27 mitein other coupled shut-off taps 39 are net angeord. When the system is in operation, the two shut-off taps 39 are completely open, while when the system is shut down they are completely closed.
The impeller 18u of the centrifugal pump 18 is arranged on the same shaft 30 as the rotor 31a of the air turbine 31. The air turbine 31 is. ver by a line 34 with the delivery line 32 of the compressor connected; However, it could also be connected to the air housing of the combustion device 11 via the line 234 (Fig. 1) or to an intermediate stage of the compressor via the line 134 (Fig. 1). The centrifugal pump can be of any suitable type; she can z.
B. have a paddle wheel acted only on one side, as z. B. is described in more detail in Swiss Patent No. 294842.
The gear pump 25 may be of any suitable known type. The gear pump 26 is driven by the machine shaft 17 via a drive connection 33 is. The gear pump 25 is to be true to supply fuel under pressure at low operating speeds of the system of the combustion device if, according to the peculiar delivery characteristics of the centrifugal pump 18, the delivery of the latter is too low.
The control device 24a provided between the outlet of the centrifugal pump 18 and the fuel injection devices 12 controls. the amount of fuel flowing to the injectors 12. The control device can be of any suitable type; she can z. B. be designed as described in more detail in Swiss Patent No. 290700.
As is well known, the amount of fuel to be supplied to a combustion device of a gas turbine system to maintain a certain number of machines is reduced when the air pressure in the inlet of the compressor decreases with increasing altitude above sea level.
If so. the centrifugal pump 18 , as has already been proposed, is driven by a shaft of the system and the pump is dimensioned so that it delivers the required large amount of fuel at high inlet pressures in the compressor (e .g . At pressure at sea level), there is a considerable backflow of fuel at the same engine speed, but at a higher altitude above sea level, where a smaller amount of fuel is required. The return of the fuel can lead to boiling and the formation of air bubbles in the fuel supply device.
In the case of high-speed aircraft or their engines, the problem explained above occurs to a greater extent, since a significantly higher inlet pressure occurs at sea level due to the congestion effect and the pump is therefore designed for a significantly higher mass flow rate have to be.
By the centrifugal pump 18 is driven by an air turbine 31, which in turn is driven by compressed air from the compressor 10: the speed falls. of the pump 1.8 automatically when the compressor inlet pressure decreases, since the pressure of the air drawn from the compressor 10 or from the air housing of the combustion device and used to drive the air turbine depends on the compressor inlet pressure at a given engine speed. In this way, the fuel delivery is automatically reduced, more or less in proportion to the fuel requirement of the system, so that boiling or air bubble formation can be avoided.
In addition, the control device 24a only has to compensate for the relatively small difference between the fuel delivery of the centrifugal pump and the actual respective fuel requirement of the system and can therefore be designed to be less sensitive than a control device which, when the system is operating at a great height, the fuel flow from the large Delivery rate of the pump, which must be seen in order to meet the large fuel requirement at sea level, to the small fuel delivery,
which corresponds to the relatively low fuel requirement of the plant at a great height, must reduce.
The exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is, with a few exceptions, constructed in the same way as the device according to FIG. 1. Here, the gear pump 25 conveys fuel through a line 127 into a separate distribution pipe 123. Each fuel injection device 112 has a central chamber and an annular chamber surrounding the latter. Each of these chambers has an outlet opening opening into the combustion chamber, as is the case, for.
Tie. Swiss Patent Nos. 265947 and 276515 is described in more detail. The fuel delivered by the centrifugal pump 18 passes from the distributor pipe 23 through branch lines 29 to one of the two chambers of each fuel injector 112, while the fuel delivered by the gear pump 25 is fed through branch lines 129 to the other of the two chambers of each injector 112 .
In a variant of the fuel supply device shown in FIG. 2, as FIG. 3 shows, two pairs of fuel injection devices 212 and 212a are provided.
From the distribution pipe 23, fuel passes through branch lines 29 to the injection devices 212, while fuel passes from the distribution pipe 123 through branch lines 129 to the injection devices 212a.
In both embodiments according to FIGS. 2 and 3, fuel conveyed by the two pumps 18, 25 passes through separate lines to the combustion device of the system.
Another embodiment of the control device 24, which could also be used with the fuel supply devices according to FIGS. 1-3, is shown in FIG. 4, specifically in application to a device according to FIG.
Here, the fuel flow coming from the pump 18, which is supplied to the fuel injection devices, is controlled by an air throttle 35 in the air supply line 34 by means of a control device 35a.
Instead of the fuel throttle 24 used in the examples described above, an air throttle 35 is thus provided here, while the control device 24c is replaced by a control device 35a; the latter can be designed similarly to the device 24a. The control device 35a controls the speed of the centrifugal pump 18 in terms of the education of the desired fuel flow.
In the present case, the air throttle 35 only has to exert a slight control effect, since the pressure of the tapped air automatically increases with it. the inlet pressure of the compressor 10 changes.
