Device for securing elements such as piles and the like with any member The present invention relates to a device for easily and rapidly securing to each other or with any member that elements to be driven into the ground or to be torn out, such as than piles, casings, sheet piles and the like, hereinafter referred to by the generic term of piles.
This device is characterized in that it comprises a belt intended to be fixed on one of the elements to be secured, which belt carries inflatable members using a pressurized fluid, which come to rest on the other element to be joined.
This device can be used to secure between them two elements of piles for their driving or their tearing. It can also be used to fix the device on the pile to ensure or facilitate the driving or pulling of the pile.
In one embodiment of the device, the belt comprises a helical groove which receives a pipe of elastic material capable of being inflated by a pressurized fluid. This elastic pipe is preferably in several independent sections.
The appended drawings represent, by way of example, embodiments of the pneumatic clamping device according to the invention. Figs. 1 to 3 show such a device applied to the fastening with a pile, of the apparatus intended to communicate to it the impulses for driving or pulling out.
FIG 1 is a schematic overall view in longitudinal section before and after inflation. Fig. 2 shows on a larger scale in section one of the elements of the device shown before tightening.
Fig. 3 shows the same element after tightening.
Figs. 4 and 5 show the device for joining two elements of the pile.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of the clamping device.
Fig. 5 is a view on a larger scale of an element of FIG. 4.
As seen in fig. 1, the clamping device intended to secure the driving apparatus with the pile 8, consists of a belt 9 carrying a helical groove 7 in which elements 6 with pneumatic or hydraulic inflation are arranged.
These elements comprise (Figs. 2 and 3) an elastic tube 10 which can be inflated by means of compressed air or other pressurized fluid. The elastic hose 10 is preferably divided into several independent sections to ensure sufficient clamping even in the event of accidental shutdown of one or more sections.
The pipe 10 is inserted into a part 11 in the general shape of an I, less elastic than the pipe. On the side opposite the pipe 10, the part it encloses a trapezoidal section 12 of hard elastic material.
Before inflation, the device is as shown in fig. 2. The internal diameter of the belt 9 lined with elastic turns 6 is greater than the diameter of the cylinder 8 to be secured. The belt 9 can move longi tudinally.
During inflation, the tube 10 begins by pushing back the part 11, in the direction of the stake 8 to be tightened.
At the moment when the trapezoidal profile 12 comes into contact with this cylinder, the wings 13 of the intermediate piece 11 come into contact with the walls 14 of the helical groove, helically of the belt 9.
From this moment, by continuing to inflate, the internal pressure of the fluid contained in the tube 10 is communicated, by the intermediary of the elements previously described, to the walls 14 of the helical groove and between the pile 8 and the belt 9 , which are thus made united.
The forces which can be transmitted from the belt 2 to the pile 8 and vice versa, either in the direction of the common axis or perpendicular to the latter, are only limited by the friction reactions of the semi-elastic parts of the device described, on the metal faces of the two members thus secured.
In the case of Figures 4 and 5, two tubing elements A and B can be joined together by implementing the same means as that which has just been described, but with the difference that: 1 the surfaces 15 and 16 are slightly conical; 20 there is no play between the male and female ends of the tubes to be keyed during their assembly, before tightening; 30 the device comprises only one element with pneumatic or hydraulic inflation constituted by a tube of hard elastic material 17 perfectly matching the helical groove 18, which forms its housing.
It can therefore be understood that the inflation pressures of the elastic pipe 17 are transmitted entirely between the two faces to be blocked, since the pipe only undergoes a slight compression deformation (from to 9). The pipe can therefore be formed by a compact elastic material of low persistence. Under these conditions, the transmission of forces from one casing element to another takes place with the minimum deformation of the elastic tube, and therefore of relative angular or longitudinal displacement of a casing element, with respect to the other.
Of course, the shape of the groove and that of the elastic elements are adapted to the shape and to the nature of the elements to be joined.
