Device for the fluid-tight fastening of the edge of a flexible membrane and the use of this device. "t, the edge of the membrane having a throat,
which protrudes into at least one recess of one part. This part. can be either rigid or compliant.
The patent also relates to the use of the device in a container for the purpose of dividing the interior of the container by means of the membrane into two spaces separated from one another in a fluid-tight manner.
The invention is particularly valuable for use with fuel containers, which can be made of metal and housed within the thin wing structure of an aircraft.
Such a thin wing excludes the possibility of attaching normal accessories, such as a fuel pump provided on the container. A bie-Same Gunimi membrane was therefore used to convey the fuel from the container to the aircraft engine, which is attached to the wall of the tank and approximates at least part of the inner surface of this tank can.
The tank or container is filled with fuel on one side of the membrane, and compressed air can be admitted on the other side of the membrane in order to cause an outflow of fuel through a suitable pipe protruding from the container.
Four embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing: FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view and shows a section through a detail of a cylindrical container which has a circular opening closed by a flexible rubber membrane in a flexible one Wall has.
Fig. 2 shows in transverse continuity a single unit of a cylindrical container, which has a closed by a flexible Gununimembrane circular opening in a rigid wall.
FIG. 3 is a vertical section through a two-part, cylindrical, metal fuel container which is provided with a flexible rubber membrane, and FIG. 4 shows a variant of the one in FIG. 3 </ B> shown construction.
In the first embodiment according to the section shown in FIG. 1, a circular metal ring 19 is connected to the edge part of a circular opening formed in a rubber wall 21. The ring 19 is provided with a Ringa, -Lis recess and the thickened edge part 2,
5 a bie-seed rubber membrane 27 is housed inside this recess. This edge part protruding into the recess corresponds approximately to the shape of the atis recess. A clamping member 299 is attached to the ring 19 by means of screws which are spaced around the circumference of the clamping member in order to press the thickened edge part together and to create a fluid-encased connection.
As a result of the delimitation of the joint pressure of the thickened edge part by the contact of the parts 19 and 29 , the thickened edge part can only be compressed to a limited extent. As a result of the pressure being limited in this way, not only is a fluid-tight seal formed between the membrane and the two parts 19 and 29, but also damage to the thickened edge part the membrane avoided when the container is exposed to a violent shock.
In the second exemplary embodiment according to the detail shown in FIG. 2, a channel recess 31 is created in a rigid (e.g. metal) wall 33 in the vicinity of one that is present therein formed circular opening. The thickened end part 35 of a flexible rubber membrane 37 is arranged within this recess and is pressed together by a clamping element 39 on the fixed wall in order to form a fluid-wrapped connector - is fastened at intervals with bolts.
In the third example shown in FIG. 13, a cylindrical metal one is made up of two approximately identical parts 41, -13, , each of which is provided with a flat face 45, 47 Fuel tank formed. The plan view 47) is provided with an annular recess and the thickened edge 49 of a rubber membrane 51 is placed within this recess before the two parts are connected to each other around their paddles by spaced bolts.
In this example, the upper part of the tank 43 serves at the same time as a clamping member and by compressing the thickened edge (the pressure, as described above, being created by the use of thimble parts provided between the splashes > 52 C ) a fluid-reversed seal is formed. The upper part of the container is provided with an air inlet 53 and the lower part with a fuel outlet 55 .
Fig. 4 shows a variant of the with reference to Fi, ".
 - 3 described construction. In this variant, each part 57, 59 is provided with an A recess, and the edge 61 of the membrane 63 has the shape of a WList.
It should be noted that the shape of the thickened edge portion of the membrane is not limited to that shown in the operational planes. Examples are shown, but can also be designed differently, provided it is such that it forms a fluid-reversed connection in connection with the .A.ussparLing.
From the described examples it is evident that the thickened edge part. with regard to its shape, it does not necessarily have to correspond to the recess.
