Description

Separator for electrical storage batteries The invention relates to a separator for electrical storage batteries, which is composed of a corrugated sheet of perforated plastic and a flat sheet which is glued to the corrugated sheet along the lines of contact of the waves with the flat sheet.

A particularly useful separator of this known type is obtained if, according to the invention, the flat sheet is porous and acid-resistant. impregnated paper is used.

In the drawing, an execution example of the subject invention is Darge provides.

Figure 1 shows a view of the separator with the paper sheet removed over part of the separator surface.

Add. 2 shows, on a larger scale, a partial cross section @ through the separator along the line II-II in FIG.

  1. A corrugated and perforated sheet of polyvinyl chloride, which is traded under the protected word mark Igelit, for example, is designated. Furthermore, 2 denotes a sheet of porous, acid-proof impregnated paper less than 0.6 mm thick. A thickness of the paper of about 0.4 mm has proven to be particularly suitable. Both sheets are placed on top of each other and glued to the lines of contact between the waves.

The gluing was carried out thermally without additional adhesive, namely in such a way that the corrugated sheet made of thermoplastic material is heated along the lines of contact of the waves until the plastic softens. Then the ge corrugated sheet is pressed against the flat sheet of paper and held in this position until the plastic solidifies again.

The use of the paper sheet results in particularly uniform conditions for the passage of current.
