Device with cylinder and piston that can be moved in it
The invention relates to a device with a piston which is separated from a liquid and which can be pushed back and forth in a cylinder. B. Can be a plunger. nn.
The invention aims to reduce the piston clogging or obstructive effect caused in the liquid on solid particles floating.
The device according to the invention has a pair of annular webs on at least one of the two cooperating cylindrical guide surfaces of the piston and cylinder and furthermore has a filter medium through which liquid reaches the recess between these webs.
In the accompanying drawings, the subject matter of the invention is shown by way of example, namely FIGS. 1 to 6 show various typical embodiments of the present device.
In the example according to FIG. 1, the piston is designed as a hollow piston, the ends of which are open on one side and closed on the other, the open piston end facing the drive fluid used to actuate the piston. A recess b is formed around the circumferential surface of the piston, which leaves a relatively low web on both piston ends, while several openings are formed in the piston between this recess and the interior of the piston.
Furthermore, a filter plug e is pushed into the piston, which plug can be made of any suitable filter material, which catches the solid particles carried along by the liquid, but at the same time allows the liquid to flow relatively freely.
The arrangement is such that the liquid located in the gap between the cylinder f and the left-hand web has little or no pressure drop and thus little or no flow occurs in this gap. The liquid that can flow through the gap between the cylinder and the other web must go through the filter and is. therefore cleaned.
The exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2 is essentially similar to that shown in FIG. 1 and differs only in that the filter e has the shape of a cylindrical sleeve and an annular recess g is formed in the inner surface of the piston adjacent to this sleeve.
The example according to FIG. 3 is also approximately similar to the one according to FIG. 1 and differs only in that the piston is open at both ends and a wall h is formed in the piston between its ends.
In the example shown in FIG. 4, the piston is partially formed by the filter, which consists of a sleeve j. At one end of the sleeve an n ring k is attached, which forms one of the required webs, while at the other end of the filter a closure disk m with an annular flange n is secured, which forms the other web.
In the construction according to FIG. 5, the piston a only has to move a short distance in a cylinder f, for example in the cylinder of a hydraulic regulator, and the cylinder f is surrounded by an annular space o at the end facing the liquid to which the liquid has access. In this case, the piston is only provided with the annular recess b, and the openings d are formed in the adjacent part of the cylinder f. The recess b and the openings d can, however, both be formed in the cylinder, so that a lower ring web would be present on the latter on both sides of the recess.
In both cases, the filter material e is inserted in said annular space o.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, a plunger p extends through a cylindrical bore in a wall q which forms one end of a cylinder f. In this bore a shallow recess b is formed, which forms a pair of low webs c at both ends. A channel d for liquid is formed in the wall q between the cylinder space and the recess &, and in the inlet opening of this channel. A filter plug is inserted.
In the case of the guide devices described, the clogging or jamming of the plunger or par- ticles which are solid through the plunger and which are entrained by a liquid are prevented or reduced.
