Description

Electric with collector machine. The switching of to AC to collector motors raises, compared to to that of to direct current motors, a Greater difficulty, due to the kectrometric force of transformation induced by the variation of the inducing flux in the turns shorted by the brushes.

This electromotive force can be canceled for one or more determined speeds of the rotor (speed of synchronism or speed most favorable to the adjustment of the auxiliary poles). A all other speeds, it will produce currents circulation which will be closed by the brushes.

The importance of these. currents can be limited by keeping the maximum value of the inductive flux within limits fixed by experience, or by artificially increasing the value of the resistance of the turns of the armature winding short-circuited by the brushes.

However, the destructive effects of these currents on the collectors of the machines are not due only to the passage of the current, but above all to the spark which occurs when the blade leaves the broom, thus suddenly opening the circuit traversed by this circulating current.

The present invention relates to an electrical machine with collector, characterized in that the various successive blades of the collector are connected between them by means intended to damping the 'spark which occurs at the breaking of the current circulating between the brushes and the blades, at the moment when the contact between the latter comes to breaking as a result of the rotation of the collector.

Figs. 1. and 2 of the appended drawing represent, schematically and to by way of example, two embodiments of the invention. In the first embodiment, the successive blades of the collector are shunted by capacitors, while in the second embodiment, resistors are used for the same purpose.

In these figures, the armature winding is shown schematically at 1, the blades of the collector at 2 and a brush at 3. By 4, we denote in fig. 1 the capacitors and to the fîg. 2 sliuntage resistance.

These various shunt devices can also considerably improve the operation of direct current machines whose commutation is not black, by reducing the intensity of the interrupted currents causing a spark. the instant the broom leaves the blade.
