Electronic fluorescent lighting lamp. It has already been proposed to establish electronic fluorescent lighting lamps consisting of a transparent bulb in which a. a high vacuum has been produced and which contains an emissive cathode and an anode, a fluorescent coating being arranged inside said enclosure on the path of the electrons emitted by the cathode, such that the kinetic energy of these electrons are transformed into light energy when they impact on the fluorescent coating.
However, the lighting lamps of this type have remained, until now, at the state of theoretical concept and have never been produced industrially, for lack of meeting the conditions necessary to obtain a high luminous efficiency by being connected. directly on the usual distribution networks.
Now, it has been found, in accordance with the present invention, that, in establishing such an electronic fluorescent lighting lamp, the removal of the cathode with respect to the anode requires - if one wants to have a notable current without reaching prohibitive voltages - the use of a device capable of partially neutralizing the space charge.
To this end, the electronic centric fluorescent lighting lamp according to the invention is sterilized in that, between the cathode and the anode, are interposed a grid brought to a potential at most equal to the potential of the cathode. and a grid brought to a positive potential relative to the cathode, these two grids having substantially the same pitch and the elements of the positive grid being placed in the electronic shadow of the elements of the grid with a potential at most equal to that of the cathode.
This arrangement, which makes it possible to obtain electronic fluorescent lamps having a high illuminating power with the supply voltages of the usual distribution networks (110 or 220 volts), in fact constitutes an electronic lens which corrects the path of the electrons going from cathode to anode, so that the electrons almost uniformly reach the anode and the fluorescent coating hundred.
The grid with a potential at most equal to that of the cathode interposed between the positive grid and the cathode has the effect of making the trajectories of the electrons substantially parallel, whereas in the absence of such an arrangement these trajectories have divergent directions and intersect at a more or less small distance from the cathode, which determines a harmful space charge.
Under these conditions, the positive grid, which captures approximately 400 to 5001 / o of the anode current when no special precautions are taken, only captures 5% if the subdivisions of the two grids are properly aligned with each other. other.
In the production of a lighting lamp according to the invention, it is possible to construct the cathode and the grids in the conventional manner in which these various elements are arranged coaxially in a cylindrical or prismatic form. However, in the case where certain fluorescent substances are used which undergo an extinguishing action by the infrared rays coming from the cathode generally heated above 600 C, it is highly advantageous, in order to avoid this action, to use a cathode and grids formed by elements with a planar structure arranged parallel to one another and preferably perpendicular to the axis of the enclosure.
In the accompanying drawing, figs. 1 and 2 show, by way of nonlimiting examples, two embodiments of an electronic fluorescent lighting lamp according to the invention, in schematic vertical axial sections.
In the example of FIG. 1, the enclosure 1 of the lamp consists of a bulb of transparent material (glass or the like) having a shape similar to that of a mushroom and the base of which can be provided with a socket (not shown) allowing. to mount it in the manner of an incandescent lamp of the usual type. In 2 is shown an emissive cathode with indirect heating, constituted for example by a nickel tube of any section, covered with emissive substances, and arranged substantially in the axis of the bulb 1. The heating of this cathode is ensured by a spiraled tungsten filament 9, covered with alumina, and placed inside the cathode ray tube 2.
The cathode 2 and the filament 9 are secured to two mica washers. 10, 11 attached to base 1a; these washers also serve as supports for two grids 12 and 13 arranged around the cathode 2 and which will be discussed more explicitly below.
The internal wall of the part of the bulb 1. adjacent to the base is covered with a metal lization 14 forming an anode and on which is applied a fluorescent coating 6. The wall of the part of the bulb opposite the base is, in this example, devoid of everything and thus forms a transparent window which allows the light radiation coming from the coating 6 to pass freely in the direction most favorable to the use of the lamp.
The grids 12 and 13 are formed for example by helices of circular or rectangular section fixed to the mica washers 10 and 11 by bars 15. The grid 12, located in the immediate vicinity of the cathode 2, is here electrically connected to this der niere; she could. also be brought, by appropriate means, to a negative potential with respect to the cathode. The outer grid 13 is electrically connected to the anode 14 or otherwise brought to a positive potential with respect to the cathode. As was said above, the turns of this; ripe are arranged opposite those of the. grid 72, so as to be in their electronic shadow.
In the variant shown to la fi, -. '2, the anode 14 and the fluorescent coating 6 are applied, as in the example of FIG. 1, on the part of the internal wall of the bulb 1 adjacent to the base 1a, but the cathode 2 'and the grids 12' and 7.3 'consist of flat elements arranged perpendicular to the axis of the bulb 1 , the heating filament 9 'being placed parallel to the plane thereof. Thanks to this arrangement, the infrared rays emitted by the cathode 2 ′ are mainly directed towards the. part of the wall of the bulb not coated with fluorescent substance and consequently exert practically no extinguishing action on the coating 6.
