Geeignete, als Schädlingsbekämpfungsmit tel wirksame Verbindungen sind: Azobenzol, Hexachlorbenzol, a,a -Bis - (p - ehlorpheny l)- ss,ss,p-t.riehloräthan, Hexaäthyltetraphosphat, p-Nitropheni-1-diäthy lthiophosphat, Thanite (851/o Isobornylthiocyanoaeetat) o-Dichlor- benzol, Tetrachloräthan,

Smoke-generating mixture for pest control. The present invention relates. on smoking with pest control agents and, in particular, on the procurement of an improved mixture for the thermal production of mist-shaped pest control agents that are capable of evaporating when heated. The invention is particularly suitable for smoking with inflammable or easily decomposable anti-parasitic agents when overheated.
The majority of smoke-producing pesticides, in which a vaporizable pesticidal compound is present in combination with solid constituents, which the latter have the ability to enter into a self-sustaining, gas-evolving exothermic reaction with sufficient local support, contain a mixture of an organic, flammable substance with an inorganic oxidizing agent. There can be an ineffective component with these.
Components can be mixed or arranged separately in the smoke generator in such a way that it is carried along by the hot gases developed. It is important that the gas flow loaded with your pesticide is generated without the formation of flames, as this would destroy the latter. The fact that most of the mixtures of the type described above have a low biological effectiveness can be attributed to the excessively high reaction temperatures of their constituents.
They are also unable to maintain the reaction if they contain enough pesticides to reduce the temperature in the reaction zone to such an extent that it is below the decomposition temperature of the active component.
Much better results were obtained when using ammonium nitrate or guanidine nitrate in combination with one or more sensitizers for self-sustaining, flameless, exothermic gas evolution, for which certain chromates or biehromatics have proven suitable. Although the biological effect of such mixtures is great, they are hygroscopic and must therefore be packed in closed containers. The gases developed by them are also acidic, so that it is often undesirable to expose colored silk or artificial silk goods to such gas.
They are, however, well suited for disinfecting plants in greenhouses and for combating insects in other buildings, but a certain skill and caution are required when using them, as the gases have a ph3-aotoxic effect in excessive concentration. The gases of the guanidine nitrate-containing mixtures contain ammonia and are also phytotoxic in excessive concentration.
It is also known that smoke-evolving mixtures for pest control can be obtained from a mixture of a pest control agent which can be vaporized in the heat with ammonium bichromate alone or in combination with guanidine nitrate, as a component which is capable of producing a flameless, to cause exothermic, gas-evolving decomposition.
Neither ammonium dichromate nor guanidine nitrate are noticeably hygroscopic, but mixtures of these substances, when stored at temperatures a little above 35 ° C., begin to react with the formation of hygroscopic ammonium nitrate.
Although ammonium dichromate offers the advantage that the gases developed are almost neutral and practically non-phytotoxic, such agents are much less biologically effective than mixtures based on ammonium nitrate and guanidine nitrate, which are sensitized with a relatively small amount of a salt of chromic acid.
It is therefore desirable to produce a smoke-generating mixture for pest control, the practically neutral, non-phytotoxic gases with a biological effectiveness that is equal to that of known Pro products.
According to the present invention, the smoke-generating mixture for pest control, which contains at least one vaporizable pest control compound and ammonium unbending chromate, is characterized in that it also contains potassium persulfate.
The gases developed by such a mixture are very weakly acidic, but a small amount of guanidine nitrate can be added to them, whereby the gases can be made neutral or slightly alkaline without impairing their non-phytotoxic properties.
The smoke-generating mixtures according to the invention are not hygroscopic and have a high biological effect. They form a crumbly ash which only retains a small amount of the pesticide, and their reaction temperature is slightly lower than .that of the previously known smoke-generating mixtures, which contributes to a certain extent to their high biological effectiveness.
The weight ratio of potassium persulfate to ammonium dichromate in the mixture is preferably between? : 3 and 3:?. The weight ratio of guanidine nitrate to the total weight of the two first-mentioned components is advantageously not more than 1: -1, preferably 1:10, and the weight ratio of the vaporizable, pesticide-acting compound to the total amount of the three aforementioned components can be between 1: 100 and 3 : \ 'lie, depending on the character of this connection.
Suitable compounds effective as pest control agents are: azobenzene, hexachlorobenzene, a, a -bis - (p - ehlorpheny l) - ss, ss, pt.riehloräthan, hexaethyltetraphosphate, p-nitropheni-1-diethylthiophosphate, Thanite (851 / o Isobornylthiocyanoaeetat) o-dichlorobenzene, tetrachloroethane,
Dimethyl phthalate and tetraethyl pyrophosphate.
A cartridge made from a charge of the mixture and a case conveniently contains a small piece of fuse cord or matchstick or other ignition mixture in contact with the charge in order to ignite the same with an ordinary match, electric detonator or other means of ignition facilitate. The smoking charge can be compact, and the pulverulent mixture of the components can be subjected to a pressing solution to produce it. But you can also make the mixture compact with the help of a binder and transform it into the desired shape by pressing or deformation.
On the other hand, the mixture can only be easily compacted in a cartridge with a sleeve made of paper or other suitable material.
