Method for the internal molding of hollow bodies made of thermoplastic material, in particular glass, as well as device for carrying out the method. It is known to shape hollow bodies made of thermoplastic material, in particular glass tubes, because a core whose external shape corresponds to the inner shape of the hollow body to be achieved, for example a ground cylindrical rod, is introduced into the hollow body to be formed , whereupon the material of the Hohlkör pers is made plastically deformable by heating and pressed against the inserted core.
This pressing can also be done in a known manner by the pressure of a gaseous medium, for example the atmospheric air, in that the interior of the hollow body is emptied.
This seemingly simple procedure presents difficulties in implementation. When it comes to hollow bodies made of glass, the shaping can only take place at relatively moderately high temperatures when the material is glowing; Then the core, which is usually made of metal, is glowing in the hollow body, and a relatively good vacuum must prevail in the hollow body so that oxidation of the core can be avoided.
Up to now, such a vacuum could only be achieved if the hollow body to be formed was melted onto the vacuum line or connected to it by a rubber hose or the like.
Both possibilities are impractical and do not allow, or only with difficulty, that the hollow body can be removed from the furnace for observation purposes during the molding and can be put back into it afterwards. If, for example, you wanted to loosen the rubber hose, which must fit tightly and firmly, while the glass or the like is in a molten state, the inevitable vibrations could cause deformations of the hollow body, and it was even possible that the soft part of the hollow body from the rigid and protruding from the furnace - part dissolves.
The disadvantages described are eliminated by the present invention. The invention relates to a method for the internal molding of hollow bodies from thermoplastic material, in particular glass, and a device for performing this method.
The method according to the invention is also carried out using a heating device and a core against which the wall of the heated hollow body to be formed is pressed by the pressure of a gaseous medium by evacuating the interior of the hollow body by a suction pump, and is characterized by
that the hollow body to be formed is only connected to the latter under the influence of the suction effect of the pump. The suction opening of the hollow body to be shaped is preferably connected to a continuous AZS receptacle of a sealing washer and, with the hollow body hanging vertically downwards in the heating device, this nestles against a horizontal end face of a pipe socket connected to the suction pump,
so that the negative pressure prevailing in the pipe socket releasably holds the disk together with the hollow body and the core housed therein.
The device according to the invention for practicing this method has a heating device and a suction pump and is characterized by a pipe socket connected to the suction pump with a downwardly directed opening around which a horizontal end face runs, and by a sealing washer that can be placed against this end face a continuous exception,
to which the suction opening of the forming hollow body can be closed.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing. They show: FIG. 1 a part of a device for forming hollow bodies with a hollow body still to be formed in the processing position, in vertical section, and FIG. 2 the side view of an individual core.
The device has an electrically heatable 11Iuffelofen 14 which serves as a heating device for the hollow bodies to be formed. The furnace 10 is covered at the top by two stone slabs 11 around 12, which rest un indirectly against each other. Each plate is seen on the contact surface with a semi-cylindrical recess 13 and 14 ver. These recesses together form a cylindrical hole.
One stone slab 12 can be pulled away with the aid of a handle provided on it, so that the interior 15 of the furnace is accessible. A vertically extending pipe socket 16 which is open at the bottom and at the top is located vertically above the hole 13, 14. In this pipe clip 16 opens laterally a pipe 17 which is connected to a vacuum pump, not shown, in connection. The pipe socket 16 and part of the line 17 together form a T-shaped pipe section, which is held by means not shown.
The downwardly directed opening of the pipe socket 16 is surrounded by a flange 18 which has a horizontal end face 19 running around the opening. Is on the upward opening of the pipe socket 16. a dome 20 closed gas-tight by a rubber sleeve 21 over the pipe socket 16 and the dome is pushed ge. Appropriately there is. the dome 20 made of a transparent material, for example glass. The dome 22, which closes off the dome at the top, serves as a stop, which lies opposite the downwardly directed opening of the pipe socket, and whose bedding is described below.
Fer ner, the device has a core 23, the outer shape of which corresponds exactly to the inner shape of the hollow body to be generated, as well as a straight rod 24 and a sealing washer 25. The latter is formed by a body made of resilient material, for example rubber, and has a continuous recess, for example bore 26, in its center.
A hollow body to be shaped is denoted by 2'7 in FIG. 1. He is. for example a glass cylinder. The core 23 is first introduced into the cylinder 27, whereupon the upper end of the cylinder is melted onto a glass tube 28, which as a rule has a smaller diameter than the cylinder 2.7. In this way, the singing opening 29 of the hollow cylinder 27 with the pipe 28 is verbun. The body used as a sealing washer by 25 is then pushed over the upper end of the tube 28.
The rod 24 is pushed through the tube 28 and the suction opening 29 until the lower end of the rod is seated on the core 23.
To introduce the hollow cylinder 27 to be shaped into the interior 15 of the furnace 10, the stone slab 12 is pulled away. When the pipe '28 is in the recess 13 be, one pushes the stone plate 12 back to the other plate 11 so that the pipe 28 now penetrates the hole 13, 14. The rubber body 25 is then clung to the horizontal end face 19 of the pipe socket 16 from below. The negative pressure generated by the pump in the pipe socket 16 holds the body 25 together with the hollow cylinder 27 and the core on the pipe socket. The hollow body 27 is thus suspended solely by the suction of the vacuum pump.
The body 25 is pushed on the pipe 28 in such a position that the upper end of the rod 24 just touches the stop 22 when the body 25 rests on the end face 19 of the pipe socket.
When the material of the hollow cylinder 27 softens in the furnace 10 as a result of heating, the pressure of the atmosphere presses the wall of the hollow cylinder tightly against the core 23. The rod 24 prevents the part of the hollow cylinder 27 above the core 23 from being completely pinched off by the air pump can be. Furthermore, the rod 24 makes it impossible for the core 2'3 to rise, which would otherwise be possible under the influence of the external pressure, the closed bottom 30 of the hollow cylinder being inverted.
If you want to control the progress of the molding and for this purpose remove the hollow cylinder 27 from the furnace, you first pull the stone slab 12 away and then remove the rubber body 25 from the end face 19. This can easily be done by a slight deformation of the body 25 , with air flowing into the pipe nozzle 16 and the suction of the pump is canceled. Instead of pulling off the body 25, the vacuum can also be canceled by a special, not shown, air inlet tap.
If the molding has not progressed sufficiently, the hollow cylinder 27 is reinserted into the furnace in the aforementioned manner and connected to the VaktiumpLunpe by pressing the body 25 against the pipe socket 16. When the molding is finished, the hollow body is allowed to cool and solidify. Finally, the shaped hollow body is cut open below the suction opening 29 and the core is removed from the hollow body.
Of course, the core does not have to have the shape shown in every case. According to FIG. 2, it can, for example, have a conical projection 31 on its lower end face, which creates a complementary base when the hollow body is formed. However, the core could also be completely conical or have a non-circular cross-section.
If the hollow body to be formed does not have a large diameter, the tube 28 can be dispensed with by simply leading the upper part of the flea body out of your furnace and directly with the sealing washer 25.
The method described and the associated device allow an efficient production of hollow bodies while strictly adhering to the prescribed internal dimensions, they also allow good control of the work process and enable the scrap number to be reduced to a minimum.
Instead of glass, the Hohlkör can optionally consist of other thermoplastic material.
