Description
Wellengelenk.
Universal joint. The invention relates to a universal joint as it is, for. B. is used for the front wheel drive of motor vehicles. Two universal joints are required for this in order to achieve the necessary uniformity in the transmission of movement. The formation as two universal joints with a shaft piece connected between them is not possible because the space requirement would be too large in this case.
In addition, shaft centering is difficult because of this. Purposes special centering parts through the hollow. Crosses would have to be passed through. In a known universal joint, the universal joints are connected by tabs. But here too, shaft centering requires special centering parts.
These disadvantages should be eliminated by the inven tion. The universal joint according to the invention is characterized in that the two cross joints connected in series are connected by a ring; whereby the shaft ends protrude into the ring and lead each other through a ball in a hollow cylinder in such a way that the axis intersection of the two shafts with respect to one of the shafts always remains the same. To enable central lubrication, a lubrication head can be provided on the ring or on one of the two shaft ends, which is -ver connected through lubrication channels with all Ge pivot pin bearings and the ball guide.
The invention enables an extremely compact design which allows installation in vehicles with very limited space. Furthermore, an almost complete waterproofing device of all bearings can be achieved.
In the drawing, an execution example of the invention is shown. 1 shows a section through the joint in one pin plane, FIG. 2 shows a section through the joint in the pin plane perpendicular thereto, and FIG. 3 shows a section perpendicular to the shaft direction.
The universal joint has a ring 1 on which the two journal crosses 2, 3 are rotatably arranged on both sides. The fists 6, 7 of the input and output shafts 8, 9 are guided through the recesses 4, 5 of the journal crosses 2, 3, the journals 10, 11 of which rest in the bearings 12, 13 of the associated journal crosses 2, 3. Inside the ring 1, the ball 14 is mounted at the end of the drive shaft 8 in a guide hollow cylinder 15 at the end of the output shaft 9.
The lubricating head 16 on the ring 1 or on the shaft 9 is used for central lubrication of all bearing points of the joint via the channels k.
