Pump unit with a pump driven by an electric motor, in particular for pumping fuel in aircraft. lin main patent No. 293230 describes a rotary pump assembled with an electric motor, in particular for pumping fuel in aircraft,
wherein the motor and at least the greater part of the pump are housed in the fuel tank and are normally immersed in the fuel. According to the patent claim of the main patent, this combination of motor and pump is characterized by a gear connected between motor and pump impeller.
In an example described in the main patent, the unit is attached to a cover plate which now closes an opening of the fuel tank and can be removed from the tank together with it and taken out through the opening. According to the present invention, an assembly arranged in the fuel tank and fastened to a cover plate closing an opening in this is characterized by:
that the pump axis is at least approximately parallel and the motor axis at least approximately perpendicular to the cover plate as is the pump between the motor and cover plate and the unit is at least partially supported by the latter due to the attachment of the pump to the cover plate.
In a preferred example, the motor hub intersects the impeller hub. An exemplary embodiment is shown in the drawing, namely: FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the unit and FIG. 2 shows the outline of the same.
The axis of the motor 200 is horizontal and the axis 201 of the pin is vertical and parallel to the fastening flange 202. In order to relieve the wall of the fuel tank and the fastening means of the unit on this wall, means are provided to support the overhanging end of the motor independently of the fastening flange 202. A bell-shaped hood 203 surrounds the motor 200 and has a flange 204 at the free inner end which is connected to the pump flange 205 by bolts.
The hood 203 also has stiffening ribs 206 and at its outer end a thickened, cambered part 207 located on the motor axis, which forms a neck.
In the tank, a vertical web 208 parallel to the tank wall (not shown) is provided, on the outside of which the cover plate 209 is attached, the cover plate being arranged over an opening in the tank wall through which the pump and the motor are removed from the tank can. A resilient mount 210 for the neck 207 is attached to the side of the web 208 opposite the tank wall 209. The edge of the receiving opening of the barrel 210 is bent outwards, and the socket is axially slotted since it can be expanded resiliently with it.
When installing the unit in the tank, the neck 207 is inserted into the socket 210 and pushed in, whereupon the A = unit is finally fixed by screwing the Deekplatte 209 to the tank (not shown.). When removing the unit from the tank, the Deekplatte is removed from the tank and the unit is at right angles to the plane of the cover plate, d. H. extended in the motor axis direction, the neck being pulled out of its socket in which it is seated with a pressure fit.
The mounting of the unit in the tank with a medium neck and barrel length withstands the loads that occur during skill maneuvers carried out at high speed.
Instead of supporting the unit at the engine outer end opposite the tank, as in the example above, this can also be done between its two ends, e.g. B. happen at the two flanges 204, 205. Furthermore, the neck 207 could be provided on the web 208 and its socket 210 on the engine hood 203.
