Device for increasing the take-off thrust of turbo-jet engines, in particular for propelling aircraft. The invention also relates to a device for increasing the take-off thrust of turbo-jet engines. a compressor driven by a turbine, the fuel gases being mixed with compressed air before they are expanded.
The known jet engines for lift vehicles allow a temporary increase in the thrust during take-off and for acceleration during flight by increasing the effective gas weight or by increasing the exit speed of the effective working gas. The simpler method is to increase the exit speed.
For this purpose, a special close-up combustion is carried out, which only takes effect during the time of the increase in thrust, in that the speed of these working gases is increased by additional heating of the working gases. The disadvantage of such a device is that the resources provided for the additional combustion, such as ignition devices, conveying devices, etc.
for the fuel to be injected during the much larger period of operation of the jet engine can not be used and significantly increase the weight of the jet engine, which is unfavorable in flight operations. According to the invention, the increase in the take-off thrust of such turbo-jet engines, in which the combustion gases are mixed with compressed air before they are expanded, and the stated disadvantages of the known jet engines are avoided.
According to the invention, to briefly increase the thrust, the amount of fuel introduced into the combustion chamber of the engine is increased and, at the same time, cooling liquid, preferably water,
introduced in the atomized state into the hot combustion gases before they are relaxed and before they are disintegrated with the pressure hatch which reduces the temperature. The amount of coolant introduced is expediently made dependent on the additional amount of fuel introduced,
so that the application temperature of the propellant gases caused by the strength of the blade building material is not exceeded.
For example, the control element used for the adjustable setting of the amount of fuel can be brought into operative connection with the control element used for the adjustable setting of the amount of cooling liquid, where cooling liquid is supplied with a fuel amount determined by the greatest continuous output and with a further increase in the amount of fuel .
The device according to the invention has the advantage over the known devices that the increase in thrust occurs both by increasing the speed and the weight of the working gases, with no additional combustion chambers, no additional fuel delivery devices and no additional ignition devices. directions are required. The thrust increase of such an engine can therefore take place quickly and safely without its weight being increased.
In the drawing, an example embodiment of the subject invention is shown.
They show: Fig.1. a central longitudinal section through a jet engine with a compressor driven by turbine and FIG. 2 the control element serving for the adjustable setting of the fuel quantity and the cooling liquid quantity in a different position.
According to Fig.l the rotor 22 of the axially durchström th compressor 2 and the rotor 23 of the tur bine 3 are attached to a common shaft 1. The shaft 1 is supported at 4 and 5. Between the compressor 2 iuid of the turbine 3, the combustion chambers 6 are net angeord. Part of the air flowing from the compressor 2 against the turbine 3 washes around the combustion chamber 6 and is mixed with the hot fuel gases in the area of the common exit 7, thereby setting the temperature of the fuel gases to a level due to the construction of the turbine blades.
The combustion opens into the combustion chamber 6 on the one hand in the area of the inlet; material supply nozzle 8, in the area of the outlet on the other hand the nozzle 9 for supplying the cooling liquid, e.g. B. water. The line 11 leading from the injection nozzle 8 to the pump 10 leads via a slide 12 which controls the amount of fuel.
The control slide 12 is also used to measure the amount of coolant supplied by the pump 13 via the line 14 of the injection nozzle 9. The part 20 of the control slide 12 is verbun via a linkage 1.5 with a hand lever 16, which is arranged pivotably about a point 17 and holds the control slide 12 in different positions.
In the position of the control slide 12 shown in Fig.l, fuel can flow from the pump 10 via the line 11 through the opening 1.8, which partially exposes the cross section of the line 11, to the injection nozzle 8, while the coolant line 14 is completed by the slide 12 is. This stel development of the slide 12 corresponds to the position of normal operation (continuous operation).
According to Fig. 2, the slide 12 has been moved by pivoting the hand lever 16 in the direction of arrow 21 in such a position that on the one hand the entire cross section of the fuel line 11 is released through the recess 18 of the slide 12 and on the other hand also the entire cross section of the Cooling liquid feed line 14 is opened through the recess 19 of the slide 12.
The greatest possible amount of fuel therefore flows through line 11 and the greatest possible amount of cooling liquid flows through line 14 of the combustion chamber zii. This position corresponds to. the greatest possible thrust of the jet engine. If only the amount of fuel were fed to the combustion chamber, then the temperature of the gases acting on the turbine would be so high that the blades of the turbine 3 would be destroyed.
The amount of coolant flowing through line 14 is. dimensioned in such a way that the coolant introduced into the hot combustion chambers in an atomized state reduces the temperature to the level required for continuous operation without injection, so that after mixing with the intended cooling air, the temperature at which the turbine blades are exposed is not significant compared to continuous operation is changed.
