Recoil drive for vehicles, in particular aircraft. The invention relates to a recoil drive for vehicles, in particular aircraft, in which air sucked in from the environment is compressed in order to subsequently flow into the environment through at least one nozzle.
In a known recoil drive of this type, the entire amount of air which is sucked in flows through both a turbo fan and a turbine. In order to obtain a good thermal efficiency for the drive, it is known that the pressure ratio of the fan must be selected to be large. However, this has the consequence that the speed of the gases flowing out of the discharge nozzle is high and the degree of jet efficiency is consequently poor.
On the other hand, if you want to work with a good radiation efficiency, this can only be achieved at the expense of the thermal efficiency of the drive. However, since its overall efficiency is known to be equal to the product of thermal efficiency and radiation efficiency, this product has so far remained significantly below the value that should theoretically be achieved.
Furthermore, a recoil drive is known in which a large amount of airflow tending into a nozzle body is detected by a Ver denser and after compression is divided into two partial flows, one of which exits through a nozzle and the other is further compressed in another compressor. According to one proposal, this second partial flow, after it has been made combustible by introducing fuel and converted into a propellant mixture, is expanded in a turbine which drives the second compressor mentioned.
The exhaust gases from this turbine pass into an exhaust turbine, which drives the compressor, which records the amount of wind flowing in, in order to finally combine with the other partial flow to form the propulsion jet. According to another proposal, the second partial flow, after it has been brought to a higher pressure, is in turn divided, with one of these parts being sucked in by a new piston engine which drives the compressor which compresses the second partial flow, and the other part as a propellant for an exhaust gas turbine, which drives the compressor that detects the amount of airflow, and into which the exhaust gases from that engine also reach.
The exhaust gases from this exhaust gas turbine emit their residual energy in an exhaust nozzle. These proposals have the disadvantage that two turbines BEZW to drive the two existing compressors. a turbine and an internal combustion engine are seen before. This not only means additional weight, but also requires a more complex and space-consuming system, since additional channels, lines and often also gears are switched on.
In order to remedy the disadvantages mentioned and at the same time obtain a recoil drive that works with good overall efficiency, the recoil drive according to the invention is characterized in that part of the amount of air drawn in is heated after compression and expands here in a turbine, which the power both to compress this amount of air as well as to compress the rest of the total sucked air volume, bypassing the turbine in the environment outflowing part.
Especially for aircraft, where the low weight and simple structure of the engine are of great importance, such a recoil drive offers particular advantages, since only one turbine is provided, which delivers the entire shaft power of the system. This not only enables a simpler and lighter construction, but the axial passage speed can be increased, since part of the air is diverted in front of the turbine: This, however, makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of the recoil drive.
On the accompanying drawings, ver different embodiments of the subject invention are illustrated in a simplified representation, namely: Fig. 1 shows an axial longitudinal section through a recoil drive, in which a turbine bypassing partial flow of heat is supplied at a practically constant volume, Fig. 2 a axial longitudinal section through an embodiment in which a partial flow bypassing the turbine is heated by the exhaust gases from the turbine, and FIG. 3 is a longitudinal section through a recoil drive,
at which the partial flow passing through the turbine in this on the pressure. the environment expands and the exhaust gases then flow through a heat exchanger, in which they give off heat to the other partial flow.
In Fig. 1, 1 denotes the air inlet duct of a recoil drive for a flight that moves in the direction of arrow A. Furthermore, 2 denotes the low pressure and 3 the multi-stage high pressure part of a turbo blower. When flying, the air flows to this fan through duct 1, which is designed as a diffuser, so that part of the kinetic energy of the air is converted into pressure and the lower pressure part of the fan is flowed through at reduced speed, with a slight further compression taking place. Then this air flow is with.
With the help of at least one adjustable flap 4, divided into two partial flows, namely into a smaller, inner partial flow and a larger, outer partial flow. The smaller partial flow is compressed again in the high-pressure housing part 3, namely to the pressure desired at the inlet into a turbine 5. Between the high-pressure fan part 3 and the turbine S, heat is supplied to this partial flow in a combustion chamber 6 at a practically constant pressure in that fuel is injected into the same through devices 6 'and the mixture is then burned in the chamber 6.
The propellant gases thus generated expand in the turbine 5 to the pressure of the environment into which they flow out through a nozzle 13. The amount of air passing through the high pressure part 3 of the fan and the turbine "o" is dimensioned so that the turbine 5 has the power to compress the amount of air intended for this turbine as well as to compress the rest of the air, bypassing the Turbine 5 emits part of the total amount of air that is drawn in and discharges into the environment.
After a relatively weak compression in the low-pressure part 2, this larger part of the amount of air sucked in through the duct 1 passes as an outer, annular partial flow through check valves 7 into a combustion chamber B, which is not shown, and is divided into a number of partial chambers injected fuel through devices 8 '. The air-fuel mixtures that form in the various sub-chambers are burned at different times.
The air is heated in these sub-chambers 8 \ at a practically constant volume, the pressure increasing proportionally to the temperature reached. The exit of the propellant gases from the sub-chambers of the combustion chamber 8 is controlled by valves 9, which are pressed against their seat by compression springs 10 until the pressure in the associated sub-chamber exceeds a predetermined value. As soon as this is the case, the gases pass from the relevant part into a subsequent nozzle 11, in which the gas pressure is set to a high speed.
The various nozzles 11 open into a common annular collector 12, through which the consequences of the shock-wise outflow of the gases from the sub-chambers of the combustion chamber 8 are balanced and, related to this, better flow conditions for the subsequent outflow of the annular jet into the environment are created . A discharge nozzle 14, which opens into the surroundings, connects to the collector 12. The various parts described are surrounded by a jacket 15 which is designed to be fluidically favorable.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 2 differs from the one shown in FIG. 1 primarily in that the partial flow further compressed in the high-pressure part 17 of the turbo blower in the turbine -18 does not affect the pressure of the environment, but only apart from the low-pressure part after the blower 16 prevailing pressure is relaxed by the exhaust gases from the turbine 18 are fed back through an annular channel 19 to a point 20, where they mix with the flow of heat at constant pressure,
which is only passed through the low pressure part 16 of the turbo blower and the turbine 18 bypasses. So there is the heating of the low pressure partial flow by the exhaust gases of the turbine 18. Since such heating may not be sufficient, the sem partial flow can be supplied with the help of devices 21 additional fuel.
In Fig. 3, finally, an embodiment is shown in which the waste heat of the propellant gases expanded in a turbine 22 is released indirectly with the aid of a heat exchanger 23 to the part of the current bypassing the turbine 22, d. H. to the part of the current that has only passed through the low pressure part 24, but not also through the high pressure part 25 of a turbo blower. This type of construction offers the advantage that the gases in the turbine 22 can be expanded down to the pressure of the environment.
In the partial flow generating the propulsive power, additional fuel can be injected through devices 26.
Also in the embodiments according to FIGS. 2 and 3, the turbine 18 respectively. 22 the power both for compressing the amount of air flowing through it and for compressing the remaining part of the total amount of air drawn in, d. H. of the turbine 18 respectively. 22 immediate partial flow.
In the case of the recoil drives described, by injecting additional fuel into the partial current generating the propulsive power and bypassing the turbine, the exit speed of the jet and thus the propulsive power can be increased above the normal value, but with a simultaneous loss of efficiency. This possibility of strong overload capacity allows the recoil drives described to be underdimensioned and thus to achieve a weight saving that is particularly desirable for aircraft.
The types of construction described also offer the advantage that the speed of the turbine and turbo fan can be regulated in a simple manner that, with the help of adjustable regulating flaps, the weight proportion of air flowing through these machines in relation to that of the partial flow, which is used to generate the propulsive power , will be changed. By setting the regulating flaps accordingly, increased power can be generated in the turbine and thus overloading of the recoil drive can be achieved. In terms of the ejected jet, there is then a greater exit speed because of the higher pressure; in return, however, a poorer beam efficiency has to be accepted.
In order to adapt to the different flight speeds, it is expedient to make at least the blades of the low-pressure fan part, which usually has one or at most only a few steps, adjustable.
