Description
Rubber cushion. The rubber cushion which is the subject of the present invention consists of a set of walls arranged perpendicular to the main plane of the cushion and which can be folded so as to delimit cells of a honeycomb structure; this cushion is characterized by the fact that it consists only of all the walls, the latter being dimensioned so that the ratio between their thickness and their height is between 1:10 and 1:50 and that the ratio between their thickness and the width of a cell is. com taken between 1: 5 and 1:20.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, the volume of the cushion is. at least equal to three times the total volume of the cell walls.
In another embodiment, the height of the walls of a cell is greater than the width of said walls, in order to increase the flexibility of the cushion.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, four embodiments of the object of the invention. In this drawing Fig. 1 is a perspective illustration of the cushion according to a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding illustration of part of a cushion according to a second embodiment.
Figs. 3 and 4 are plan views of parts of a cushion according to two other embodiments. Fig. 5 shows a pressure-strain curve relating to one of the cushions described below.
The rubber cushion shown in fig. 1 is composed of juxtaposed prismatic cells 1, separated from each other by common walls 2. The dimensions of the cell walls are. such that the ratio of their thickness to their height is between 1:10 and 1:50, and the ratio of their thickness to the width of a cell is between 1: 5 and 1:20.
The cells, depending on the use for which the neck sin is intended, may be open at one end or at both ends.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the lower part of cells 1 is subdivided into secondary cells by means of intermediate walls 3.
In the embodiments shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the cells have. in plan a hexagonal respectively triangular shape.
Fig. 5 represents an empirical graph, in which the pressure acting on the cushion measured in gicm2 has been plotted on the ordinate, and on the cushion deformation abscissa measured in mm.
It emerges from this curve that the pressure exerted on the cushion first increases at the same time as the deformation up to point 4 of the curve, point corresponding to the values 400,115. Between points 4 and 5 of the curve, the pressure is substantially constant, even if the deformation, that is to say the crushing of the cushion increases. This means that beyond this point, the pressure applied to the cushion, consequently the pressure exerted by the cushion on the organs, for example the human posterior parts, resting on it, will be constant, whether said parts sink deeply or not. in the sin neck.
