Description

Process for preparing a mastic, and mastic obtained by this process. The present invention relates to. a process for preparing a mastic, in which two products are used which are immediately mixed before use and the first of which constitutes the adhesive. and contains at least one carbonate and one drying oil, while the second is a drying paste.
It is known to use, for the. forming a mastic, a mixture of two compositions, one of which constitutes the adhesive, while the other is a drying paste. However, nielans of this kind used heretofore are not satisfactorily suitable for adhering to metal walls.
A particular aim of the present invention is. to remedy this drawback.
For this purpose, according to the process according to the invention, the aforementioned drying paste is obtained by mixing an oxide of slow polyvah metal, aluminum silicates, water and a catalyst for the curing formed at least partly of an iron oxide.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the process according to the invention, an iron oxide is mixed with the adhesive.
A subject of the present invention is also the mastic obtained by the process according to the invention.
The adhesive may consist of a mixture of chalk or other carbonates, such as those of magnesium, strontium, barium, in proportions by weight of 79 to. 89%, drying oils, in proportions of 10 to 20%, and iron oxides, in proportions of 0.5 to 30%.
The drying paste may contain, mixed, 60 to 70% oxide of a polyvalent metal (bi, tri ... ) other than iron and chromium, 10 to 15% of silicates of 'aluminum, 7 to 13% water,
5 10% iron oxides and 7 to 15% chromium compounds (oxides or salts), iron oxides and chromium salts constituting the curing catalyst which, in additionally, may optionally include a charge.
The setting is effected by the accelerated hardening of the drying oils under the action of polyvalent metal oxides and oxygen in the air. In addition, the presence of silicates and iron oxide causes great adhesion of the mastic to metal structures.
It is not strictly necessary for the adhesive to contain iron oxide, the proportion of iron oxide in the drying paste being able to be chosen to take account of the possible absence of iron oxide in the drying paste. hesive ad; however, the presence of iron oxide in the adhesive gives it a special shine which allows it to be easily identified.
Immediately before using the mastic, the two products are mixed, for example, in proportions of 10 parts of the adhesive to one part of the drying paste. By its composition, mastic. obtained can be applied with a very easy tack on the required places.
