Zahnsteinentferner.
Scaler.
Tartar has been removed by dentists with hand instruments of various shapes. However, this tartar removal has numerous shortcomings: The work is extremely laborious and time-consuming, it is painful and yet inadequate because it is very difficult to remove the areas under the gums with it. The tartar is either pulled off with the hand instruments by pulling or pushed off by pushing. Depending on the hardness of the tartar, the impacts cannot be precisely measured and the gums can be injured even with a practiced hand.
The present invention now relates to a scaler which is characterized by a mechanically driven, axially reciprocating scraper.
This remover expediently has the forum veines a handpiece or angle piece that can be attached to the drive machine for the drilling machine. The scraper can advantageously be used both as a pushing and pulling or. be designed as a pull-push instrument. Afterwards, the hardening object is explained in more detail, for example, using the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a tartar remover in the form of an elbow.
2, 3 and 4 show different embodiments of the scraper, which has the size of the normal dental drill.
The elbow (Fig. 1) consists of three parts firmly screwed together: the handle 1, the connecting piece 2 and the head 3. A shaft 4 rotatably mounted in the handle 1 about its axis is rigidly connected to the camshaft 5 by a pin 6. A piston 8 is fitted into the bore 7 of the head 3. This piston 8 has a bore 9 for the scraper 10, a hole 11 for the retaining ball 12 and a groove 13 for the cam 14 of the camshaft 5.
Below the piston 8, between it and the pierced end screw 16, a spiral spring 15 is clamped, which pushes the piston 8 upwards. On the side of the piston 8 opposite the camshaft 5 there is a screw 20; inside it contains a spiral spring 18 which resiliently presses the protective cap 19 against the retaining ball 12.
The scraper 10 has four depressions 17 at the same height at its upper end.
If the shaft 4 and with it the Nok kenwelle 5 rotated by the drive mechanism of the dental drill, the cam 14 pushes the piston 8 down once for each revolution. The retaining ball 12, which is pressed by the spring 18 into a recess 17 of the scraper 10, connects the piston and the scraper, so that the reciprocating movement of the piston is transmitted to the scraper and the scraper executes an axial reciprocating movement.
Thanks to this fastening device, the scraper can be pulled out by hand and reinserted without falling out during operation. Since there are four different recesses 17, the scraper can be fixed in four different positions.
The scaler can be designed not only as an angle piece, but also as a handpiece.
The scraper can be designed as a pushing instrument 10 (FIGS. 1 and 2), or as a pushing and pulling instrument (FIG. 3) or as a pulling instrument (FIG. 4). Due to the rapid and regular movement of the scraper, which can be regulated as required in large areas by the number of revolutions of the motor and the type of transmission mechanism, the tartar is removed very quickly and properly. No residues remain, the tooth neck is polished directly. It is convenient to let the instrument slide along the tooth without pressure and without causing the patient any sensations.
The penetration into the zalin meat pocket can be dosed precisely and reliably and the tartar can be removed down to the bottom of the pocket.
