Circuit arrangement for through traffic in teleprinter systems with dialer operation. In telex systems with dialer operation, a special number had to be dialed for each intermediate office in through traffic, which required the transmission of dialing digits with different numbers of digits when several offices were connected in series. In addition, the directional connecting lines required between the individual offices in such a system structure cannot be fully utilized.
In order to avoid these disadvantages, non-directional connecting lines have been used in telephone networks for a long time between the individual offices, which are provided with so-called switches, which are influenced in different ways according to the respective marked traffic direction and the incoming end of the line toggle the corresponding output. To control these points, alternating current pulses of different frequencies are used. However, this type of switch control cannot be used for teleprinting systems, as only a narrow frequency band is available in these systems for the transmission of control pulses via the telegraph lines.
The present invention relates to a circuit arrangement for through traffic in teleprinter systems with dialer operation. It is characterized in that switches assigned to the incoming end of connecting lines in the intermediate offices are controlled by pulse combinations sent over the incoming line in accordance with the respectively desired traffic direction.
Since, as a rule, the number of different positions that a switch should assume is not very large, two combination elements will generally be sufficient. In this case, four different directions can be selected using a switch. The transmitting devices to be arranged at the outgoing end of the line can consist of simple transmitters, similar to those of the known teletypewriters, each of which transmits only a certain combination of pulses. However, it is also possible to get by with a single transmitting device consisting of a relay chain operating with normal switching relays, which generates the respectively required pulse combination.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. As an exemplary embodiment, an arrangement of the last-mentioned type for selecting four different traffic directions is illustrated in the drawing. However, there are only the relays and circuits required to transmit the pulse combination at the outgoing end and the receiving and evaluation devices at the incoming end

a connecting line labeled L between two offices A and B.
The connection line L is occupied in office A via a group selector GW, of which only one contact set swept by the switching arm a and the test arm c with the associated contact set are shown. It is assumed that, depending on the setting of the group selector GW, four traffic directions corresponding to the codes 2, 3, 4 and 5 can be reached via the line L. Depending on the pulse combination assigned to each code number, four different directions, denoted by 2, 3, 4 and 5, are selected in the transit office B.
The relays K and M, whose windings are switched on in the occupancy circuits via the test switch arm c of the group selector GW, are used to form the pulse combination required in each case. Either relay K or relay M or both relays are energized, depending on which decade of the group selector the line transmission was occupied. In addition, when the line is occupied, a relay chain consisting of the clock relays An2, S and R is started up.
The switching processes when the line transmission is occupied take place in the following way.If the line is occupied from the group selector over decade 3, the following circuit is established: earth on switching arm c, identification contact of the third decade, winding I of relay h, contact cl, winding 1 of relay C, battery, earth.
The relays K and C respond, of which the latter brings the relay An 1 to respond with its contact e3, which received fault current in the idle state via the high-resistance winding of the relay An 2. At the same time the winding of the relay An 2, which has a long delayed release, is short-circuited. During the response time of the relay Ani, which is around 20 ms, an occupancy pulse in the form of an isolating current pulse (-E-) is given via line L.
This is due to the fact that in the idle state with the battery switched on via the resistor W 2 at the negative pole of the telegraph battery TB when the contact c 2 closes until the relay An 1 responds via the contact 1 to 1 and switching arm a placed on + TB. becomes. The seizure pulse (-f-) generated by switching the contact sr brings the receiving relay ER in the office B at the incoming end of the line L into the separating position, which with its contact he cancels the short circuit for the winding I of the relay H, so that this relay responds.
If the relay An 1 is triggered in the transmitter at the outgoing end of the line, the contact 1 at 1 opens the circuit described above, which kept the transmitter relay SR in the separating position, whereupon the contact of this relay takes the character position again. This first character current pulse (-), which corresponds to the start pulse of the teletypewriter, lasts until the relay S, whose circuit at contact 2 at 1 was interrupted when relay An 1 was triggered, drops out. Since the relay h responded when the line was occupied via decade 3 of the GW and opened its contact k1, no connection between the transmitter relay SR and -TB can be established when contact s1 is closed.
So the character stream (-) is still given in the line L. After about 30 ms, relay R also drops out and closes its contact r 2. The relay M was not energized when it was engaged, so that its contact ml remains closed. When the relay R drops out, the transmitter relay SR is therefore connected to + T B via contact r 2. The separating current (-I-) caused by this in line L lasts until the heavily delayed relay An 'also falls, which by closing its contact an2 establishes the connection between the transmitter relay SR and the - {- pole of the telegraph battery TB finally closes. This fourth pulse corresponds to the locking step.
Its duration is irrelevant because no further impulses follow. The transmitting device was therefore busy with the line
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Over the 3rd decade of the group selector GW a pulse train - - -f- -f- is given over the line L to the receiving relay ER in the transit office.
The relay H, which was made to respond when the occupancy pulse was received, had its contact h 3 closed, so that when the first pulse arrived, the relay A would respond via its winding I. The relay .A has two windings I and II which add up when receiving -impulses, while they cancel each other out when receiving + impulses. When the first -pulse arrives, relay A will respond and hold itself to -TB via its contact a1. The contact a2 opens a closed circuit for the delay relays F and D. Of these, relay F first drops out after about 24 ms. The moment of this fall occurs exactly in the middle of the second combination pulse.
Depending on whether at this moment the contact he of the receiving relay ER is on -f- or -TB, the capacitor C 1 is charged or not, since its one assignment via the contact f 1 with the contact he and the other assignment via the Contact f 2 is connected to -TB. If the capacitor C 1 is charged, it discharges when relay F drops out via its contacts f 1 and f 2 and via winding I of relay B. This relay responds and with its contact b 1 closes a holding circuit for its winding II If the contact was at the moment when relay F dropped in connection with the -Pole of the telegraph battery, then capacitor C1 is not charged and relay B does not respond.
The same process is repeated when the relay D drops, which occurs in the middle of the third combination pulse. If the capacitor C 2 is charged via the contacts d 1 and d 2, when the relay D drops, the relay E responds and persists. its winding II and contact e 1. If the capacitor C2 was not charged when the relay D dropped out, the relay E remains in the dropped-out state. Depending on the received pulse combination, the contacts b 2, e 2 and e 3 of the switch relays B and E, which are in a pyramid circuit, assume a certain position and thus determine the direction which is to be connected to the contact of the receiving relay ER.
With the considered pulse combination - + + for direction 3, only relay E is addressed, while relay B remains in the rest position. The final connection of the contact he to the line of the desired direction takes place when the relay W responds via its contact w 1. The relay W is switched on when the relay D drops out via its contact d 3 and speaks to a certain one through which its winding is parallel connected capacitor C 3 and the upstream resistor Wi conditional delay time.
The relay H set on its first response via its contact h 2. establishes a short-circuit circuit for its winding HII and therefore remains addressed for the duration of the brief short-circuit of its winding I during the signaling of the contact. He had also switched on relay G, which has a long drop-off delay, via contact h 1, whose contact g 1 bridges contact h 3 and maintains the holding circuits for relays A, B and E. Only with a longer stream of characters does the relay H 1 remain short-circuited long enough for the relay G to drop out.
The pulse train sent by the transmitter in office A when the line is seized over decade 2 consists of the pulses - + + +, since neither relay g nor relay 111 is energized in the seizure circuit via switch arm c. If the group selector G W is assigned for more than the fourth decade, the relay 1V1 responds, so that the transmitted pulse train is - + - +.
If the group selector G W checks the line transmission over the fifth decade, both relays K and 1V1 are made to respond via their windings II and cause the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Transmission of the pulse train --- +. The individual processes involved in the 'transmission of these pulse trains do not need to be described in detail, as they result from the actuation of the transmitter relay SR depending on the switching times of the relay contacts S, R and An 2 and the respective position of the identification relay K and 37 results.
As already stated above, instead of the common relay arrangement generating the pulse combinations at the outgoing end of the line, small telegraph transmitters of the type used in the known teletyping machines could also be used for each traffic direction characterized by a specific pulse combination. In this case, the transmitter required to identify a specific traffic direction can be switched on in the same way as in the exemplary embodiment described by means of the identification relays K and M.
With a correspondingly greater effort, more than four different traffic directions could be marked. The pulse combinations would then have to consist of more than four individual pulses.
