Siège, notamment chaise pliante, pourvu d'un écran protecteur contre les rayons solaires. 11 existe déjà dans le commerce des chaises pliantes dites transatlantiques qui, pour pro téger contre les rayons de soleil les personnes y ayant pris place, sont. munies de toutes sortes de dispositifs allant d'un simple toit en toile de tente fixé à demeure, jusqu'à un écran protecteur articulé et pivotant, en passant par des stores enroulables assujettis généralement. au haut du dossier. Tous ces dispositifs, pour autant qu'ils soient orientables, ne le sont que dans un seul plan et., pour cette raison, n'attei gnent qu'imparfaitement le but recherché.
L'invention a pour objet un siège, notam ment une chaise pliante, pourvu d'un écran protecteur contre les rayons solaires, ce siège étant caractérisé en ce que ledit écran est sup porté par au moins une tige qui est raccordée au siège, d'une part, et à l'écran protecteur d'autre part, par l'intermédiaire d'articula tions à rotules. La tige de support pourrait. être extensible en longueur et les articulations à rotules pourraient être munies de moyens de serrage leur permettant de conserver toute position réglée par l'usager.
i Grâce à cet agencement, la position de l'écran protecteur pourra être adaptée à la direction des rayons lumineux.
Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exem ple, une forme d'exécution du siège pourvu r d'un écran protecteur, objet de l'invention, cette forme d'exécution étant une chaise pliante.
La fig. 1 en est une vue cri perspective. Les fig. 2 à 5 font voir quelques détails de construction.
Dans la fig. 1, un écran protecteur 1 com porte la. partie femelle 2 d'une articulation à rotule. La partie mâle de cette articulation se trouve à. l'extrémité d'une tige 3, de préfé rence extensible, qui assujettit l'écran 7. à la chaise 4. La fixation de la tige à la chaise s'opère de façon similaire par une articulation à rotule, la partie femelle étant fixée à la chaise, la partie mâle se trouvant sur la tige.
Les fig. 2 et 3 représentent deux vues à 90 l'une de l'autre de l'articulation à rotule reliant la tige à la chaise. La partie femelle se compose de deux joues 6 en tôle emboutie fixées à l'ossature de la chaise 4 et munies à leurs extrémités libres de creux sphériques, embrassant une rotule 7. Celle-ci comporte un appendice 8 pour sa fixation à la, tige 3. Un boulon 9 avec écrou à ailettes passe à travers les deux joues 6 et permet de faire varier le serrage de la rotule. Ce serrage sera réglé avantageusement de façon que la. tige 3 aussi bien que l'écran protecteur 1 puissent être amenés dans toutes les posi tions voulues et y rester sans défaillance.
Au lieu d'être fixée à demeure, l'articulation reliant la tige à la chaise pourrait être rete nue en place par des vis à ailettes permettant d'enlever facilement l'ensemble de l'écran et de l'utiliser ailleurs. De même, dans une va riante, les parties mâles des articulations pourraient se trouver sur la chaise et l'écran protecteur respectivement et les parties femelles correspondantes sur la tige de sup port.
Une personne allongée dans une chaise pliante peut éprouver le besoin de déposer à portée de sa main, de faon à pouvoir être repris aisément, le cas échéant, un objet tel qu'un livre, un verre, un. cigare, etc. A cet effet, la chaise pliante représentée comprend une tablette 1.0, susceptible de se rabattre et assujettie de façon amovible à un accoudoir I1 de la chaise. Les fig. 4 et 5 montrent sui vant deux plans perpendiculaires la cons truction du support d'une telle tablette. Un étrier 12 est engagé par ses deux jambes dans des trous correspondants, percés dans l'accoudoir 11, la partie parallèle à l'accou doir est coudée pour pouvoir faire office de butée pour la tablette 10. Celle-ci est articu lée à des tourillons 13' d'un autre étrier 13 assujetti sur l'étrier 12 par points de soudure.
Enfin, les chaises pliantes dites trans atlantiques ont généralement, près de l'ex trémité avant du cadre à crémaillère, une tra verse en bois sur laquelle passe la toile qui fait office de siège. Cette traverse se situe à peu près à mi-hauteur des cuisses de la per- sonne allongée sur la chaise et elle procure. à la longue un sentiment de malaise. Dans la chaise représentée, cette traverse est rempla cée par une sangle 14 fixée aux deux longe rons du cadre à crémaillère et cousue, d'autre part, à la face inférieure de la. toile. On maintient ainsi -la- souplesse de la toile-siège sur toute son étendue sans compromettre la stabilité de la chaise, car celle-ci est suffi samment assurée par ses autres membrures.

In fig. 1, a protective screen 1 com carries the. female part 2 of a ball joint. The male part of this joint is located at. the end of a rod 3, preferably extensible, which secures the screen 7. to the chair 4. The rod is attached to the chair in a similar way by a ball joint, the female part being attached to the chair, the male part being on the rod.
Figs. 2 and 3 show two views at 90 to each other of the ball joint connecting the rod to the chair. The female part consists of two cheeks 6 in stamped sheet metal fixed to the frame of the chair 4 and provided at their free ends with spherical hollows, embracing a ball joint 7. This has an appendage 8 for its attachment to the rod 3. A bolt 9 with wing nut passes through the two cheeks 6 and makes it possible to vary the tightening of the ball joint. This tightening will be advantageously adjusted so that the. rod 3 as well as the protective screen 1 can be brought into any desired position and remain there without failure.
Instead of being permanently attached, the joint connecting the rod to the chair could be held bare in place by thumb screws allowing the entire screen to be easily removed and used elsewhere. Likewise, in a variant, the male parts of the joints could be on the chair and the protective screen respectively and the corresponding female parts on the support rod.
A person lying in a folding chair may feel the need to place within reach of his hand, so as to be able to be easily picked up, if necessary, an object such as a book, a glass, a. cigar, etc. For this purpose, the folding chair shown comprises a tablet 1.0, capable of being folded down and removably secured to an armrest I1 of the chair. Figs. 4 and 5 show following two perpendicular planes the construction of the support of such a tablet. A bracket 12 is engaged by its two legs in corresponding holes drilled in the armrest 11, the part parallel to the armrest is bent so as to be able to act as a stop for the tablet 10. The latter is articulated to journals 13 'of another caliper 13 secured to the caliper 12 by welding points.
Finally, the so-called Atlantic folding chairs generally have, near the front end of the rack frame, a wooden transom over which passes the canvas which acts as a seat. This crosspiece is located approximately halfway up the thighs of the person lying on the chair and it provides. in the long run a feeling of unease. In the chair shown, this crosspiece is replaced by a strap 14 fixed to the two longe rons of the rack frame and sewn, on the other hand, to the underside of the. canvas. This maintains the flexibility of the seat fabric over its entire extent without compromising the stability of the chair, because the latter is sufficiently ensured by its other members.
