Description
Device for simultaneously drilling and exploding rock, as the drilling progresses. In the boring of galleries or tun nels, the procedure is generally as follows: holes are drilled in the rock to be removed and an explosive is used to blow up the rock. When it comes to exploiting a marble or other stone or ore quarry, the blocks are detached either by explosives, or by making holes in which wedges are placed and struck in turn on them. with a mass to blow up or detach the rock to be lifted.
The object of the present invention is a device for simultaneously drilling and shattering rock as drilling progresses.
The attached schematic drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the positive device.
. Fig. 1. is a longitudinal section along the line I-I of FIG. 2.
Fig. 2 is a cross section along the line II-II of FIG. 1, and fig. 3 is a cross section along the line III-III of FIG. 1.
The device shown comprises a wedge 1, for example made of steel, in the form of a truncated cone, having at one of its ends a fitting 2 which allows it to be adapted to the impact machine. This part is perforated in the axial direction of a bore 3 as well as one or more holes or channels 4, intended for. evacuation of debris from the borehole. The axial hole 3 serves for the passage of .la rod 5 carrying the cutting edge 6 which is, for example, cross-shaped. This rod 5 is extended on the side of the fitting 2 to enable it to be coupled to a machine which gives it both a rotational movement and a percussion movement.
The conical truncated wedge only receives the percussion movement while the rod carrying the cutting edge receives both the rotational and percussion movements.
The rod 5 and the cutting edge have an axial hazard 7, forming a channel and intended for the introduction of compressed air or water into the bottom of the perforation hole 8 of the rock 9, with a view to the evacuation of the debris from the cutting action.
The device works as follows: The cutting edge, placed where you want to blow the rock, is driven by a simultaneous movement of rotation and percussion. Once the hole is initiated and drilled over a certain length, wedge 1 engages in the hole, and since it is only driven by a percussion movement, it has the effect, due to its taper, of s 'to go into it and forcing the walls of the hole in which it is introduced, so that it shatters the rock as the hole is formed.
The drilling cuttings are evacuated either through the slits produced by the bursting of the rock, or through the channels 4 of the truncated corner.
With this device, it is possible to perforate galleries, or tunnels, without resorting to the use of explosives.
