Process for the manufacture of hoses.
Hoses made of plastics, such as those used for fertilization in agriculture, are largely resistant to solvents, alkalis, acids and putrefactive substances. They have the disadvantage that without a fabric insert, due to their chemical constitution with regard to strength properties, they are subject to strong visual fluctuations due to the effects of the weather and with a fabric insert, e.g. B. produced by a known method on a hose injection molding machine, are too heavy and too expensive.
The present invention relates to a method for producing hoses from a thermoplastic material with a fabric insert, in particular thin-walled fertilizer hoses, by means of which an economical production of hoses that are not very sensitive to the effects of weather and have good strength properties
Hoses is sought.
The method according to the invention consists in that at least one section of a web of fabric covered on both sides with a thermoplastic material is wrapped around a straight, heatable and coolable mandrel, consisting of a metal tube with a perforated wall and loosely attached
Rubber jacket, with the edges of the covered fabric web overlapping. The mandrel prepared in this way is pushed into a heatable and coolable double-walled tube and the covered web of fabric is pressed against the double-walled tube in order to be welded to a tube under the action of heat.
After the welding has taken place, a cooling liquid is expediently passed through the mandrel and the double-walled pipe, whereupon the finished hose or the finished hose piece can be removed from the jacket pipe after the mandrel has been removed. If it is a question of producing hoses of greater length according to this process, then the covered fabric web cut to the final length can be welded in sections to form a hose, with a single hose section then corresponding to the length of the mandrel or the jacket tube.
According to the same principle as set out above, it is also possible to weld separately produced hose sections to one piece in order to obtain hoses of greater length.
1 of the accompanying schematic drawing shows in section an exemplary embodiment of a mandrel suitable for example for carrying out the method according to the invention with a stretched plastic fabric web, partly in the state before and partly in the state during the welding.
Fig. 2 shows in cross section a ver welded, thin-walled hose.
A straight metal pipe 1 with wall bores 2 and a rubber jacket 3 loosely encircling the pipe is provided as the mandrel, over which a fabric web 4 covered on both sides with a thermoplastic material is laid with an overlap. This mandrel 1 spanned in this way is pushed into a straight, double-walled metal tube 5, the inner diameter of which is only so much larger that this operation can be carried out without difficulty. The intermediate space that arises here between the mandrel and the occupied fabric web 4 on the one hand and the fixed outer tube 5 on the other hand is denoted by 6.
In this position of mandrel 1, 3, web 4 and tube 5, the connections for a flowing and pressurized heating medium, z. B. superheated steam, attached so that the pipe 1 and the pipe 5 in the direction of the arrow P1 and P2, respectively, flow through. The welding agent now passes through the wall bores 2 between the rubber jacket 3 and the tube 1 and forms a pressure pad 7.
The pressure of the heating medium and the elastic rubber jacket 3 press the covered 4 on all sides against the likewise heated tube 5 and thus weld the overlap 8 (FIG. 2) to the tube with simultaneous pressure and temperature influence. For the purpose of cooling, cooling liquid is now passed through the pipes 1 and 5 in the direction of the arrows P1 and P2, respectively, whereby the simultaneous pressure reduction causes the rubber jacket 3 to approximate its position before heating (upper end of FIG. 1) and then the pipe 1 together with the rubber jacket 3 pulled out of the tube 5 and the ver welded hose can be pulled off.
If the intention is to produce a hose of several times the length, as provided by the mandrel 1, 3 and the tube 5, this can be done by appropriately designing the two ends of the mandrel 1, 3 and tube 5 as well as the connections for heating Coolant takes place by welding the web 4, which has a corresponding length, in sections.
By using a correspondingly resistant textile fabric and taking into account the fact that this is completely embedded in the thermoplastic plastic and in this way not caused by abrasion or otherwise, e.g. B. can be damaged by getting stuck, a good resistance to wear and a permanent secure seal even with larger work pieces than are common in agriculture, even with wall thicknesses below 1 mm.
