Method and device for fusion welding in a protective gas jacket. The present invention relates to a method and a device for fusion welding in a gas protective jacket.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a high-frequency current is induced into the metal parts to be seen by a high-frequency induction loop in order to bring the metal parts locally to the welding temperature, and at the same time a current that serves to shield the welding zone from the atmosphere inert gas is directed against the induction loop and welding zone, which cools the induction loop and is thereby dried and preheated before it reaches the welding zone.
The device according to the present invention for performing the method is characterized. in that a high frequency induction loop and a nozzle for an inert gas are provided, which are arranged in relation to one another. are that the outlet opening of the nozzle is directed against the induction loop.
The method according to the invention allows welding without any flux, which is particularly advantageous when welding stainless steel and aluminum. Since no arc is used, all difficulties and inconveniences in maintenance are eliminated. the electrodes away. The process is particularly suitable for welding metal sheets that are thin enough to be flanged for welding because the induction loop moves in the immediate vicinity of the open joint flanges and the metal directly under the loop. quickly heated by induction. and is melted.
The service life of the induction loop is considerably increased by the fact that the loop is constantly immersed in the cool, current inert gas during the welding process. In order to. are the maintenance costs. of the heating element compared to those of the Z-tungsten electrodes, the arc welding is significantly reduced.
Embodiments of the method and the device according to the invention who explained below with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a perspective partial view of a first embodiment of the Vorrich device during welding.
Fig. \? Fig. 3 is a partial view, partly in section and partly in side elevation, of a modification, and Fig. 3 is. a view in section. along line III-III of FIG. 2.
According to Fig. 1 of the drawing, the work piece W is mounted by means of suitable clips (not shown) on a water-cooled support rod 10 made of copper, which has a longitudinal groove 12 on the upper side. The work piece W shown consists of two metal sheets S with upturned edges or flanges 14, which are placed side by side and form a weld joint 15 over the groove. 12 lies. The work piece II 'and the support rod are moved in the direction of the joint 11 under a Hochfre quenzinduktions heating loop C in the form of a hairpin.
The loop C consists of copper pipe through which cooling water circulates by suitable means (not shown here). The water flows through inlet 16 into the loop suffering through outlet 17. A suitable high-frequency power source G, for example 500 to 500,000 periods, is connected to the inlet 1.6 and the outlet 17 by insulated conductors. The source C = can be an electron current generator with the appropriate output power (1 to 200 KW) and frequency for heating and melting the metal of the workpiece directly under the loop C when the joint moves in its direction of movement.
During the welding process, the molten metal parts 1.9 are directly. under the loop and the highly heated to sehliessenden metal parts of the work piece ITT constantly shielded from the atmosphere by a stream of an inert gas 20, which a nozzle N made of glass, ceramic material (or copper, in which case the nozzle is water-cooled by means of built-in water circulation must) flows out. The gas is fed to the nozzle N from a suitable source in coordinated amounts under pressure (the source is not shown).
The gas is, for example, for welding stainless steel, aluminum and their alloys, which form a weldable oxide, pure argon, helium or a mixture thereof, or another inert gas. In the case of copper, however, some hydrogen gas may be mixed with the inert gas. will.
The nozzle N has a long narrow opening 21 which is above the opening through the two legs. The opening formed by the hairpin C is arranged so that the gas flows between and over the sides of this hairpin on its way to the work piece below. As a result, the heating loop ('is cooled by the gas and shielded from the atmosphere and the hot metal.
At the same time, the gas is also somewhat preheated before it reaches the molten part 19 of the metal. The gas somewhat preheated by the loop C does not frighten the area heated by the loop too quickly. from. The gas flow also helps to cool the lower part of the nozzle. During the process, the support rod 10 is traversed in the longitudinal direction to prevent melting of cooling water. A ceramic or non-ceramic element (not shown) can be arranged between the work piece and the support rod for the purpose of better welding, or the support rod itself can consist of ceramic material.
The work piece IV can be stationary, in which case the loop C and the nozzle N rides in the direction of the joint 1.5. be moved over the workpiece at a constant speed. In this arrangement, the loop and nozzle are connected to a unit in which the loop is mounted on the underside of the nozzle.
The molten metal solidifies again when the heating loop of the joint 15 continues to move long ent. This results in a solid weld seam 22 which connects the two metal sheets S perfectly. The welding speed is quite high, especially when the work piece is made of sheet metal with a relatively low melting point, such as aluminum and magnesium, as well as their alloys.
According to Figures 2 and 3, a metal rod or wire R is fed down through the center of a nozzle N 'so that the rod R also passes through a high frequency loop C located between the end of the nozzle and the work piece 11 ".
In this way, the rod R is properly preheated and melted zen as it is fed through the loop. At the same time, the highly heated metal of the rod is carried through inside and below the loop. inert gas, which exits through the nozzle N ', flows downwards first over the loop C "and then over the molten part 23 of the metal in the welding zone and the latter protects the atmosphere. Against the action of the atmosphere is shielded the gas is somewhat preheated and dried and contributes to the cooling of the loop and to its protection against the heat of the rod R and the welding zone.
The work piece W 'is seen in the joint between tween the two parts with a groove V, in this case between the anein other joined plates P, which groove is filled with the metal that is through the progress of the welding process in the direction of the joint the rod R is delivered. When welding, of course, any suitable flux can be used on the workpiece or the welding rod if this proves to be desirable.
It is clear that the apparatus of FIG. 2 can also be used for welding a workpiece, e.g. B. a metal plate with the rod R could be used, in the sense that the surface of the metal plate is lined with the material melted from the rod by a rod made of selected clad metal, such as silver, stainless steel, copper, etc. ., Is fed through the nozzle N 'and the Sehlange C' when the apparatus is moved over the surface of a body of the selected base metal, for example steel. The frequency of the energy source can be set within such limits that it does not cause interference with television and radio reception.
