Dementsprechend kann das Druckstosswellensystem in einer be vorzugten Ausführungsform am Rotoreinlass erzeugt werden, und zwar infolge der Ablenkung eines sich relativ zu diesem mit Über- schallgeschwindigkeit bewegenden Fluidumstromes durch die Schaufeln des Rotors ;
1 = Rotoreintritt, 2 = Rotoraustritt.
Ein Beispiel ist in Fig. 9 und die entsprechenden Vektordiagramme sind in Fig. 10 dargestellt, in welchen für gleiche entsprechende Teile die gleiehen Bezugszahlen wie in Fig. 4 und 5 verwendet werden. Das Beispiel zeigt eine Verbundanordnung, wobei ein Stator 1 und ein Rotor 2 mit den entsprechenden Schah- feln 2i1 versehen ist, sowie einen ähnliehen, die zweite Stufe bildenden Rotor 5 mit Schaufeln 5i1 und einer Einlassmachzahl, die grosser als 1 ist ;
Flow compressor.
The present invention relates to flow compressors which are not designed as centrifugal compressors. The invention aims to provide a compressor of this type which, for a given output, is more compact and simple in design and construction than the compressors known hitherto.
Among the possible types of compressors of the class mentioned, the invention relates, for example, to the usual axial flow compressors and radial flow compressors of the Ljungstrom type.
Known compressors are usually designed in such a way that they work by accelerating the working fluid and then delaying it, in order to regain the dynamic energy applied during acceleration at least approximately in the form of pressure energy. This acceleration and deceleration can be effected either in the rotor or in the stator or in both.
In existing compressors, the Mach number (that is, the ratio of the speed of the fluid at any point to the speed of the sound in this fluid at the same point) is generally less than 1 and under these conditions the acceleration of the working fluid only offers little difficulty, but the deceleration process is subject to substantial limitations due to the ease with which flow instability can occur.
In addition, if the maximum Mach number used in a compressor is less than 1, there is a certain upper limit for the stage pressure ratio that can be achieved.
However, if the Mach number of a fluid is greater than 1, the conversion of dynamic energy into pressure energy is possible in two ways; either by gradual deceleration, with such a flow being very unstable and therefore very difficult to achieve in practice, or by means of what is known as a pressure surge wave. This phenomenon occurs as a result of a more or less momentary change in pressure at the point of contact between adjacent flow zones, with the flow velocities being changed more or less momentarily on both sides of the point of contact in such a way that
that the velocity component of the flow measured upstream of the impact point is normal to the impact of supersonic magnitude, while the corresponding component downstream of the impact point is of subsonic magnitude: or in other words the component / numerals at the points in question are larger or larger. less than 1. It is therefore a property of a shock wave that it brings about a compression over a very short distance and with relatively high efficiency, the amount of pressure increase being a Mā for the strength of the shock wave.
The present invention is based on the idea of using this pressure wave principle of energy conversion in order to obtain a useful pressure increase in compressors of the type mentioned. For this purpose, the compressor according to the invention is designed in such a way that in the space covered by the rotor blades at the design point of the compressor in which the maximum efficiency is achieved, a pressure increase is achieved by utilizing the conversion of dynamic energy into pressure energy by means of a the rotor rotating pressure wave system is obtained.
The term pressure wave system denotes a systematic distribution of pressure waves or a single identifiable pressure wave.
In the ideal case, the entire pressure shock wave system should be contained in the area exposed to the running bucket, so in practice this ideal state is very difficult to achieve, but it can be ensured that at least the largest part of the shock wave system (from the center From the point of view of intensity) you are in this space.
The invention makes use of the fact that if an obstacle is placed in a fluid flow that deflects the flow from its path, and if the speed of the flow relative to this obstacle is supersonic (i.e. the relative Mach number is greater is as 1), a pressure shock wave system is generated, and if, in addition, the obstacle is a wedge, one surface of which runs parallel to the direction of flow, by a suitable choice of the wedge angle it can be achieved that only the part of the flow which at the lower the aforementioned angle to the direction of flow inclined surface of the wedge flows past. is deflected, so that a pressure shock wave system is only generated on one side.
A shock wave system, which is generated, for example, by means of a wedge-shaped blade by deflecting the fluid flow, can appropriately be called ¸continuitystō¯, as it can be considered as the result of an attempted violation of the law of continuity in a flow, in contrast to the two-way System designated with ¸impulsstō¯, which can be regarded as the result of an attempted violation of the principle of the conservation of momentum. The latter form occurs, for example, in the overhang area of an extended Lavald se.
If there were no losses in such a nozzle and the fluid was a perfect Cas, expansion would take place until the Mach number would be greater and the temperature would be greater. In reality, however, these conditions cannot be met, so that a shock wave must occur in the nozzle if the law of conservation of momentum is to be observed.
An impulse shock wave system in the space swept by the moving blade would result in a feasible variant of the continuity wave system if the first-mentioned system could be used with good efficiency and could be generated by the flow through the blades of the rotor taking place at supersonic speed, with blades shaped in this way, that they would form an extended Laval nozzle.
Also in this case, with a given entry mach number not less than 1, a kind of continuity shock wave would necessarily form at the leading edges of the blades, since these must be of endless dieke; Such a shock wave would not necessarily propagate into the space irradiated by the rotor blades and rotate with the rotor, in which case, from the point of view of achieving a useful pressure increase, only the impulse shock wave occurring in the blade channels are considered to be effective could.
On the other hand, it has to be said that an impulse shock wave system of this kind alone would have insufficient aerodynamic stability and a small effective area compared to a continuity shock wave, and that an impulse shock wave system to achieve a good efficiency in operation, by generating a continuity shock wave system upstream of the first-mentioned S-stem within the space swept by the rotor cluster, would have to be stabilized.
Accordingly, in a preferred embodiment, the pressure shock wave system can be generated at the rotor inlet, specifically as a result of the deflection of a fluid flow around it moving at supersonic speed relative to it through the blades of the rotor;
Furthermore, the blades can be wedge-shaped in the area of the leading edges (this requirement can be regarded as fulfilled, for example, if the tangential planes on the surfaces of a blade meet in a wedge shape at their intersection), while to ensure the impact intensity in the area swept by the blade Space the arrangement can be made in such a way that the main deflection of the current takes place through the front surface, i.e. the blade surface preceding in the direction of rotation of the rotor, whereby the rear surface, i.e. the surface located on the rear side of the blade in the direction of rotation of the rotor, can be arranged so
that it runs parallel to the incident flow, or is at least inclined at a smaller angle to the flow direction before the deflection than the front surface.
There is a certain leeway in the choice of the wedge angle; however, in order to achieve the best results, the angle of the wedge for a given, associated Mach number is chosen to be two-fold smaller than the so-called angle of separation. The latter expression can be defined as follows:
If, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing, a relatively pointed wedge 4 is brought into a trine flow F with Vberschallgeschwindig speed, the resulting shock wave W, as shown, is at the apex of the wedge and, if the incident flow with a the surfaces are parallel, develop only on one side of the same.
If, however, the angle for the incident flow is increased for a given Mach number, a value is reached at which the shock wave propagates on a short stretch against the flow direction, as shown in FIG. 2, and is completely detached from the wedge and then spreads on both sides of it. This is the value of the wedge angle which, for a given Mach number of the incident flow, is regarded as the angle of separation of the wedge at this Mach number.
The foregoing naturally requires a Mach number of the fluid relative to the rotor at its inlet that is not less than 1.
However, the Mach number at this point is preferably less than 1 relative to the stator element. Similarly, it is desirable that the Mach number of the fluid relative to the rotor at its outlet is less than 1, although satisfactory results can also be achieved if local at the rotor outlet Supersonic zones occur. In general, if the relative fluid velocity alone can be increased to supersonic velocity, as can be considered the ideal case, higher efficiencies are obtained than is otherwise the case with supersonic compression.
An embodiment of the subject invention, namely a compressor stage with axial flow, is shown schematically in Fig. 3, in which a rotor element 2, in which 2A and 2B are two adjacent blades, rotates in the direction of the arrow and between an inlet stator element l and a Outlet stator element 3 is arranged.
The rotor and stator elements partially shown in FIG. 3 are, of course, parts of complete saw disk bodies which are arranged coaxially and are provided with blades over their entire circumference. The terms used in the corresponding vector diagrams (Fig. 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10) have the following meaning:
M = speed vector, a = air angle with respect to an axial plane of the compressor; The indices have the following meaning: p on the circumference with regard to (circumferential speed) r = with regard to the rotor with regard to (relative speed) s = with regard to the stator with regard to (absolute speed),
1 = rotor entry, 2 = rotor exit.
In the diagram in FIG. 4, Ilsl represents the vector of the absolute speed and Mp1 the circumferential speed vector of the rotor 2. The vector Mr1 represents the relative speed vector at the rotor inlet.
5 shows the corresponding velocity vectors at the rotor outlet.
The operating conditions considered are the following:
1. That the absolute speed of the working fluid should be subsonic, while the relative speed should be supersonic. In order to achieve this, the vector 111 should have a component in the opposite direction to the direction of the vector Mp1, as shown in FIG. 4, so that the chords of the blades of the stator 1 and the rotor 2 with respect to an axial plane of the compressor are inclined in the same sense.
2. That the rotor blade should be wedge-shaped in the area of its leading edge, as described above, the wedge angle not being greater than the separation angle for the inlet size under the working conditions in which the maximum efficiency is achieved.
3. That, in the ideal case, the angle of incidence of the fluid on the rotor blades in the direction of the principles already mentioned with regard to the. The arrangement of the blade surfaces should be coordinated in such a way that the pressure wave system is only generated on the front surface of each blade and that the compression pressure does not spread into the stator element in the countercurrent direction, or at least that the intensity of the shock wave system is at the front surface the shovel is larger than at the rear.
The ideal arrangement would be one if, for example, a pressure shock wave PQ emanating from a rotor blade 2B is reflected, for example, one or more times (as indicated by QR) on the underside of the next rotor blade 2A in the row.
With a not ideal, but still effective. In the system, a pressure wave PS can occur, for example, which is less intense than PQ and which, as a result of its direction on the rear side of the blade 2B, can propagate into the stator element 1 lying in the countercurrent direction.
In order to achieve a large pressure increase from the compression stage under consideration, it is desirable that the relative speed of the working fluid at the rotor outlet is subsonic in size. The blades could, however, be designed for a pressure surge wave system within the space swept by the rotor blades, in which supersonic speed occurs in certain zones of the outlet without the efficiency of the compressor being undesirably impaired.
In any case, the absolute speed of the working fluid at the rotor outlet should be less than sound, which is best achieved in that the vector Mr2, as shown in FIG. 5, has a component directed opposite to the vector Mp2.
As usual, the inlet angle of the stator 3 is chosen so that it is adapted to the absolute velocity vector Ms2. The rest of the configuration of the stator 3 corresponds to the usual practice and depends on the task it is intended to perform, and also on the required air outlet angle.
Since the relative flow velocities are high, if large losses are to be avoided, it is desirable that, in addition to the wedge-shaped design of the blade with a suitable wedge angle in the area of the leading edge, unnecessarily large curvatures are avoided in the design of the profiles of the rotor blades . For this purpose, the rotor blade can expediently have the shape shown in FIG. 3, which means that it has an approximately rhombic profile. But you can also use other profiles, for example biconvex, concave-convex or double wedges, with little or no curvature.
The blades can, for example, have such a small curvature that the blade chord lies at least approximately entirely in the interior of the blade cross-section, the angle of inclination that the blade chord has with the axial. level of the rotor forms, is expediently greater than 50.
It goes without saying that the compressor should be designed in such a way that the pressure shock wave system is maintained in the space swept by the rotor over the entire intended, effective working range of the machine.
The main advantages of a compressor of the type described are that it allows the simplicity and lightness of the centrifugal compressor to be combined with the superior shape of the axial flow compressor. Two or more of the compressor stages described can be connected with one another relatively easily, so that a high pressure ratio can be generated in a single compact machine, or one or more of such stages can be combined with customarily designed stages (one ultimately centrifugal stages).
Since the working fluid is deflected at a large angle, the connection could also take place with a rotor rotating in the opposite direction without the use of interposed stator blades.
An example is shown in FIG. 9 and the corresponding vector diagrams are shown in FIG. 10, in which the same reference numerals as in FIGS. 4 and 5 are used for the same corresponding parts. The example shows a composite arrangement, a stator 1 and a rotor 2 being provided with the corresponding blades 2i1, as well as a similar rotor 5 forming the second stage with blades 5i1 and an inlet Mach number greater than 1;
then a stator 3 is provided, followed by a rotor 6 which is calculated for normal subsonic operation (inlet size less than 1) and to which a corresponding outlet stator 7 is connected.
The compressor according to the invention is particularly suitable for aircraft gas turbines, but is of course not restricted to this field of application.
As mentioned earlier, an impulse shock system can be created in the space swept by the treadmill instead of a continuity system as previously described with reference to Figure 3, although the latter appears more advantageous. An embodiment of such an arrangement with a pulse pusher system is shown in FIG. 6 with the corresponding vector diagrams in FIGS. 7 and 8.
According to FIG. 6, the channels lying between the blades 2A of the rotor are divergent, so that if the speed of the fluid flow in these channels is supersonic, a shock wave r occurs in the channel. At the leading edge of the blades, however, a continuity shock wave system will form, which for the most part will spread out as shown at r.
As a result of this shock wave system, pre-condensation would occur at supersonic upstream of the narrowest part of the sewer.
The main pressure increase, however, would occur at the point of shock wave T.
The main disadvantage of such an arrangement according to FIGS. 6 to 8 is, however, that the position of the shock wave T is influenced by the boundary layer conditions, so that the shock point will move noticeably and that the shock wave system is not stable over a large operating range.
